Black Women at Trinity Blog –
For the Black Women at Trinity Project, students will construct a blog post (500-800 words) about Black women at Trinity. The project will consist of several parts. First, you will research on your own or consult the Trinity archivist to identify a list of black women teachers, students, staff, activists, black organizations, or black women centered events on and off campus. These may include building, spaces where black women protest, the first African American women who were the first to enroll or complete a degree, or other sites where important “firsts” happened. You will write a blog about this African American woman, organization, or events, the challenges faces, and how she made Trinity history.
Citations for the Blog must be included along with a photo or two to occupancy the writing.

Description
Continue working on your training manual. Complete the following tasks for your project:
Update the Quality Training Manual document title page with the new date.
Update the previously completed sections based on the instructor’s feedback.

Week 2: The Role of Leadership (300–400 words)
Research and summarize senior management’s role in successful quality improvement programs. Be sure to use real, researched examples to demonstrate your points. The Baldrige Award site list of recipients could be a good resource for examples.
In general, identify senior management’s specific role in these large-scale strategic quality programs? Cheerleader? Role model? Decision maker? Resource provider? What else?
Why must firms adopt the identified roles? What is the risk of not using the roles?
Indicate how senior and middle management should derive the metrics to use to monitor and communicate performance?

Background
1. The background should be a big-picture assessment of the topic that you have selected to study and be somewhere between 3 – 4 pages. The background includes relevant information that ultimately leads to justifying why you are proposing to conduct your research. Recall that you will not be doing the research – merely proposing that it be done. The conclusion of the background section must include the specific hypothesis/question you are addressing. Some researchers list Specific Aims at the end of their background sections when they are writing proposals. You may wish to do this. You also will have the rubric to work with ahead of time. This is will help you craft your background section.
2. Please include all references you have already found and please be sure to use them in the text with in-text citations. You may add more references than the original five.
Methods

1. Your proposal methods should be a clear description of how you will test your hypothesis or answer your research question. Page limit – 2 – 3 pages. Your methods likely will be similar to techniques used by other researchers. You must cite those methods. Your methods also must be repeatable. Can a reader follow your technique and repeat your study later on? If not, then you must revise your writing so it is clear. Your methods cannot be in a series of steps – listed out as 1, 2, 3, and so on. This section also must be written in paragraph form. Finally, what results do you expect to get? What will be the significance of those results ? How will you use the information?
2. Please include all references that are relevant to the methods you want to use. You may need to add even more sources – that is fine Please add all that you need- but remember to use all the references you cite. Continue to use in-text citations.

The topic of my paper is “there are no convex polygons with more than 6 sides that tessellate” So, you could start by explaining why every triangle tessellates the plane. Full Sentence Outline
You will use the Motivated Sequence body point structure for this speech OR you may use the Assertion structure body point structure– remember you must frame body points as I, II, & III as clear sub-arguments for the assertion structure
A full-sentence outline shows your entire speech (word for word) in outline form.
An outline is similar to an essay but uses all the elements of the detailed outline structure (Introduction, Attention-getting device, I, II, A. B. C. Conclusion etc…). This outline allows me to see your entire speech in its best possible form as well as your thought process, critical thinking skills, and ability to organize your material. It also backs up your hard work if your delivery does not go as planned.
You must cite a minimum of three sources on your outline and do three verbal citations during your presentation
(When creating your full outline you can use either the motivated sequence template or the assertion template.) samples of them are in the files below.

Key Word Outline
Your keyword outline must be on an 8×11 sheet of paper
A keyword outline uses the same structure as the formal full-sentence outline but uses phrases or partial sentences (keywords) to keep you on track as you deliver your presentation. You should glance at these during your presentation to keep you on track but do not read verbatim from them.

You must practice giving your speech aloud several times while using your slides! Know “your stuff” and deliver a complete speech using the keyword outline as a guide. Your goal is to sound conversational while following your outline.

References
You must verbally cite at least 3 different sources during your speech and document them on a reference page in APA style. *Do NOT use Wikipedia as one of your three sources! Use college-level sources (recognized periodicals, government documents, and academic journals)

to properly format your citations. Don’t forget to put them in alphabetical order on your reference page. Remember to title that document “References” (not Works Cited/MLA or Bibliography).

Powerpoint Slides
You must have 7 slides to accompany your speech. An opening slide with your name and title of your presentation, a preview slide showing each main body point, one slide for each main body point, a summary slide, and a closing reference page slide in APA form that shows where you got your information from is best.

In addition to the “One slide per minute rule”, all slides must follow the “6/6” rule, no more than six bullets per slide with approximately 6 words for each bullet.

Each slide must have a heading (usually the main body point or speech section such as Preview, Summary, and Reference. Remember bullets are phrases not sentences and do not use any punctuation.

Make points in each bullet! Each “bullet” should be an informational phrase or brief point on its own and not a question or a single word.

Use contrasting font and background colors and small graphics. Keep your slides easy to read and follow, simple, clean looking, and professional in your style choices!

***If you use verbatim quotes, paraphrase from research, or use graphics you must cite them parenthetically on the slide using the author/year format and on the reference slide!
