Arts in Early Childhood Curriculum

You are an early childhood professional, and you understand the value of the Arts in early childhood curriculum, however, due to budget cuts, administration and those that make curricular decisions have decided to eliminate all funding for such activities. They feel it is a waste of time and money as these areas do not reap great achievement benefits in young children. Your goal is to create a budget and proposal for an Arts program to education administrators (e.g., principal, school board, decision-making bodies within a school, district or early childhood center or learning environment).
In creating the proposal, explain how critical art, music and movement are to a child’s development. You will need to educate and persuade the panel to see your perspective. Present the budget needed to create an Arts curriculum that list out materials and costs. Your proposal should be explicit in regards to how much money would be needed, exactly how you would use the money and how such an Arts program would support academic content areas (such as reading, writing, math etc.). The proposal needs to be researched-based to maintain credibility. The goal is to be persuasive and explicit as possible, these leaders need a solid plan if they are going to give you the green light for your plan. Your students are counting on you to advocate for them.
