Apply critical race communication theory to a media text (movie, show, etc.) to tease out how it represents a particular group using racial, gender, and sexual stereotypes, among others.

Keep in mind that this paper should contribute in some way to intercultural communication theory.
The paper will include your introduction, literature review, analysis, and conclusion sections. Each section should be labelled clearly
using subheads to separate them from others.
• Your introduction section will introduce your thesis or argument (problem + solution) as well as provide a blueprint for the
rest of the paper. Your argument is a claim that you make, which is backed by evidence (For example: I argue that despite
including a diverse cast in terms of race and ethnicity as well as gender, The Walking Dead ultimately maintains the centrality
of whiteness by rendering characters of color as secondary to the white protagonist).
• In your literature review section, you can use as many as class readings as you want, but you can also do independent
research. This section will review work in this area that scholars have done so far and identify how your work contributes to
this conversation.
• The third part is the heart of any essay, which is the analysis section. Your analysis should provide enough “proof” that
demonstrates your argument. This could be the analysis of a show or providing some other kind of “proof” that
demonstrates your argument. I am interested in seeing how you APPLY the theories and concepts you learned in this class to
your text.
The last section, conclusion, ends the essay by reiterating some overarching points. It could also list some limitations of your
work as well as indicate areas for future research.
