In “Radical American Environmentalism” Ramachandra Guha contrasts the “anthropocentric” perspective of nature with the “biocentric” perspective. Guha defines what each of these terms mean, you may reference his article for the precise definition for each. For this essay, you will choose of our previous literary readings (ex. Thoreau, Marlowe, Wordsworth, Auden, et al.) and make an argument for your chosen author as a proponent of either the anthropocentric or biocentric perspective. You should cite evidence from the chosen literary text that supports your argument.
There are three basic components to this essay:
1) You must pick a literary author.
2) You must argue persuasively that your chosen author advances either the anthropocentric or the biocentric perspective of nature.
3) You must meet all other guidelines for this prompt.
