This is a Visual Culture Class and we are doing a Analysis Paper on, “Appropriation” with the Grant Wood’s American Gothic. Below is
the apporiated photo. Please compare the message of the appropriation to the message of the original painting. How does the
creator appropriate the original meaning to his/her own end? What is the meaning that has been created through the appropriation? What additional cutural and/or social impacts might the appropriation have, beyond the intended impacts?
