Do the short and long-term goals I’ve laid out here match my interests, abilities, and values?

elow your action plans, reflect on this exercise and your next steps. Respond to the following questions in a few sentences each:
Do the short and long-term goals I’ve laid out here match my interests, abilities, and values?
What questions or concerns do I still have about my goals? How can I work with others to resolve my concerns?
When I think about achieving these long-term goals, how do I feel?
How has my thinking about my academic and career/professional goals and plans changed during this Cornerstone course?

make sure each goal is: Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Timely

Write an essay shed new light on the primary text, or the culture it examines?

This is not a retelling or a summary of the Ramayana. It is an examination by a modern person giving his or her scholarly reading of the work. The key question is, how helpful is this modern person’s interpretation? How does it shed light on the meaning of the work?

Prepare an overview/summary of the essay by examining these points:
Identify the author’s thesis in the essay. What is the author’s argument?
Present the major areas of discussion; these subtopics reinforce the thesis. Take time to look up any terms that need definition.
Prepare the evaluation section of the essay:
How does the essay shed new light on the primary text, or the culture it examines?
Select statements from the essay in quote or paraphrase, and evaluate each in terms of your own views about the primary source. If you were in a conversation with the author, what sections of the work would you be interested in talking about?
Essay format:
A successful review will cover at least 9 pages of the article
Write the introduction, which introduces the reader to the article and the figure in the Ramayana that the article focuses upon. Then conclude with your thesis: to what extent is the article useful for understanding the Ramayana? (How does the article shed light on the work?)
Write the body of the essay. The first part of the body is a summary based on your notes from 1) above. The second part of the essay is your review based on 2) above.
Provide in-text citation and a “Works Cited” page in MLA style
I will attach a document of article that the review should be over

Do you see any overlaps between Hassell and Settle’s work and Gadarian and Albertson’s work?

READ:
Hassell and Settle.pdf. 2017. “The Differential Effects of Stress on Voter Turnout.” Political
Psychology 38(3): 533-550.
LISTEN to podcast on “anxious politics” by Gadarian and Albertson, found

At this stage of the course, we DO NOT expect you to understand all of the article, or the charts. This is
your PRELIMINARY reading of the article. To read this article thoroughly, you will need approximately
two and a half hours. It is NOT worthwhile to merely ‘skim’ the article, or to fake it through only reading
the abstract, etc.

DISCUSSION:
Respond to the assignment in this week’s General Discussion area in Blackboard.
1. What is the independent variable? What is the dependent variable that the authors are
interested in studying?
2. What is some COMMON wisdom about this topic? (This is referred to as the “customary
explanation” and is found on p. 533.
3. Are stress and anxiety (as Gadarian and Albertson have studied it) the same thing or different
things?
4. Do you see any overlaps between Hassell and Settle’s work and Gadarian and Albertson’s work?
5. Is stress an emotion, like anxiety is?

Explain why not prosecuting the cases is the wrong public and social policy.

Prior to your graduation from AIU, you have been working as the Victims’ Assistant Advocate for the office of the local county prosecutor. You have a great working relationship with the prosecutor, Mary, and the remainder of the office. Normally, when you speak, the staff and the prosecutor know that you are speaking from a knowledge base that you have gained from personal experience, research, and reading, so they know that your comments are facts. You like to use APA format to cite your sources, but this bulleted paper does not need to be in APA format.
You have decided to speak with the prosecutor, Mary, on behalf of Maureen, a college student who was a victim of date rape. You want to convince Mary to support a change in the prosecutor’s policy of not prosecuting date rape cases when drugs or alcohol are involved. Mary has a strict policy: When someone wants to speak with her about changing an established policy, she wants the person to submit a paper of 3–5 pages containing topic bullets that outline his or her argument for the policy change prior to meeting her. This way she feels that she is not blind-sided, and that she has an opportunity to research the topic prior to the meeting.
You follow her policy and write a paper using bullets only, hoping that you can persuade Mary and the chief prosecutor to change their policy or, at a minimum, meet with you for a discussion about changing the policy. Maureen knows that other young women are being attacked and that, very often, date rape drugs are being used.
Mary has agreed to review your policy change letter if you write it. You write the policy change paper in which you have the following goals:
Educate Mary about date rape using statistics and information about date rape and date rape drugs to show her that Maureen is one of the types of victims who perpetrators take advantage of in these situations.
Explain why not prosecuting the cases is the wrong public and social policy. (You are also hopeful that the victim, Maureen, also receives help in her case.)
To organize your efforts before your meeting, create a detailed outline where appropriate that contains information for the following 5 topics in 3-5 pages:
List crime statistics reported by Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) and the National Crime Victimization Survey (NCVS) relating to rape and the strengths and weaknesses of each type of reporting.
Define the term date rape (or acquaintance rape; the terms are interchangeable) and how date rape is distinguished from stranger rape, statutory rape, and spousal rape.
List the types and uses of date rape drugs.
Describe the victim–offender relationship, including the following:
How victims are viewed by perpetrators of date rape
The special problems of date rape prosecutions
How society and jurors may view date rape (e.g., blaming the victim based on the perceived precipitation, facilitation, or provocation of the victim)
What is your position on this issue, and what action do you think would impact this social policy?
Use the library, Internet, and other resources available to you to conduct your research. Provide APA citations and references.

Define nondisjunction and use the subject of nondisjunction to explore aberrations in cellular division and chromosome numbers.

In this assignment, you will explain the basic components and energy
flow of a cell in a written podcast script containing three segments.
The podcast script requirements are listed here:
Podcast Segment 1 Title: A Cell Divided
Explain the purposes of cell division.
Describe how mitosis is different from binary fission.
Define nondisjunction and use the subject of nondisjunction
to explore aberrations in cellular division and chromosome numbers.
This can be done in terms of mitosis, meiosis, or both.
Explain autosomal nondisjunction in relation to Down syndrome. Use statistics and patient profiles to help engage your audience.
Podcast Segment 2 Title: A Tale of Two Cities
Choose five components of eukaryotic cells and compare them to a
part of a city. For example, the nucleus can be the City Hall, and the
chloroplast could be a solar power farm.
Be sure to point out how prokaryotic cells are different from eukaryotic cells, as if you were comparing two cities.
Podcast Segment 3 Title: How Energy Flows Through Us
Familiarize the audience with energy conversions in a cell by
relating it to a force that flows through us. Explain how food is broken
down into progressively smaller molecules with less chemical energy and
how that process releases energy.
Discuss how active transport by the sodium-potassium pump uses
energy from ATP to get a nerve cell ready to fire. (Research this topic
using a library and/or the Internet.)
Rubric:

Explain the purposes of cell division.
Mapped Outcomes: Summarize the
differences between the two types of
cellular division in eukaryotes.
