Topic – Recreational DNA testing, such as Ancestry DNA and 23andMe, and other DNA testing, has opened a fascinating world of exploring genealogy and health risks. However, public concern has arisen around privacy and use of DNA data, and reliability/interpretation of results. There have also been cases recently where law enforcement has solved crimes based on DNA forensics using the results of recreation DNA of various individuals to aid in the investigation. Applying 2 major moral principles, consider whether law enforcement should be permitted to use recreational DNA testing data to help solve crimes.
