Thus, for this assignment, you’ll see a handful of prompts below about things we’d most certainly talk about if we met in real time. I’m looking for you to write a couple pages answering any of the prompts below that you find particularly interesting. As with the article reflection paper that you just submitted, you of course have complete freedom to be creative with this.
1. Who or what has had the most profound impact (for better or worse) on your views of romantic relationships and sex? Why? Consider people, events, experiences, etc.
2. How, if at all, have your views of (or expectations for) romantic relationships and sex evolved since you’ve been in college? What do you think has been the impetus for these changes?
3. What are some of the biggest challenges that adolescents and young adults face in terms of navigating issues around romantic relationships and sex? Why do you think these challenges exist and how might they be overcome?
4. How fairly (or accurately) do you think the news and/or entertainment media portray young adults’ romantic relationships? Can you think of any specific examples that you’ve found to be particularly effective/ineffective?
5. What advice would you give to adolescents who are, let’s say, 14 or 15 years old right now, about relationships – whether they be romantic, friendships, or parent-child, for example.
6. When you think of a healthy romantic relationship, what comes to mind? How about an unhealthy romantic relationship?
7. In terms of romantic relationships, partnerships, families, etc., what do you envision your life looking like at age 35? If you answer this question, make sure you save it to revisit in 15 years. 🙂
