Purpose of Assignment: The student can create a null hypothesis, determine measures and scales for data collection, and evaluate the findings of a repeated-measures research study.
Tasks:
1. Read the research article: HRVandsinging.pdf Download HRVandsinging.pdf
2. Respond to the following questions/do the following:
a. Write corresponding null hypotheses for the two hypotheses presented.
b. Indicate which physiological data were obtained from every participant during rehearsals and concerts. How were these data collected?
c. How was the performers’ nervousness measured? What was the question and what was the scale?
d. Answer the following from Table 2.
1. What was the mean difference from the rehearsal easy piece to the concert easy piece?
2. What was the mean difference from the rehearsal strenuous piece to the concert strenuous piece?
3. Note from the post hoc (Scheffe) tests for heart rate which comparisons were significant.
4. Do any of these comparisons surprise you, especially given the mean differences you calculated above? Did you expect to see different results?
5. Was hypothesis I supported? (yes/no)
