Criteria for Content
Students will synthesize the information they have gathered during the course to formulate a presentation advocating for a practice change in relation to an area of interest to NP practice.
In a PowerPoint Presentation, address the following.
Title Slide
Introduction (1 slide): Slide should identify concepts to be addressed and sections of the presentation. Include speakers notes that explain, in more detail, what will be covered.
Practice Issue (1-3 slides): Describe the area of interest and practice issue/problem related to NP practice selected in week 2. Explain why the issue/concern is important to nurse practitioner practice and its impact on health outcomes. Provide speaker notes. Provide scholarly references to support your ideas.
PICOT Question (1 slide): Provide the PICOT question developed in week 2. Describe each element of your PICOT question in one or two sentences, being sure to address all the following:
P-Population and problem What is the nursing practice concern or problem and whom does it affect?
IIntervention What evidence-based solution for the problem would you like to apply?
CComparison What is another solution for the problem? Note that this is typically the current practice, no intervention at all, or alternative solutions.
OOutcome Very specifically, how will you know that the intervention worked? Think about how you will measure the outcome.
TTime frame What is the Timeframe involved for the EBP initiative or the target date of completion?
Literature review (2-4 slides):Summarize the literature review completed in week 5. Discuss themes and special concerns. Discuss any unique insight or perspective offered from the literature. Recommendations (3 slides):
Slide 1: Identify the evidence-based recommendation for the identified practice change. Speakers notes should fully explain the recommended change and rationale for the change. Provide support from scholarly references to support the recommendation.

Slide 3: Analyze the recommendation in terms of fit, feasibility, and appropriateness as discussed by Dang and Dearholt (2018), ch. 8. Speakers notes add detail. *Note: information regarding stakeholders, fit, feasibility, and appropriateness may be based on personal experience or on information you found in your research. If the identified factors come from the literature, provide reference citations to support your ideas.
Conclusion: (1 slide)Slide provides summary points of presentation. Speakers notes provide final comments on the topic.

Length: The PowerPoint presentation should be between 9-13 total slides (excluding title and reference slides).

HOLDING THE FORT – THE HIGH ROMAN EMPIRE
With Trajan’s Dacian and Parthian Victories, the Roman Empire reached it greatest extent, although almost immediately after his death, his successor Hadiran relinquished most of his eastern acquisitions.
After years of warfare and expansionism, Hadrian and Antoninus Pius then oversaw a half century of peace, manifested in their both building substantial fortifications on the empire’s northern border. The thought was to use walls rather than armed forces to keep out the unwanted barbarians. In the end of course the strategy was doomed to fail in terms of its intended purpose at least, but the strategy reflects, in some way, an increased sense of the empire as a more or less culturally unified whole, defined by a shared romanitas (Roman-ness). This concept served to distinguish the Empire’s inhabitants from those “on the other side of the wall.” The very process of exclusion, one might say, sought to reinforce the idea of unity among those “on this side of the wall.”
The first discussion question is:
How do the works of art and architecture from this era (second century CE) that you have studied reflect this evolving conception of the Roman empire, its inhabitants and its culture?
THE LATE EMPIRE – CRISIS, RECOVERY, AND CHRISTIANITY
The Roman Empire, as we have clearly seen, was created, expanded, and controlled as essentially a military entity. Warfare and conquest were central to Roman culture, politics, and economy from the time of Romulus, fueling a constant, seemingly in exorable expansion of the Roman sphere of influence and control from the “seven hills” of Rome in the eighth century BCE to the entire Mediterranaean and most of northern Europe around a millennium later.
Yet, both during the Republic and the early and even high empire, Roman rulers veiled the reality of military rule through assertions of ostensibly more benevolent pretexts, primarily 1) divine support for imperial control (as manifested in a basically Classical style of art) and 2) the tangible benefits that Roman control brought to the citizens of its far-flung empire.
In the late empire, beginning with Septimius Severus and increasingly throughout the third century and into the fourth, the fundamentally military basis of Roman rule becomes more and more obvious, not only in Roman policies and behavior but also in architecture, relief sculpture.
The second discussion question is:
In what policies, what structures of government, and especially in what monuments do we see this? How does this broadly based development in the later empire manifest itself in new styles of architecture, relief sculpture, and portraiture? How does this “Late Antique” style contribute to the formulation, beginning under Constantine of early Christian, and ultimately Byzantine and Western Medieval art?

Then, in an essay of at least 5 paragraphs and 1000 words:

identify the main arguments used by supporters and opponents of American independence and why each side thought their viewpoint was correct. Then, identify the events portrayed in each of the three images and explain why they occurred, and combined with what happened after each event, show how they support for independence to grow. You should not limit yourself to discussing only these three events; simply use these three to help shape an analysis of various cause-effect relationships between the British and colonist actions.

Expectations and Criteria for Success
You should base your discussion with the information in the course content; outside research is not allowed. As always, be sure to keep track of where you find your information so that you can provide citations in your final essay. Citations must be formatted according to the MLA guidelines, including both in-text and a final source page. Essays should be typed in 12-point font with a simple, clean font such as Times New Roman or Arial. Use 1″ inch margins on all sides and double-space the text.

Successful essays should be carefully organized, with strong thesis statements and specific evidentiary support from the primary sources themselves. Your introduction should include a clear statement of what you will argue in the essay (thesis statements are never questions). The body of the essay will include at least three paragraphs (though you can write more). Conclude by discussing the key conclusion you reached and why (remember not to use the first person in formal academic essays). Be sure to revise and edit carefully.
