ARTICLE REVIEW ASSIGNMENT INSTRUCTIONS
Follow the instructions outlined below for each assigned Article Review. The following assigned
Article Reviews should be completed for the corresponding module: week. The article can be
found on the submission pages for Article Review: Assessments and Assignments
Assignment, Article Review: Validity and Reliability Assignment, or Article Review:
Culturally Responsive Teaching Assignment under Article Review Resources.
Review must:
 Be typed using Microsoft Word (no other computer program is acceptable).
 Include an APA Professional Title Page. Do not include an abstract.
 Follow all APA guidelines, including style and grammar rules.
 Be two pages in length, not including the title and reference pages. You should not write
an introduction and conclusion.
 Include three sections with the following headings:
Article Analysis
This section should:
o Be written in third person, as this is your analysis of the article’s approach and
conclusions.
o Demonstrate an understanding and analysis of the author’s thesis.
o Articulate your reaction to the article, explaining why you agree or disagree with
the article’s findings. This is an analysis of the article’s assertions, not a topical
analysis.
o Include detailed reasons to support your expressed opinion.
o Be one page in length (between 200 and 250 words).
o Not include information taken directly from the article but should express your
own thoughts and feelings about how the article is crafted. (No quotations.)
o Include appropriate in-text citations following APA format. Paraphrase the
information from the article; do NOT directly quote any of the material.
Topic Analysis
This section should:
o Be written in first person, as this is your opinion and analysis of the topic.
o Not include personal experiences or anecdotes.
o Convey your perspective on the subject of the article.
o Be one paragraph in length (100-125 words).
o Not include information taken directly from the article but should express your
own thoughts and feelings about the topic. (No quotations)

Personal Reflection
This section should:
o Be written in first person and reflect on applying article content to your students
and professional practice within your own present or future practice.
o Be one paragraph in length (about a half page).
o Not include information taken directly from the article, but your own thoughts
should be on applying that information. (No quotations)
Include a separate references page with a single source for the original article in current APA
format. Do not use any other sources except the original article.
