Inequality in the ancient world

This is the midterm for my anthroplogy class, we covered these two books extensively as they focused on inequality within the ancient world.

-Kent Flannery and Joyce Marcus: The Creation of Inequality: How our prehistoric ancestor set the stage for monarchy, slavery, empire
AND
-Christopher Boehm: Hierarchy in the Forest: The evolution of Egalitarian Behavior

*For the second prompt it discusses Marxism and its role, so we did use the Communist Manifesto which should help guide that one

I have attached the two essay questions for the assignment below as well in a word doc, 3 pages each would be great!

Chapter 40: A 52-year-old presents to the clinic complaining of night sweats, irritability, hot flashes, and fatigue. She is determined to be experiencing menopause and is given a prescription for estrogen replacement therapy.

Chapter 40: A 52-year-old presents to the clinic complaining of night sweats, irritability, hot flashes, and fatigue. She is determined to be experiencing menopause and is given a prescription for estrogen replacement therapy.
She asks you to explain what mechanisms underlie for why she is having these symptoms. How would you respond?
After your explanation, she asks you, “Why will the estrogen therapy make me feel better?” How would you respond?

Character Analysis Essay

Your character analysis should be a thesis-based essay that is at least 4 pages long. (It can be just a sentence or two on the fourth page. But, your essay needs to reach a fourth page, even if barely.)
It should be 5 paragraphs:
Introduction
Hook
Background
Theme
Plot Summary
Thesis Statement
Body Paragraph 1
Topic sentence
Discussion of your analysis of the character with support that is substantive, sufficient, and representative.
Use 2-3 embedded quotes that includes:
ample context (tell me what’s going on before the quote),
a signal phrase (tell me who is speaking the words of the quote),
an accurate quote surrounded by “quotation marks”
a parenthetical citation that tells me which paragraph from the story the quote can be found (par 6).
a period after the parenthetical citation.
A Transition sentence that moves the reader from one paragraph to the next
Body Paragraph 2
Topic sentence
Discussion of your analysis of the character with support that is substantive, sufficient, and representative.

a signal phrase (tell me who is speaking the words of the quote),
an accurate quote surrounded by “quotation marks”
a parenthetical citation that tells me which paragraph from the story the quote can be found (par 6).
a period after the parenthetical citation.
A Transition sentence that moves the reader from one paragraph to the next
Body Paragraph 3
Topic sentence
Discussion of your analysis of the character with support that is substantive, sufficient, and representative.
Use 2-3 embedded quotes that includes:
ample context (tell me what’s going on before the quote),
a signal phrase (tell me who is speaking the words of the quote),
an accurate quote surrounded by “quotation marks”
a parenthetical citation that tells me which paragraph from the story the quote can be found (par 6).
a period after the parenthetical citation.
A Transition sentence that moves the reader from one paragraph to the next
Conclusion–return to your hook. If you asked a question in the hook, answer it in your conclusion. Remember this is the LAST thing your professor reads before assigning your grade, so don’t simply summarize what you’ve already told her. Instead, offer a satisfying ending, which usually happens when you go back to the hook. Also, your conclusion can be short, even three or four sentences.

Topic: Gender

For this assignment you will be watching videos of children that focus on gender. Just to be clear YOU WILL BE MAKING OBSERVATIONS ON VIDEOS. You do NOT need to look up readings about the topic, only look watch videos.
A formal write-up takes the key terms from the reading and summary of each topic, looks for examples in the video reservoir. Please note the video name, state the term of behavior is an example of, UNDERLINE OR BOLD SAID TERM and then describe the example of the behavior. If you run out of examples you may discuss the discussion question, but the expectation is that for most topics you will have 1-1.5 pages of observations.

I WILL BE PROVIDING YOU WITH ALL OF THE SOURCES FOR THE ASSIGNMENT.
I HAVE ALSO PROVIDED AN EXAMPLE OF WHAT THE FORMAL WRITE UP SHOULD LOOK LIKE.

Teacher’s Prompt:
the two sides of gender, one public and one private. On the public side we will be considering gender stereotypes. These are the widely held beliefs about what is appropriate for males and females. (This is called the “public” side, because gender stereotypes largely reflect social norms.) Please read pages 390-390 (early childhood) and 503-505 (middle childhood) to learn about how children use gender stereotypes in different ways, depending on their stage of development.

On the “private” side of gender, we will be looking at gender identity. Gender identity is your own conception of yourself (as opposed to society) as relatively feminine, masculine, or androgynous (a mix of both masculine and feminine traits). Please read pages 395-397 (early childhood) and 505-506 (middle childhood) to learn more about this topic.

After you have read these pages, please watch the video linked on the main page for the course for this week. Then you will be ready to create basic observations. BTW, remember this week you have to be very thoughtful of observer bias. For instance, when you see a child wearing a pink shirt, if she is female you may be tempted to conclude it is evidence of gender stereotypes impacting her behavior–which we call gender typed behavior. But is it? Maybe it’s the stereotypes in YOUR head that influence this, and she wore the shirt because her mom made her, or because it’s just what she had clean that morning.

Planned Effectiveness

OD_20210607M_HSM322_1Discussions Week 4 Discussion 2 – Planned Effectiveness

Career Relevancy
As the firm prepares its marketing plan and strategy and tactics, it will need to consider how it will measure the results of its marketing efforts. If a company cannot measure its results, then all the planning in the world will not help the company achieve its goals. How the company determines its metrics and key performance measures depends on the goals that it set for itself. By learning how to determine the best metrics for success, you give yourself an advantage in the industry.
Background
Data Collection
The most notable element when it comes to employing a successful marketing plan is straightforward, especially alongside the information that we’ve already gone over: data collection. Building a marketing plan is one thing, assisted by internal and external analysis, but determining the success of a plan once it’s in place is quite another. The performance of a marketing plan is typically measured over the course of a year.
An organization can measure its market share, total sales, returns on digital media, and a range of other key performance indicators, or KPIs. Each of these will typically translate to direct dollar amounts, clearly expressed customer satisfaction or some combination of the two. Taken together, these elements can be measured to better determine any needed adjustments in the plan.
Perfected Performance Indicators
In the medical industry, determining precisely what needs to be measured to determine success can be a challenge—especially as we come to embrace the digital age. There are ten particularly notable KPIs to keep in mind when trying to determine the success of a marketing plan (Leighton, 2018):
Website Visits
Since a website is increasingly the first impression that an organization makes, seeing how engages the customer base is with a website can be a clear performance indicator.
Email Opens
Similarly, emails can track just how engaged consumers are. If emails are being actively ignored, something has likely gone wrong.
Link Clicks
Most engagement starts with the consumer clicking straight to the company website. Picking the right places to employ digital ads can be a game-changer.
Marketing Qualified Leads (MQls)
Building leads allows the marketer to tailor their sales and marketing experience specifically to demographics that they appeal to.
Sales Accepted Leads (SALs)
A SAL is simply an MQL that has been passed over to sales and accepted by that team, building on further engagement.
Content Creation Time and Usage
To measure the effectiveness of content, one needs to be certain that the time it takes to create it is cost-effective.
Engagement Rates
While consumers clicking through is important, it is at least as important that they actually spend time with the content. This KPI is focused on measuring whether consumers are actually reading or otherwise employing the content.
Conversion Rates
This measures how often a touchpoint, such as a link click on to the website, transfers to an active sale or interaction with the consumer.
Sales Revenue
Perhaps obviously, directly measuring sales is an effective KPI to determine success.
Content Return on Investment (ROI)
By combining content time and usage, conversion rates, and sales revenue, an individual can effectively measure their overall return on investment—ultimately showing just how effective their marketing plan has been altogether.

Prompt
Describe the benchmarks that a theoretical organization has in place for measuring their marketing performance. What are some of the areas you would need to assess to determine if more people are have visited the website, used the website to initiate services, or uploaded medical information prior to a doctor’s scheduled visit?
