Using the Internet to Communicate

Using the Internet is now dominating our source of communication and information. Watch the video at Link
(Links to an external site.)
Think back to when you started communicating with others (yes, probably young). Create a timeline using Word or PowerPoint of the primary methods you used and the progression to the primary method you currently use. Focus on one method of Internet communication (other than email) that you currently use and why you use it to communicate. List the pro’s and con’s you have experienced. What do you think will be the “popular” method of communication ten years from now (this may need some research).

Process Analysis of a Real Conflict

Overview: In your textbook, please review and complete the Assignment 9A: Process Analysis of A Real Conflict (p. 468 – 469). The focus of the assignment is not the analysis of the pros and cons of each position being facilitated , but rather the approach, skills, and strategies used by the “facilitator” in relation to the process and challenges raised during the interaction. (Textbook can be found in this link https://reader2.yuzu.com/books/9780199361205 and log-in details can be found in Attached Files)
Instructions: This assignment has five key sections. Please include the section headings below to organize your work. Assignment is 100 points and all students will write at least 6 pages, not including cover and reference pages. Please include the video link you reviewed in your reference page. When completing this Assignment, please specifically address the sub-questions for each of the main 5 sections below, see detailed questions on page 469. The common mistake students make is not addressing each sub-question (especially in the introduction section to set the foundation for this assignment ) ; this will impact your grade; these are very important questions in the ” introduction” section . Each section should be written in paragraph form, I do not want a list of questions and answers; this is an essay (a paper) with sections. Students can include sub-headings, under the major headings, to further organize their content. Make it easy to read your paper and find content; this is good writing organization:

Introduction: ( see 9A sub-questions for this section)
Conflicts: (see 9A sub-questions for this section)
Challenges: (see 9A sub-questions for this section)
Alternatives: (see 9A sub-questions for this section)
Self- reflection (this section is not part of 9A; however, answer the following question): What did you learn about this process and/or chapter?

Describe safety precautions that you will take to perform the fieldwork for this project. (Note: You do not know what specific materials are present at the site initially.)

For this case study, ensure that you read the information from the case study scenario and address the following points.
Describe safety precautions that you will take to perform the fieldwork for this project. (Note: You do not know what specific materials are present at the site initially.)
Identify all of the hazardous materials (or potentially hazardous materials) observed and their classification (acid, base, water-reactive, or air reactive). Describe their uses and chemical properties.
Discuss at least four potential interactions between these hazardous materials, including their chemical reactions, showing the reactants and products. Identify any associated hazards with the products.
Discuss and justify any actions taken onsite and recommendations that will be included in your report to your client.
Your case study must be at least two pages in length, not counting the title page or references page. At least three sources, including the textbook ( Meyer, E. (2020). Chemistry of hazardous materials (L. Mauerman, Ed.; 7th ed.). Pearson. https://online.vitalsource.com/#/books/9780135276471) , must be used and referenced. Please adhere to APA Style when creating citations and references for this assignment.

humanism during Renaissance

Topic for Essay #1
Choose one of the following major themes of the Renaissance (see the list below). In your essay, explain its importance to the formation of the period known as the Renaissance, and choose one example from the each of the disciplines of art, literature, and music of the Renaissance to support your thesis. Your thesis will answer the question why the theme is important to the formation of the Renaissance. To support your thesis, use the information in Chapters 12 and 13 of your textbooks, as well as the materials posted in Modules 1 and 2.
Major Themes of the Renaissance
Humanism–a movement toward a more human-centered world view and away from a Church centered view world
Major Tenants of Humanism
During the Renaissance, humanism was an ideal that emphasized human abilities and accomplishments. Humanism focused more on human achievements and less on the values and beliefs of the Roman Catholic Church, which had been the case during the Medieval period.
Humanism was based on a renewed interest in ancient Greek & Roman history, philosophy, and art
In antiquity, the humanities or liberal arts were believed to contain the skills and knowledge necessary for a human being to be truly free
The Renaissance humanists focused on disseminating the knowledge gleaned from the the writers and artists of antiquity through formal education.
Renaissance humanists saw humankind as a source of infinite possibilities, ideally developing a balance of physical, spiritual, moral, and intellectual abilities.
The goal of Renaissance humanists was to live a rich, noble, and productive life within a framework of Christianity.
While Humanism emphasized humanity, Christianity did not just disappear. Christianity was by far the strongest religion and institution in the Western world during the Renaissance. However, the Roman Catholic Church as an institution was suspicious of the turn toward Humanism during the Renaissance.
Example Using Humanism as the Key to Understanding the Renaissance
Thesis: Humanism was an important to the development of the arts during Renaissance because ??? (one reason is that as a philosophy it focused more on the individual and on human achievements, and less on the values and beliefs of the Roman Catholic Church, which had been the case during the Medieval period.)
Literature: To support your thesis, choose one example from the literature covered in Culture and Values: For example, Petrarchs sonnets, or Machiavellis The Prince or Erasamus The Praise of Folly or Castigliones The Book of the Courtier
Art: Choose one example from art or choose the work of one artist: Jan van Eyck, or the Limbourg Brothers paintings from Tres Riches Heures du Duc de Berry, or Campins Merode Altarpiece, or Donatellos David and Mary Magdalene (sculptures), or Masaccios The Holy Trinity, or Leonardo da Vincis The Last Suppper, or Michelangelo, or Raphael, etc.
Music: Choose one example from music and reference the specific work and how it expresses Humanism.
Elements of Humanism and Realism in Music
“Human” duple rhythms of heartbeat, respiration and walking were more prominent during the Renaissance.
The acapella ideal in which the range of human voices was the ideal for all instruments, and the grouping of instruments by kind (recorder, string, brass) and range (soprano, alto, tenor and bass) represented the acapella ideal of the human voice.
Rather than the symbolic dominance of one voice (the chant) during the Middle Ages, composers of the High Renaissance sought to create often independent, but equal voiceslike in painting where realism, proportion and perspective replaced the symbolic representation of people as higher or larger regardless of their true position in space. (This excerpt is from the Interactive File in Module 1)
Josquins (p. 448) use of polyphony (many soundstexture is complex and is often imitative where one voice or part imitates another) in the Mass as well in the motet (a short piece of sacred choral music) illustrates the tenants of humanism. The development of polyphony in music is similar to the ground-breaking development of the use of linear perspective in the visual arts.

Research Assignment (Literature Review & Critical Analysis) (Due: 6/25/21 to dropbox)
The purpose of this assignment is to give students the opportunity to demonstrate their ability to identify, summarize, and critically analyze published empirical research quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods) and identify implications for practice, policy, and future research. This assignment should be in APA format and including the following components (page numbers are approximate, not mandates):
Title Page (1 page) Running head; Page number and heading; Title, author, institution.
Introduction/Background (2-3 pages)
Your first sentence of your introduction should identify the research problem. This sentence or two should address why the research is important and what the implications for social work (policy, practice, future research, education, etc.) will be. You should also be sure to outline the major components of your paper, including the sources of information, key words, and databases employed. It is also important to connect the topic area to social work ethics/values. What is the problem/topic/intervention under investigation?
Next, your goal is to convince the reviewers that the topic area is applicable and necessary to explore. This is accomplished by outlining the significance of the literature reviewed. Typically, there is a focus on at least three specific areas: practical significance, theoretical significance (and/or significance for future research/exploration), and social policy (justice) significance. The degree to which you emphasize these areas will depend upon your audience but for the purpose of this assignment, address all three areas. In sum, this section describes what is going to be reviewed (studied) and why it is important (to study).
Literature Review (3-4 pages)
Your review of the literature should only include the most recent or relevant articles (usually within past 10 years unless a seminal study being cited). Using previous research, you should develop the general background of the research problem and identify research gaps to show how your research experiment can further research in the field. Please use one of the literature review models outlined in your text and consider including a literature map as a supplement.
Strengths/Limitations of the literature reviewed (1-2 pages OR embedded throughout)
This is where you want to be sure to address the strengths and limitations of the designs employed including insight about validity and reliability threats. You may also want to address sampling (participant demographics and other applicable characteristics, sampling strategy, criteria, size, etc.)
Ethical Considerations (1-2 pages OR embedded throughout)
Be sure that your proposal includes an explanation of the ethical considerations with respect to the topic area and literature reviewed as well as other ethical responsibilities in terms of future research, policy, and practice, as applicable.
Implications (1-2 pages)
This is where you will address the impacts of the literature reviewed including potential gaps in the literature and areas for future research. You may also address the broad societal implications and how the findings/results summarized may be used. You may also discuss the ramifications of failing to study the problem further (would things change, stay the same), and why would that be a problem? Please be sure to address the implications of oppression, discrimination, and strategies to advance social, economic, and
11
environmental justice.
Critical Analysis and Recommendations for Future Study (1-2 pages)
This includes an analysis of the literature reviewed and a justification for what you believe would be the best design (quantitative, qualitative, and/or mixed methods) for the topic you studied in future research. You may even wish to identify your research statement/question. Please explain the rationale for your assertions and be sure to cite and support with links to your class material and the Creswell text.
References (8-10 peer reviewed scholarly references PLUS the NASW Code of Ethics, Creswell text and other supportive material): Please be sure that you have reviewed both quantitative and qualitative literature for this assignment.
