First, read from our textbook, Critical Thinking, Reading, and Writing, A Brief Guide to Argument, 10e, Chapter 7, Using Sources, with close attention to pp. 268-269.
Post Your Original Post (OP), in Response to the Following Questions
Find what you take to be a fake new article from a news source on the Internet. Apply the evaluation methods outline in this chapter to argue that the site or the story is “fake.” Be sure to identify and analyze the three or four major factors that caused you to judge it as such. What visual features warned you the web page was suspicious? What other sources did you use to check, verify, or invalidate the source.
OP of a minimum 300 words is due on or before Wednesday, June 23, 2021. Include word count at the end of your OP.
NOTE about OPs: Students MUST post an OP no later than Wednesday, to participate in the Discussion Board, AND to have the opportunity to respond to their peers on Sunday. In short, students cannot bypass their OP and jump to PRs; it doesn’t work like that. Please re-read the “Discussion Board” section written in the syllabus.

Assignment Instructions for Qualitative Research Critique:
The Qualitative Research Article Critique assignment provides an opportunity for students to write a formal paper reflecting review and critique of one of the three provided qualitative research articles. The critique is an analysis of the qualitative research article.
The primary citations and references for the formal paper are the selected article (one article selected from the three provided articles outlined in the assignment) and Polit and Beck (2020), MSN 600 required research textbook. Other current professional resources may be included to support rationale for questions.
One tool to help students look for potential plagiarism is Turnitin. Overall Turnitin Similarity Score should be 25% or less. The Turnitin feature is automatically turned on for Qualitative Research Article Critique formal paper assignment submitted in Canvas. After you upload and submit your Qualitative Research Article Critique formal paper in Canvas, a colored box should appear. One may click directly on the colored box to receive more information. If you receive an overall Turnitin Similarity Score greater than 25%, revise and edit your paper as needed and re-submit by the due date. The assignment may be submitted as many times as needed up to the final due date. More information about Turnitin is available under Module 0 Learning Tools and the Turnitin Highlights page under Student Resources.
The Qualitative Research Critique Paper Question Guide lists the guiding questions per research component to answer for the assignment. Students must reference the chapters outlined in required textbook Polit and Beck (2020) to assist in answering questions completely. Particularly note aspects related to critical appraisal in chapters 5, 6, 7, 22, 23, 24, 25 and aspects of trustworthiness in chapter 26 of Polit and Beck (2020) in regard to completing an overall critique of a qualitative research article. A link for the Qualitative Research Critique Paper Question Guide is listed below. Please synthesize answers to questions on the Qualitative Research Critique Paper Question Guide and per Polit and Beck (2020) textbook to fully meet grading criteria on the Qualitative Research Critique Grading Rubric. The Qualitative Research Critique Grading Rubric is provided below.
Students need to address each research component thoroughly based on the content of the article, synthesizing and providing rationale for each of the statements. If a research component is not addressed in the article, students must explain whether or not this is justified and provide rationale.
The Qualitative Research Critique paper is a formal paper and should include a title page, abstract with keywords, an introduction, body of the paper, personal reflection/conclusion, and a reference page (listed on a separate page following the conclusion of the paper). The paper should be a minimum of nine pages and no more than ten pages, excluding title, abstract, and reference page. Points may be deducted for not meeting the page limit requirements. The personal reflection/conclusion should answer questions such as: How does the article contribute to your understanding of research? Does the article change your views of the topic? What do you consider to be the strengths and weaknesses of the article? Do the study findings appear to be trustworthy—do you have confidence in the truth value of the results? Does the article inspire confidence about the types of people and settings for whom the evidence is applicable?
The paper is to be written using APA (2020) 7th edition format including the professional paper required elements. Refer to sample professional paper in APA (2020) 7th edition manual for examples. Citations and references must be included to support information shared in the paper. Citations and references need to reflect required readings as well as current (within the last three to five years) professional sources. Please review discussion board section of MSN 600 syllabus for what constitutes professional sources.
Please choose one of the provided three articles listed below on which to write your critique. Choose just one and include the entire citation in your critique.

Stereotypes in Our Culture
Directions
For this assignment I want you to identify stereotypes you have observed or experienced. We are bombarded and accept stereotypes on a regular basis often without thinking about them or being fully aware of them. Everywhere we look we can observe and often experience gender, racial, ethnic, vocational, age, physical appearance stereotypes, etc. These stereotypes are propagated by the media, books, coworkers, family members, our own assumptions and beliefs, etc.
Identify two stereotypes you’ve observed or experienced. To help identify good examples I suggest you watch some commercials, watch a TV show, or walk through a store while focusing on identifying stereotypes. Ask friends or family members to give examples of stereotypes they’ve experienced or observed. Your paper will consist of a separate section for both stereotypes you identify. For each one describe:
1. the stereotype
2. the beliefs or assumptions on which the stereotype is based
3. what’s inaccurate about the stereotype
4. why you think the stereotype persists
5. what effect the stereotype has on the people who are stereotyped
6. what effect the stereotype has on society
7. what small steps you think can be taken either on a personal or societal level to begin to change the prevalence of the stereotype
8. how you have been impacted either directly or indirectly by this stereotype

After watching the documentary, please answer the two following questions:
What is the difference between “give a person a fish” vs. “teach a person how to fish?” Based on the documentary, cite one specific example related to “give a person a fish” and cite one specific example related to “teach a person how to fish.” Then, tell me briefly how you understand the difference between the two notions. (10 points)
What do you think are the constraints to the growth of a local small business in the documentary? List two constraints and explain them in details by using examples from the film (from the perspective of The General Environment from Chapter 2: which consists of demographic, sociocultural, political/legal, technological, economic, and global). (10 points)
Organize your answers neatly with bullet points to make them more reader friendly.
Support the answer with information from the case or the video (remember to paraphrase the
passages in the case when you want to cite them).
Outside information is not needed.
Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of the methods used by both mae chis who now live in convents and those who have joined Bhikkhuni Dhammananda’s effort to revive the Theravâda Order of nuns in Thailand.
Because they cannot enter the sangha, Theravâda Buddhist women in Thailand do not have access to high
religious status and to official ritual roles, expertise and authority. This essay invites you to examine how women
who want to live a religious life have coped with this situation. Have Thai women simply accepted the limitations
placed upon them or have they found ways to circumvent, to challenge or, even, to surmount them? If so, what
kind of religious and ritualstrategies have they recently deployed to participate and contribute more fully to their
tradition? While developing your response, remember to discuss the advantages and disadvantages of the
methods used by both mae chis who now live in convents and those who have joined Bhikkhuni Dhammananda’s
effort to revive the Theravâda Order of nuns in Thailand

Background: With some understanding of the legal system, the Clean-N-Shine (“Clean”) owners can now shift their focus to examining specific areas of law that create potential risks and liabilities for their business. The group knows from their business experience, that companies face severe and costly risks and legal liabilities stemming from tort law.
Unintentional harm resulting from accidents, such as negligence, can result in costly litigation. The Clean owners are concerned about the possibility of accidents resulting in injuries to their employees that could occur during the cleaning of clients’ property.
Winnie and Ralph have given you the responsibility of analyzing and summarizing potential negligence claims and liability that Clean might face in its business operations. You decide to analyze a hypothetical fact scenario to present to the Clean owners to help explain Clean’s potential negligence liability for accidents occurring on clients’ property during cleaning. The analysis will be presented at the next meeting with Clean’s owners and TLG. Your analysis will address only the tort of negligence.
Background Facts You Need To Know: Jack, a Clean employee, was assigned to clean Client A’s office building. Jack’s first task was to vacuum the floors in a wide hallway. Jack plugged Clean’s commercial vacuum cleaner into the hallway outlet with an extra-long electrical cord and began vacuuming. Before beginning vacuuming, Jack checked to ensure that the hallway was clear of obstacles and people walking. After checking the hall, he placed the cord to the side of the hallway out of the path of his pushing the vacuum. After vacuuming for a few minutes, Jack stepped to the side to turn the vacuum and tripped over two boxes that had been placed in the hallway by Client A’s employee since Jack began vacuuming. Jack did not know the boxes had been placed in the hall.
Jack fell and broke his ankle and was taken to the hospital ER via ambulance. A cast was applied after it was determined the ankle did not need surgery. Jack missed three weeks of work because of the injury.
Instructions
Report You Need To Prepare: You must prepare a report addressed to Winnie and Ralph. Winnie and Ralph will use the report in discussion with the Clean owners. The report must address each of the following points:
1. Analyze whether Jack has a negligence claim against Client A.
2. Identify any potential defenses that Client A may raise in response to Jack’s negligence claim. The analysis must explain why the defense may be raised.
3. Given the negligence claim and the potential defenses, draw a conclusion as to whether Jack or Client A should prevail in the lawsuit. The facts and the law must support the conclusion.
