USING TWO ARTWORKS prepare and write a two-page, typed paper. The
assignment is to choose TWO ARTWORKS from two different cultures and two
different time periods to write a compare and contrast paper. Five questions
(below) are provided and must be addressed, while conducting research and
writing the paper.
1. Analyze and discuss the different ways the artists have used the visual
elements such as color, contrast, balance etc.
2. How do you think the cultural and historical background of the artists
might have influenced the way their work looks?
3. What conclusions can you reach about the artists time period and his or
her views of their world? Some things you might want to consider:
spirituality, politics, economics, race or ethnicity, gender or gender
identity, ecological issues, materials and process.
4. Do the two works share any similar ideas, approaches to subject or use of
materials?
5. What do you think the artists are trying to communicate in their work?
