What are the social scienxes and what do they have in common?

Write a formal, organized essay tht addresses the followng questions:

1. What are the social scienxes and what do they have in common?

2. What important questions can the social scinces address and answer?
3. What are the special challenges in teaching the social sciences to a socio-economically and culturally diverse demographic in today’s classroom?

Why had Americans strayed from the church?

Your grade will be based on the following:
45% facts: This means that you are demonstrating that you understand the content within the documents. It also means that you are presenting accurate facts from history, i.e. the events surrounding the time in which the document was created. These facts should come from your textbook or from lectures.
45% analysis: This means that you have a thesis (argument). Click on thesis

to learn how to write this statement. It also means that in addition to presenting facts, you are explaining what is historically significant about the person, place, event. To figure out historical significance, ask yourself, “Is this fact an example of similar processes going on at the time?” or “What were the immediate consequences of this fact?” or “Are there any parallels to today or long-term consequences?”
10% organization: This means that each paragraph has a purpose to present evidence in support of your original argument. It also means that your essay has a logical flow. Finally, there should not be an overwhelming amount of grammatical errors that distract from being able to read your essay.
First Great Awakening
This is a sermon that Jonathan Edwards gives at a revival in Connecticut. It was designed to bring the “strayed” back to church. Things to consider:
1. Why had Americans strayed from the church?
2. Compare Jonathan Edwards approach to George Whitfield (a preacher at the same time and had the same success).
3. Colonists, at this time were British, but they are transitioning to become an American. How does religion play a role in this transition?

What will be the firm-specific influences on sales growth rates forecast?

The actual eVal Excel
forecasting model must be
submitted with the assignment.
Open eVal model and go to the “Forecasting Assumptions”
worksheet. You will see 5 years of historical data on each of forecasting
assumptions lines and 11 years of forecast data in shaded cells. The model
calculated 5 years of historical data based on the company’s information you
entered while completing the assignment #1. Your job is to fill in shaded cells
of forecast assumptions.
Play with the model a bit to see how forecast changes.
YOUR SPECIFIC
ASSIGNMENT IS:
1. Introduction. The paper should begin
with a short introduction (explains the purpose of the paper and provides an
overview of the contents that follow) (5%
of the project grade)
2. Explanation of Sales Growth Rates – Include
an explanation about sales growth rate projections for the company for the next
11 years. Justify the terminal growth rate.
(15 % of the project grade).
You analysis should be based on your findings Step 1 in
the Assignment #1. Remember, the part of the assignment #1 was STEP 1: Collecting
information and data about the company and projections of the company’s future
financial performance. What do your forecasts indicate for the future sales
growth rates? How will the industry forecast affect future sales growth rates?
What will be the firm-specific influences on sales growth rates forecast?

Justify the terminal growth rate. Note:
it is difficult to justify terminal or long-term growth rates that exceed the long-term
growth rate of the economy, e.g., about 3%; in the short-run, higher rates may
be appropriate. It was the part of your assignment #1 (Step 2 of the assignment
#1) to find the forecast of
the U.S. economy growth rates (short-term and long-term). Please use your
findings of the forecast of long-term
growth rates of the U.S. economy to justify the terminal sales growth rates of
the company. You should reference the
source of the information about U.S. economy growth rates.

It is important to check that your
terminal sales growth rate assumption is not
greater than the cost of equity capital (See the number in cell B20 on
“Model Summary” worksheet). If your terminal sales growth rate assumption is
greater than the cost of equity capital, the model will not work, and you will
get error messages.

3. Explanation of All Other Assumptions – (20% of the project grade).
Include an explanation of all other assumptions
related to future operating performance including costs, margins, efficiency, capitalization,
etc. that appears on the “Forecasting Assumptions” worksheet of eVal model for the next 11 years. Any
changes in the assumptions should be explained and analyzed.
Note: We provided an
Excel worksheet titled “Analysis of eVal Assumptions Forecast”. This worksheet
is posted in Content – Assignment #2 and must be submitted with the assignment.
All assumptions used in the forecast need to be
explained in the written analysis. An Excel worksheet “Analysis of eVal Assumptions Forecast” should be incorporated as a
“table” in the written analysis.
4. Explanation and Interpretation of Projected
Financial Statements – Explanation and interpretation of the projected financial
statements and discounted free cash flows should include pro forma financial
statements (income statements, balance sheets, and statements of cash
flows). (15% of the project grade).
a) Your
analysis should be based on your findings Step 1 in the Assignment #1 and
projections of the company’s future financial performance. What do your
forecasts indicate for the future financial statements and cash flows?
b)
Please include the analysis of the Net Issuance of Common Stock (line 39 of Cash flow Analysis
worksheet of the eVal model). What does it mean “Net Issuance of Common Stock”
in Cash Flow Analysis? Why is it important? What does the positive or negative
amount of Net Issuance of Common Stock mean?
c)
What does it mean “plug”
of the model? Why is it important?
d)
Does your forecast correspond to the market conditions?
Does management anticipate using excess cash for stock repurchases, if so? If
not, what will be the source of financing of stock repurchase? Do you need to
go back to your forecasting assumptions and change them to make the forecast
more reliable? (Please do that and explain in your written report!)

5. Explanation and Interpretation of Overall
Forecast Results and the projected ratio
analysis (20% of the project grade)
Click on the
Ratio Analysis and Cash flow Analysis tabs and see a complete ratios and cash
flows implied with your assumptions. Do these forecasted ratios correspond to
your finding and your views about the firm’s future? What do your forecasts
imply for the future ratios and cash flows? How reasonable ratio and free cash
flow analysis of the future financial statements are?
Please also
include in your written report the analysis of the “Implied Return of Equity” that appears on the line 11 of the
“Forecasting Assumptions” worksheet of the eVal model.

6. Reflection – the students should write
a paragraph in their own words reflecting on specifically what they learned
from the assignment and how they think they could apply what they learned in
the workplace. (10% of the project
grade)

Organization,
Presentation, Spelling, punctuation, and grammar totally are 15% of the
assignment grade.

Writing The discussion portion of the
analysis should be about 5-7 pages in length (more is OK!), double spaced, and should employ APA
style and format for reference citations. Supporting data (e.g., figures,
tables, etc.) and references should be submitted limited to four separate
attachments in an appendix after the written portion of the paper.

The paper should begin with a short
introduction (explains the purpose of the paper and provides an overview of the
contents that follow) and then proceed to examine the four topics outlined in
the previous section.
Written
projects:
Must be typed, double-spaced,
in 12-point Times New Roman or Arial font, with one-inch margins

Describe a situation in the classroom or workplace where you experienced an interpersonal conflict and how you resolved this. Include strategies you implemented to resolve the situation.

The essay was written by me, I was requested to “Describe a situation in the classroom or workplace where you experienced an interpersonal conflict and how you resolved this. Include strategies you implemented to resolve the situation.“
The feedback from the grader was that the direct communication came across negatively and while you were trying to solve a problem, some of the conversation that was described had negative tones. They essay described your thoughts about what should be a good team, and what lessons you have learned from your mother, but we want to see the direct interactions with others when there is a problem. Do you present positive solutions? Do you directly communicate and work with others, and not only in your self-interest? Do you have interactions that are not intended to have negative consequences on someone else purposefully?

Critically discuss the history behind a representation (in literature, film, television, movie, comic book, web media, visual art), an object, a term, a community, a space, or a specific artistic convention related to sexuality as a social category.

Write
a (4-5 page, double-spaced) essay that builds a path to the present
using an example of your choice. Critically discuss the history behind a
representation (in literature, film, television, movie, comic book, web
media, visual art), an object, a term, a community, a space, or a
specific artistic convention related to sexuality as a social category.
Feel free to start your path from something we have touched on or
covered in class – but feel equally free to look beyond the course. Use
as many sources as you need for your argument and topic, but make sure
you cite at least three scholarly ones [monographs, book chapters,
academic journal articles], drawn from the course materials and/or from
your own research. Your path to the present can take a variety of
shapes: You can take a close, historically informed look at an
individual piece of the present, you can approach it as a comparison,
you can place the emphasis on the history with the present serving as a
mere jumping-off point.

Your final paper should meet the following requirements:
• Include your name, course and section, date, and an appropriate title
in the heading.
• Introduction: You should open with an introductory paragraph
containing a thesis statement which presents the focus of your paper and
the direction of your argument succinctly.
• Make sure the body paragraphs of your essay make points that support
your thesis and contain specific evidence. Remember to engage sources
closely, analyze their meaning, use quotations, and explain your
interpretation. It is important to clearly distinguish each source’s and
your own voice for your reader.
• Conclusion: Use your conclusion to reflect on what the path to the
present you have built means for the present. Knowing what your research
has revealed, what do you think about its starting point/object now.
• Documents must be written in 12pt-size of a standard font (Arial,
Times New Roman, Calibri, Helvetica) and double-spaced with a 1-inch
margin. Your essay must cite its sources and include a carefully
formatted bibliography/list of works cited (MLA, Chicago, etc. – your
choice of academic citation style, but stick to one). If you are new to
writing papers or just looking for some helpful writing and citation
tips, I recommend 1) Graff, Gerald and Cathy Birkenstein: “They Say/I
Say”: The Moves That Matter in Academic Writing (Norton) and 2) Faigley,
Lester: The Little Penguin Handbook (Penguin). You can, of course, use
citation software/Apps/websites but make sure to check and correct those
for completeness and accuracy.

PART 1
Personality Theorists are in the unique position of studying the psychological mechanisms of action within a person—a person’s “operating system”. They have the monumental task of synthesizing the best information from diverse fields throughout psychology (and outside of the field) into a coherent, holistic configuration. In the course of their work, personality theorists address fundamental issues of human nature and individual differences. It has been suggested that a theorist’s answers to the questions below will define their understanding of human nature. Below, I provided links to information that might help you understand the following questions better. Feel free to use the information (be sure to cite and reference accordingly, per APA formatting rules) or you may use your own research…
Free will or determinism? Do we have a conscious awareness and control of ourselves? Are we free to choose, to be masters of our fate, or are we heavily subject to biological factors, unconscious forces, or external stimuli?
Nature or nurture? Is our personality determined primarily by the abilities, temperaments, or predispositions we inherit, or are we shaped more strongly by the environments in which we live?
Past, present, or future? Is personality development basically complete in early childhood? Or is personality independent of the past, capable of being influenced by events and experiences in the present and even by future aspirations and goals?
Uniqueness or universality? Is the personality of each individual unique, or are there broad personality patterns that fit large numbers of persons?
Equilibrium or growth? Are we primarily tension-reducing, pleasure-seeking animals or are we motivated primarily by the need to grow, to reach our full potential, to reach for ever-higher levels of self-expression and development?
Optimism or pessimism? Are human beings basically good or evil? Are we kind and compassionate, or cruel and merciless?
→ For PART 1 of this discussion: Learners are instructed to compose a meaningful, but relatively brief essay that broadly addresses the above questions, demonstrating creative and advance critical thought (analysis, synthesis, and evaluation). By “broadly” I mean that you don’t have to answer each question in a distinct fashion. Rather, I want you to discuss YOUR “theory of personality” that synthesizes and evaluates each of the above questions. Above, I provided links to information that might help you understand the aforementioned questions better. Feel free to use the information (be sure to cite and reference accordingly, per APA formatting rules) or you may use your own research.
You are required to meaningfully incorporate Chapter 10 of the required textbook, and you are strongly encouraged to utilize credible-outside-the-textbook sources to bolster your essay.
IMPORTANT NOTE: There may be a temptation to proselytize or sermonize this discussion. DO NOT do so! I am looking for scholarly thought derived from scientific research and analysis.
PART 2

Prejudice is ubiquitous—meaning…it is everywhere!
→ For PART 2 of this discussion: Learners are instructed to compose a meaningful, but brief essay that identifies and discusses ONE (1) specific current/modern issue (social, political, religious, domestic, or foreign or some combination) that they believe BEST illustrates many of the concepts and principles of prejudice discussed in Chapter 11 of the required textbook. Fully explain why you identified this specific issue and how it illustrates prejudice and its related ideas. Additionally, discuss how the prejudice exemplified by the issue your chose can best be alleviated or solved for the better. I am looking for evidence of advanced critical thinking (analysis, synthesis, and evaluation).
You are REQUIRED to meaningfully incorporate Chapter 11 of the required textbook and REQUIRED to utilize at least one (1) credible-outside-the-textbook source to bolster your discussion.

Do older patients require longer appointment durations in audiology clinics?

the introduction does not do a good job of clearly explaining to the reader why the research question is important. the reader is left unsure if the argument is that they should be longer, or that they are currently long enough. there are too many high-level statements which lack detail and though these statements are often backed up by a reference, it is unclear as to the extent to which the cited paper addressed the specific issue discussed. sometimes the language is too indirect, which leaves the reader needing to infer what it is you are actually trying to say. be more specific/explicit and ensure that the reader cannot misinterpret your meaning.

what then follows through the methods section and the analysis section is unfortunately almost completely incoherent. there is no structure, no logic, no consistency in what is being described. in one sentence you briefly mention a speech test which is never discussed again, you talk about playing instruments and rehearsal rooms, you also talk about applying EEG electrodes but we are not told what stimuli are played, what responses are recorded or why. The main analysis seems to be recording how long people were sat in the waiting room and seeing whether this has an effect on thresholds at 3-6 kHz, which unfortunately makes no sense at all.

The question was asking you to explore whether the appointment time in audiology should be variable as a function of age. so for a 40 year old coming to audiology for the first time, do they need a shorter appointment than older people. do older people need more time with the audiologist either due to a lack of understanding, having more questions or having more complex needs. at the very least, we surely need to measure the length of a number of audiology appointments and consider which aspects of the appointment take what time and if this is different across different ages.

I’m afraid the writing is so confused it reads as though experimental design choices have been taken from different papers, on different topics with different aims and then muddled together. there is no evidence that any learning objecti)ves have been achieved with regards to research design and statistics.

On a positive note, the ethical considerations do appear to be appropriate.

Moderator:
The introduction is difficult to follow. There is no logical narrative and it does not help to set the scene for the reader. Why would we need longer appointment times for older adults? Who benefits from this? What are the possible negatives of longer appointments? What research has been done on this topic previously? Some of the literature reviewed seemed irrelevant and completely out of place. It also seems to portray older adults as forgetful and incapable of looking after their hearing, which is mostly untrue..

The point of the methods section is to indicate what you did and why you did it with sufficient detail to enable the reader to go off and repeat this test for themselves. At the moment it is completely unclear what the researcher is proposing to do here. Where did the EEG test come from? I thought they were evaluating subjective experiences of appointment times? What are the questionnaires that you refer to? It’s almost as if two completely unrelated studies have been put together here.

The plan of analysis is completely unclear. What is your main outcome variable? Why are you looking at hearing thresholds? Why does musical experience come into it? Are you doing t-tests or an ANOVA? How will a t-test reveal whether older participants require longer appointments? What is the control group?! This is turn makes it very difficult to understand how you would interpret the results.

The ethical considerations are appropriate, but perhaps a little generic. Are there any considerations that are more specific to your research design?
