This assignment will require you to read and analyze one of the assigned historical articles. In this 3-5 page paper (double-spaced), you will identify the article author’s argument and evaluate their use of historical evidence and scholarship. Your paper must include:

-A detailed summary of the author’s main argument(s). What is the author trying to convince you of?

-An analysis of the author’s sources. What type of sources did the author use to write this article? Primary or secondary? Newspaper, manuscript, archaeological, other?
-A discussion of how this article fits into larger historical processes that we have discussed this semester.
Please write the title of the article you are analyzing at the top of your paper, and be sure to cite the article using Chicago style citation whenever quoting or paraphrasing. You do not need to include a bibliography as you will not need to use other outside sources to complete this assignment.
