Write an essay where you analyse an intercultural conflict based on the same literature.
You can choose from many different forms of conflicts (from individual to national, global). The important thing is that the conflict corresponds with the literature. Note! you can find relevant conflicts from your own life, from news and from fiction (film, novels). Your analysis should:
give a clear description of the conflict
involve several ways to account for cultural differences, and discuss the competences that are required to overcome or solve the conflict.
The essay should be appr. 6 pp long with 1.5 line-spacing and 12 pt Times New Roman. The literature should be referred to explicitly.

This is a summary of rubric
1) Cover page (format as suggested in rubric);
2) Introduction/background/literature citations/purpose (self-reflection is okay here, but reference to scholarly sources regarding time-management likely will help here);
3) Week 1 log (graphic chart of daily-segmented activities/daily reflection; pie chart summary correlated to activity sphere percentages; week 1 detailed summary and reflection on strengths, weaknesses, and areas to improve or goals for week 2);
4) Week 2 log (graphic chart of daily-segmented activities/daily reflection; pie chart summary correlated to activity sphere percentages; week 2 detailed summary and how well you addressed weaknesses and areas to improve or goals from week 1);
5) Summary of paper addressing overall thesis/purpose of paper, then stated goals for future (next semester or 3-6 month short term (provide timeline and SPECIFIC action plans for achieving goals or strengthening time-management behaviors); and
6) References page (insert page-break).
writing style manual. In scientific disciplines, we use American Psychological
2. Use a Association (APA) guidelines. These include: format paper using 1” margins all, Times New Roman font, 12’ pitch, double-spacing, one full indent/tab for new paragraphs, active voice, avoid informal language (no contractions, no superlatives, avoid first person —as dictated by paper parameter), include in-text references (likely in the introduction section and perhaps in the conclusion section). If you are used to MLA or Chicago writing and referencing formats, that is fine to use either of these; however, be consistent throughout the paper. Regardless of writing style, you select, please edit paper and run a grammar check, and spell check. Basic editing functions will highlight common writing errors (one space after all periods, informal language, passive voice, sentence construction, etc.).
3. Graphics, charts, visual displays: Each graphic should have a hader. For example, Chart 1: Week 1 Percentage of Activity by Category. In the text of your paper, you can then refer to that information using an in-text citation (Chart 1). In the text of the paper, you do not need to repeat information from a graphic, simply highlight aspects that are relevant to the discussion. Often you can “play with your computer” to locate how to insert a chart or graphic type. Sometimes using a histogram or bar chart is easier instead of the pie chart.a. b.

Industry Research Problem
The Industry Problem:
Despite declining crime rates, imprisonment rates in Australian states and territories are rising. In fact, the imprisonment rate in Australia has more than doubled from the mid-1980s to the latest figures in 2022. Indigenous Australians are impacted most by the continual rise – and are now the most imprisoned people on Earth. More recently, imprisonment rates for women are also rising at a greater speed than rates for men. Once people have been imprisoned, their chances of returning to prison again are high. Imprisonment is also costly. Australia spends an estimated $4.2 billion a year on prisons (Leigh, 2022).
The federal Labor government in Australia has said that imprisonment “fails to reduce recidivism, provide effective outcomes for victims of crime or to make our communities safe” (ALP, 2021). They have proposed to work with states and territories to pursue evidence-based policies and practices that help to reduce the use of imprisonment.
They want researchers like you to help them to understand how to reduce the use of imprisonment.
Your task:
As a researcher employed to consider the problem, your task is to write a research paper that explains how we got here, what can be done about it, and how the solution can be justified.
More specifically, your paper must include the following:
A clear introduction to your paper.
An explanation of how we got here: Using one of the sociological theories from the course, explain how we have arrived at the point we are at now. In other words, which theory do you think helps to explain the continuously rising rate of imprisonment? How does the theory explain the rise? (Any theory can be selected, there is no “right” answer. Week 4 materials will help you here).
An evidence-based alternative to imprisonment: Drawing on the research literature you must propose and clearly explain a solution, and why it might work.
A penological rationale: Briefly explain which penological rationale discussed in the course justifies your solution, and why. (Any rationale can be selected, there is no “right” answer. Week 3 materials will help you here).
A clear conclusion: Provide a conclusion that summarises your key finding(s) and briefly reflects on whether, how and why you think your plan is good.
Important rules to follow in writing your paper
To address the industry problem, students will prepare a 1,500-word research paper (plus or minus 10%, excluding references). The paper is designed to test your critical understanding of the course material as applied to the problem. Details of the topic and paper requirements will be posted on Blackboard near the beginning of the semester.
The paper must include a minimum of seven scholarly sources. However, students are reminded that this is a research paper which requires that any and all sources must be cited when discussing, summarising, or paraphrasing the ideas or research of others. Please review the UQ Student Academic Integrity policies here: https://my.uq.edu.au/information-and-services/manage-my-program/student-integrity-and-conduct/academic-integrity-and-student-conduct
The paper must include proper citation following the APA 7th style of referencing, please refer to the guide available in the library (https://guides.library.uq.edu.au/referencing/apa7). Appropriate sources include monographs, book chapters, journal articles, and government reports. Publications that are available electronically (such as from the Trends and Issues series from the Australian Institute of Criminology, reports of the Crime and Misconduct Commission, or articles from journals available through the library’s electronic holdings) can be used.
The paper must be double-spaced and typed (in 12-point font), with each page numbered. Please ensure that the paper has been proof read. For further information about the presentation of the paper, students should refer to the School of Social Science Assignment Writing Guide (https://social-science.uq.edu.au/files/1725/EssayWritingGuide_SocSci.pdf).
The Use of AI: This assessment task evaluates student’s abilities, skills and knowledge without the aid of Artificial Intelligence (AI). Students are advised that the use of AI technologies to develop responses is strictly prohibited and may constitute student misconduct under the Student Code of Conduct.
Project 1 – Moderna
You are a junior researcher in a small investment fund. Your boss asks you to write a quick overview of Moderna that will be used to decide whether to do more in-depth research as a potential investment.
Course Materials and Research
You will complete research on Moderna, keeping in mind the following guidelines:
Your sources should be current and come from the library, news articles, videos, and other scholarly sources.
Paraphrase the information you find, and be sure to cite your sources, using 7th ed. APA style for in-text citations and your references page.
Draw from the course materials to support the ideas you present.
Use the attached template with the headings separating elements. Create a new paragraph for each bulleted item. Write your paper in a narrative format, with indented paragraphs and no extra space between paragraphs. Do not use bullet points in your paper.
How to Set Up the Report
Use the report template provided. The template is double-spaced, using Times New Roman 12-point font. Your final product should be 3–5 pages in length excluding the title page and reference page. Write clearly and concisely. Your title page should include the course number, your name, and the instructor’s name.
Components of the Report
Introduction: Write an introductory paragraph. The introductory paragraph is the first paragraph of the paper and will be used to describe to the reader the intent of the paper, including the main points covered. It is important for the reader to understand the goals of the paper and what is being covered before reading the remainder of the paper. Consider writing the introduction last to ensure that it accurately reflects the main points of the paper.

International Trade Issues: Has Moderna faced any international trade barriers such as tariffs or quotas that have potentially affected its business? What effects has this had on the company?
Conclusion: Write a concluding paragraph. The conclusion summarizes the main topics discussed in the paper.
Europe since 1815 essay 6
You are a citizen of the British Empire in the late 19th century and you have recently toured British imperial holdings in Africa or India. Based on your experiences, you have decided to write a letter to the local newspaper expressing your view of British imperialism. Keep in mind that I have not specified what position you hold in society or where in the British Empire you are situated— you could be a British businessman, an aristocrat on holiday, a British soldier, a student from India studying in Great Britain, part of a resistance group that has been forged in light of British occupation, that is your choice. I have also not specified what view you hold of the empire. Depending on the identity you choose for yourself, you might be someone who is aware or very aware of, for example, of the situation in non-British held territories like the Congo. You might opt to compare your view of British imperialism with the way imperialist expansion was being carried out by the French, Leopold II, etc. Use the readings from Rogers, pp. 195-204, 205-212, readings in Palmer and the packet on the Congo to assist you in formulating your letter and argument. Given the nature of the assignment, you are free to use the first person.
Make sure to provide a bibliography of sources consulted, no in text citations are needed. Please make use of class resources.
No in text citations are needed, but you should provide a bibliography or sources consulted.
