developmental milestone
Assessment Description
Special education teachers often consult and train staff members. Consideration of typical development and achievement of developmental milestones can help staff determine if a student needs a referral for a special education evaluation. This information is often used to select assessments and identify the effects of a possible disability. If eligibility is determined, an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) is developed. IEP teams describe an individual’s strengths, interests, preferences, and needs, while considering the characteristics of a given disability and its effect on a student. The IEP defines the specially designed instruction, accommodations, related services, and supplementary aids and services that will best support a student in accessing and achieving goals aligned with the general education curriculum. When teachers understand the effect of a disability on learning, they are able to prepare the classroom environment and use specially designed instructions to support students with disabilities.
Imagine that your principal has asked you to conduct a professional development session for staff members about developmental milestones for students. Referring to the topic Resources and your research, use the “Developmental Milestones In-Service Template” to create a 15-20 slide digital presentation that describes the typical cognitive, linguistic, physical, social, and emotional developmental milestones of children in the grade levels associated with your field of study.
The presentation should address the following:
Describe developmental milestones and explain why they are important.
For each disability category, describe typical cognitive, linguistic, physical, social, and emotional development and the atypical development of a student with the specified disability. Include examples of how the milestones may present differently for students with and without each disability.
For each disability category, explain at least one specially designed instructional strategy that could be used to enhance academic achievement.
For each disability category, explain at least one environmental strategy (how you would change the classroom environment) to increase success in the classroom setting.
Title slide, reference slide, and speaker notes.
Support the assignment with a minimum of three scholarly resources.
Refer to “Creating Effective PowerPoint Presentations,” located in the Student Success Center, for additional guidance on completing this assignment in the appropriate style.
While APA style format is not required for the body of this assignment, solid academic writing is expected, and in-text citations and references should be presented using documentation guidelines, which can be found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center.
This assignment uses a rubric. Review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion.Calendar

Using Excel, determine the descriptive statistics for each industry. Then conduct the appropriate hypothesis test to determine whether the average returns in each industry differ (use a 5% significance level; assume that population variances are not equal.) The results of your testing need to be shown in the space provided in the file.
Excel Lab #4 – Comparing Annual Returns
NOTE: You need to use the Excel functions/tools rather than just typing numbers into the cells. Please view the Excel tutorial video “Hypothesis Test for two population means using Excel” in the Resources folder and refer to the examples provided chapter 10, section 1, before attempting the lab.
As a financial analyst intern, you have been asked to compare returns for two high-growth industries, health care and technology. One of your fellow interns has already started the project and has randomly sampled firms in each industry. The annual return data (given in percentages) is provided in the “MAT312 Excel Lab #4 Data File” which can be downloaded here.

Part 2
Write a report that compares the descriptive statistics for each industry and comments on the reward and risk for each industry. Also, analyze the results of your statistical test and summarize the conclusion in the context of the problem. What are your final recommendations and why? This should be written as if you were writing a professional report to your employer, not an outline of tasks you did for a project in stat class. You can find a sample report (for a different type of test!) on page 373 in the textbook.
Submit both your Excel file and your report (as a word doc) through the assignment link here in Canvas.

Digital Journal Response 2 parts
PROMPT: This week’s Digital Journal Response has two parts.
Part 1:
Drawing from your readings on visualization and summary, I would like you annotate and re-present your understanding of Emdin’s (2013) TED Talk. For example, you may annotate his talk using the Cornell Method and then choose to re-present your understanding of his talk through a collage, a word cloud, a PowerPoint Slide/Presentation, or any other mode you desire. Be purposeful in this approach and think of how you may be able to engage your own students in something similar within your own classroom. Please, be sure to include a brief reflection discussing your experience and how/why you may apply this in your own classroom.
Part 2:
Using one of the “To Prove” activities from Harper (2010), I would like you to create a mini lesson around a topic related to your discipline. For example, you may want to do a “Throw Down” activity around chemical bonding if you are/plan to teach Chemistry, or you may want to select a theme or character(s) to explore around your favorite text, if you plan to teach ELA, creating a playlist related to your understanding of the theme/character(s). I would like you to capture why you chose to do this activity, what your goal is for the activity, the steps in the process, your rationale behind the choices that you made throughout, and what you learned. I expect you to create artifacts that go with this, so if you’re making a playlist activity, you better include the playlist with links (Providing YouTube links is always a smart choice). Also, note any modifications that you may make to the activity to suit the vast array of students that you intend to teach. Lastly, if you see any opportunities for crossover, please note these as well.
For the notes just one page. The PowerPoint 8 slides.
Then the mini-lesson 6 slides
Thats the ted talk
Learner Analysis
Who are the learners? How can you develop curriculum if you are not sure who will be utilizing the curriculum?
I hope thatcat least a few of you smiled at those questions…I feel that I’ve made similar statements regularly since beginning the development of the CTE graduate courses…as I learn more about each of you enrolled, I see how the development of the courses needs to change or evolve. For this discussion forum, try to identify who will likely use the curriculum you are developing.
Generate a learner analysis that identifies the characteristics of the learners who will use the curriculum that you are developing. Be specific for your population. The following should be considered:
General Characteristics: Include pertinent broad variables including age, gender, ethnicity, and past experiences.
Academic Information: What is the typical academic background of the learner? What content and educational experiences can be assumed for every participant? What specialized courses or experiences would some have?
Personal and Social Characteristics: Consider maturity, mechanical dexterity, socialization, motivations, and special talents.
Non-conventional Learners: What accommodations will need to be made for learners with disabilities, aging learners, culturally diverse learners, etc.?
What assumptions are you making about all participants entering into the training/course?

Vitamin E
Vitamin/Mineral PowerPoint Project
The purpose of this project is to better help you understand the different vitamins and minerals in our diet, ways to obtain them, recommendations for daily intake, benefits, deficiencies, and toxicities.
You are required to create a PowerPoint that is at minimum 5 slides in length (not including the title slide or reference slide). Utilize pictures and charts within the slides. Be creative! Your slides should have enough information to understand the point you are getting across without it being overwhelming. Since you are not required to dictate your PowerPoint, you will use the notes section on each slide for speaker notes.
Once you have your assigned vitamin/mineral, the following information is REQUIRED in the PowerPoint: VITAMIN E
Identify at minimum 10 food items high in this vitamin or mineral
List the RDA/AI/UL for the vitamin or mineral for all age groups
Discuss potential benefits of vitamin or mineral in the diet
Determine if there are toxic levels or deficiencies from the vitamin or mineral in discussion
Title Slide/Reference Slide. (Please use AMA reference citations)
