Assignment Guidelines
The following stages will help students in planning their assignment:
1. Brainstorm potential topics of interest. Select a topic.
Note: the topic must be Kinesiology-related.
2. Begin doing a literature search to review existing research on the chosen topic.
It is recommended that students begin with reviewing 10 peer-reviewed academic
articles to have sufficient knowledge on the topic. This literature review will also help to
identify the research gap.
3. Select 2-4 peer-reviewed academic articles to include in the Mini Proposal for
background research.
These articles will be used to provide a brief literature background on the topic and will
be cited in proper APA style at the end of the Proposal. Should be current research
(within the last 5 years).
4. Identify the research gap.
What do we not currently know about this topic that the proposed study will address?
Identifying the gap will help with creating the research question for the Proposal. It will
also be explained in the background/rationale section to justify the importance of this
proposed study.
5. Create a research question.
The research question should address the stated research gap. Remember: it should be
appropriate for chosen method( quantitative or qualitative).
6. Design the proposed study.
Complete the provided template detailing each of the required components for the
proposed study.
