? Are you talking about the kind of work portrayed in Mindhunters (Netflix original, one of my guilty pleasures), or something else?

This week, we’ll be dedicating time to refine/polish our final portfolios. Remember the assignments you completed at the beginning of the semester? We will be revisiting them one last time. The portfolio includes: Your APA goals 1-5, goals statement, cover letter, 2 references requests, resume/cv, personal statement, and programs of interest you’ve researched that you plan on applying to. Please note: DO NOT SUBMIT YOUR DRAFTS. I can tell the difference and will deduct points after comparing your previous and latest submission. Rather, the drafts that you submitted early on will need to have my feedback applied in addition to career services/writing center if you utilized those services. The idea is, by the time you’re done with your final copies, these documents are good to go for any use – applying for a job, program, volunteer position, etc.

1- Final Goal Statement
A statement describing your immediate and long-term career and life goals, including an explanation of why these goals are appropriate in terms of your knowledge, skills, characteristics, values, and experiences.
Remember to attach your file in a Word

2- Final Draft of Goals
Use the same templates as provided for the rough drafts and combine into a single document to submit.

3- Draft of Resume/CV

4- Final Draft of Personal Statement

Feedback of assignments:

Goal Statement-

Hi student

I’m happy to see some improvement here. Just an aside, no need to provide in-text citations for the goals statement. You gave me a career that you were interested in – FBI Psychology Agent/Psychologist – and expounded a bit more on your military experience. There’s even more room to build on this – for example, how does one become an FBI psychologist? Are you talking about the kind of work portrayed in Mindhunters (Netflix original, one of my guilty pleasures), or something else? What type of schooling/experience are they looking for? What’s the job listings looking like? We will be discussing more of this assignment in detail when we start to meet for office meetings with the instructor. For your second attempt and efforts, I awarded full points.

Rough Draft Goals 1-

You have two 1.2(b) and 1.3(c), please omit one of each.

Rough Draft Goals 2-

Please omit one of the two 2.3(c)’s you have listed. You only need one.

Rough Draft Goals 3-

Please apply the previous feedback to this draft.

Rough Draft Goals 4-

Hi student,
Thanks for your note. If you need to request an extension ahead of time, please do reach out and we may be able to work something out so you can receive full credit. I appreciate seeing you take into consideration my previous feedback on your APA goals. Partial credit for late assignment submission.

Rough Draft Goals 5-

Please see the previous feedback provided for Goal 4.

Cover letter/personal statement-

Hi student,

Nice job on your cover letter. I noticed your 2 uploads – I think you meant to upload different jobs (FA and FBI) but only saw 2 of the same for the flight attendant. No worries, because your flight attendant cover letter effectively captures your experience and a “snapshot” of your resume without being unnecessarily wordy or vague. You can omit the “contacts” and “email” below your signature since you have already included this info at the top. For the date, just keep it as 9/23/2021 – it looks a little odd with the 23rd/09. Otherwise, looks good.
