Skills: reading and writing Follow the instructions below: The first paper must be at least 4 pages long (12 pt. font, double spaced), and it is due March 26th. I. Introduction: According to Aristotle on the order of learning, we proceed from the most evident and less clear, to the least evident and most clear. Explain the meaning of this statement. This statement will be the theme revisited throughout the paper. II. The body of your paper: The problem of primary substances: how can we know these substances? How does the problem of knowing primary substances pertain to the statement in the introduction? How many principles of nature are there? What are these principles? How do these principles help us understand the two types of change: substantial change and changes in property? How does the problem of change become clear through these principles, and why are these principles, at first, less apparent or confused? How do these principles help us understand motion that occurs? Describe the dynamic between an agent and patient. Use a concrete example (fire and water) How is time most evident and less clear? How does time acquire clarity in Aristotle’s consideration of it in Book IV, c. 10-11 of the Physics?
