and access to customers Part of industry structure is
the methods of distribution, sales and support to the customers. Again
you may have limited data. Some countries follow the US model where there are
distributors, sales agents, and local partners. Some countries centralize
purchase direct from manufacturers. Again you may have limited data. For course

base your analysis of similar markets with adjustments to the new market.

forecast. In
the exploration stage for new markets the common approach is as follows:
1.identify size of problem by statistics on the incidence and growth of the

Bribery or the Cost of Doing Business?
You are a U.S. citizen recently assigned as the manager of distribution in a
European country where bribery is relatively accepted. Your job description
includes responsibility for receiving shipments as they enter the
local port authority. On your first trip down to the docks to sign for a
shipment, the customs agent in charge asks for a “tip” to clear the
goods for pickup. The value of the incoming shipment is around $150,000.

Opinion:
Before I ever went down to the docks, I would first want to get to know what
is acceptable and what would be considered a bribe. In this scenario, it states
that the country is trying to imitate a system where there is less corruption.
I would investigate if a “tip” is something that is commonly done at
the docks and if it is something that can be explained as to why the customs
agent would be expecting one. If I find information that this would go against
the country’s new policy, then I would tell the customs agent that I could not
possibly give him a “tip”.

Review Annas Case Study.
Anna is a 28-year-old Caucasian woman who has struggled with alcohol
use for most of her teenage and young adult life. She began drinking in
high school, at age 15, and dropped out of college partway through her
first year because she was missing so many classes due to alcohol use.
She has attempted to go back to school twice since then but has been
unsuccessful each time due to relapses. Beginning about age 12 she
experienced deep sadness, difficulty sleeping, thoughts of hopelessness
and hopelessness, guilt about small events, thinking she was worthless
and a failure and would always be, agitation at times but also ongoing
times of feeling empty. These symptoms have gotten worse over time to
the point that she has frequent suicidal thoughts.
Anna reports multiple attempts to stop drinking but has only been
able to maintain sobriety for 2-4 weeks at a time. Whenever she tries to
stop drinking, she gets nauseous, shaky, and disoriented. Within the
last 4 months, she has withdrawn from her friends, feels sad almost
every day, and has frequent suicidal ideation. Her appetite has
decreased, but her alcohol use has continued to increase, and she is
currently consuming approximately half a fifth of vodka per day. She
has frequent arguments with her parents, who are now threatening to cut
her off financially because she spends most of her rent money on
alcohol. She cant stop thinking about my next drink, and reports
feelings of guilt and worthlessness over being unable to stop drinking.
