Analytical Assignment:

Thoroughness and a demonstrated understanding of the theories and content of Human Growth and Development will be rewarded!

Physical:

Assess the physical development of the character Michael, played by Quinton Aaron. Please find the applicable areas in your text and course work to fully describe this area of Michael’s development. Note things such as height, weight (e.g., is Michael below average, average, or above average, height/weight proportionate). Note if Michael has any physical disabilities or any physical deformities. What are your observations about his motor skills (e.g., fine and gross). If there are no disabilities or deformities you must state that fact.

Cognitive:

Use Piaget and any other cognitive theorist you wish to discuss). Gather evidence from the movie for Michael’s cognitive development. At what cognitive developmental level do you assess Michael (e.g., sensorimotor, preoperational, concrete operational, formal operational, or post-formal operational)? Give at least four correct, in depth examples/reasons for why you think Michael is at this level of cognitive development. Does Michael have any obvious cognitive disabilities, learning disabilities, or perceptual disabilities? If there are none, state this fact.

Identity/Personality/Temperament:

Use Erikson and any other identity/personality/temperament theorists you wish to discuss. What stage of psychosocial development would you assess Michael at? Give at least four correct, in depth examples/reasons for why you think Michael is at this level of identity or personality development. What is Michael’s temperament style (e.g. introvert or extravert)? Give examples of why you think so. How do you believe Michael would identify himself? (e.g., his gender identity, sexual orientation, his ethnic identity etc.). See textbook and course work for specific areas of identity/personality/temperament development that apply to Michael.

Moral:

Use Kohlberg and any other moral theorists you wish to discuss. What stage of moral development do you think defines Michael according to Kohlberg? Give at least four correct examples/reasons (what Michael said or did) that supports your assessment.

Socio-cultural:

Use Bronfenbrenner and any other bio-psychosocial theorists you wish to discuss. Describe Michael’s microsystem, mesosysystem, exosystem, macrosystem, and chronosystem. You must correctly discuss all five systems. How have these systems impacted Michael’s development? For example, how has Michael’s cultural background impacted him? How has the historical period of time in which Michael has lived impacted him? How does society view people similar to Michael?

4) Final Assignment:

Due Wednesday, May 11, 2022 in class. Must be posted in Blackboard the same day. You will have to present your final assignment in-class and justify your analysis.

Conduct a critical analysis of your own personal growth and development. Then write an in depth paper using the stage theories of Freud, Erikson, Piaget, Kohlberg, and Bronfenbrenner. Give at least five correct examples for why you have placed yourself or selected famous/known person at the stage of development within each theory that you have.

Final assignment not to exceed 4 pages double spaced (Microsoft Word) format.

The purpose of this assignment is to give students an opportunity to demonstrate the skills that they learned throughout the course. Each student will prepare a 7-8 minute oral presentation, accompanied by 4 page paper that will include relevant and interesting information about yourself, any competing theories that might explain the etiology of the issue, the various practice theories that might be applicable, and treatment options that are suggested in the literature. All information must be collected from credible research or clinical literature, and the sources for your information must be cited on your Microsoft Word using APA style. The database available through your textbook publisher’s website may be a good place to start.

Plan your presentation as if you were speaking at a professional conference, and prepare handouts that would be helpful to the audience.

Your Final Assignment will be submitted through SafeAssign software that will check your work for plagiarism and provide report that will include similarities found on the internet.

When writing essays, using the textbook, a website, or anywhere else, YOU MUST CITE IT. American Psychological Association (APA) citation is required . Essays with un-cited information will not receive a grade.
