As we have discussed throughout this course so far, in American literature-and in American life and history as well-the notion of the “American Dream” is a central, defining social and cultural concept. The idea for your paper, ultimately, is to offer a careful consideration of how four works of American literature-from the Colonial era to the Contemporary era, Post Modern era, Romantic era, Pre Modern era, -present visions of the American Dream and, moreover, serve to critique it and point out its flaws, differences, and complexities.
The Final Paper, ultimately, will serve to demonstrate your understanding of the complex issue of the American dream and, moreover, your ability to understand, explain, and analyze literary texts in order to present an engaging and well supported interpretive argument in clear, direct, and concise language. Your task for this assignment is to identify the literary works you intend to analyze in your Final Paper.
Intro:

Closing Paragraph:
Summarize what your paper’s ultimate point/argument will be and how these pieces of literature define and/or critique the American Dream. Also, feel free to raise any questions you intend to resolve in your paper.
