This document is a 2-3 page (800 words minimum)essay written in response to the belief that all human beings are born with specific inalienable rights as stated in “The Declaration of Independence.” These basic rights of “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness” (Jefferson, Thomas). could be summed up in one word: freedom. The American Colonists fought for freedom to govern themselves instead of being ruled by the King of England.
This essay should make connections between this proposed national freedom and the individual freedoms of the American Dream which include personal choices of schooling, occupation, purchasing or selling a home, a business, or moving from state to state. Only one source is required for this document, “The Declaration of Independence” and it needs to be shown on a Work Cited page.
