Explain why your criminal committed their crimes utilizing the language of the theories.
For example; Al Capone/Strain Theory: Al Capone wanted to achieve the approved cultural goal of accumulating wealth. However, Capone did not want to utilize traditional culturally approved means to do so, the 9-5 wasn’t for him; he could never accumulate enough wealth that way. So when faced with the strain to produce wealth, Capone responded with new ways to make money, illegal ways such as: gambling, racketeering, and boot legging alcohol. According to Merton’s Strain theory this makes Capone an“Innovator”.
