Argumentative Essay
For the documented essay, the
student will write one (1) 1000-1500
word documented argumentative essay
Please keep in mind that you need
to decide if you are arguing for OR
against the topic. You are NOT doing both.
The documented argumentative essay
must be in MLA format.
The documented argumentative essay
must be typed in black 12 point font (Times New Roman) and be double-spaced.
The documented argumentative essay
should be between 1000-1500 words long, not including the works cited page.
Please do not include a title page.
The
documented argumentative essay should include at least 2 (two) cited scholarly sources. Those scholarly sources must be cited in the
paper. One of the sources must be from an electronic journal.
A copy of the cited source must be
provided. In other words, the student must provide a photocopy of the
information that her or she is quoting,
summarizing, and/or paraphrasing. If
the photocopies are not included, five (5) points will be deducted from the
essays final grade. In addition, on the
photocopies, the information that is
being quoted, summarized, and/or paraphrased must be highlighted. If the
information is not highlighted, five (5) points will be deducted from the
essays final grade.
A rough draft (the planning) must be submitted
with the argumentative essay. If a rough draft is not submitted with the essay,
five (5) points will be deducted from the essays final grade.
The
order of your submission for the documented argumentative essay should be your
final draft of the documented argumentative essay, at least one of your rough
drafts of the documented argumentative essay, and then your highlighted
photocopies.”
