Answer each of these two questions in 3 paragraphs. intro, body, and conclusion. (This is not a formal essay, just put as much details as possible from the audio, and couple relevants info from American Yawp link)
Question one:
Explain the rise and appeal of the Republican Party from its start in the 1850s through the end of Reconstruction. What influence did events, reformers, and third parties have on its formation? Where did the party stand philosophically and on major political issues?
question two:
What influence did the country’s expansion west have on causing the Civil War? Discuss specific examples of land acquisitions, subsequent debates about whether slavery would be permitted there, and relevant political compromises.
