Comparatively, how have other nations of the world been altered by their own industrialization for both good and ill? Compare your findings to what you have learned in this module.

IMPORTANT: It is crucial that you read and re-read “More About Discussion Boards” under the “Syllabus & Course Info” tab before beginning. (I’ll put the discussion instructions below.)
Background: In this module you learned that industrialization was a driving factor for immigration during the 2nd half of the 19th century and into the early 20th century. Industrial expansion created jobs, brought immigrants, and resulted in increased urbanization. It could be argued that industrialization had both positive and negative effects on the United States.
Prompt: Comparatively, how have other nations of the world been altered by their own industrialization for both good and ill? Compare your findings to what you have learned in this module.
Discussion post instructions:
In each Discussion Board you will be asked to reference, provide a direct quotation, and cite an article from a credible scholarly journal located by going to Library One ( https://docs.google.com/document/d/19CeVdmGblfZk1yR7L1h6pctgj8B8BHNV/edit ) No websites, textbooks, books, or compilations will be accepted. Please makes sure that your article is from a scholarly journal and that the name of that scholarly journal is clearly evident in your citation.
What is a scholarly journal article?

These are substantive, reliable, and well-documented sources of information on specific topics, events, or people. These are not websites, textbooks, books, or compilations. Websites, textbooks, books, or compilations will be accepted. will be accepted.
Here are a few examples of credible journals in the field. But, you are in no means limited by theses. You may find related articles in economics journals, political science journals, or from other fields of scholarship as well.

Also, you must reference, provide a direct quotation, and cite one piece of evidence from your textbook, Give me Liberty.
Please do not use more than 1 quotation from each source (two quotations in total).
Your direct quotations and in text citations will look something like this:
In Give Me Liberty, an argument is presented that “the Marshall Plan offered a positive vision to go along with containment (Foner, 912).
Please note: You also need a full citation for each of your sources under a Works Cited section at the bottom of your initial post. Replies to classmates require no citations.
You must use MLA Format for both your in-text documentation and your works cited. For more information on how to site your scholarly article and the video series, go to properly citing your work in the discussion boards.
You must be thorough and address everything that needs to be addressed. However, this is a discussion board, not a formal essay or research paper. Being thorough does not mean being overly verbose. Your initial post should be between 250 and 300 words. Each reply should be at least 150 words. Please place your word count at the end of your post and both of your replies, such as this (300 words).

Discuss whether this remodeling is reversible and/or preventable. What can be done to correct the pathologic process and return the cardiovascular system to its homeostatic state.

Your paper should be written for a lay audience, meaning that you should not assume any knowledge of psychology other than what the general public could be expected to know. In your paper, you should explain

H Your assignment in this short paper is to write a popular science article explaining one of the heuristics and biases I talked about in Lecture 3. Please watch lecture 3 first before starting the paper. You can choose one of:
Availability
Anchoring
Representativeness
Hindsight bias
Curse of knowledge
Your paper should be written for a lay audience, meaning that you should not assume any knowledge of psychology other than what the general public could be expected to know. In your paper, you should explain:
What the heuristic/bias is.
The psychological process by which it affects judgments.
One piece of empirical evidence for it NOT discussed in lecture. That is, you will have to do some research into the literature to find empirical evidence demonstrating this heuristic/bias. This would typically be a controlled experiment but doesnt have to be. It does need to be from a primary source (i.e., an academic journal article). You should include any sources in a references section (note that this section does not count against your page limit). You only need one source but you can have more, if you like. (In your article, you dont need to cite the source in APA style, instead you can say something like Researchers at the University of Toronto found that)
A real-life example of the heuristic/bias that your readers are likely to find relevant and relatable (again, do not choose examples I gave in lecture).

Comparison of Two Primary Sources

You will use analytical and critical thinking to compare two primary source documents.

Compare the United States Constitution (including the first 10 amendments) with the 1918
Constitution of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic.
Then think about the documents in relation to one
another. Use concrete examples to show what they have in common and what makes them
different from one another
What do these pair of documents help us to understand about the nature of facism and totalitarianism?
Your introduction should include a thesis statement the overall point you want to make
about what we learn from the comparison of these two documents.
Do not use quotations to speak for you use your own words.
Be specific use direct examples (and sometimes quotations, if helpful) from the article
to illustrate and back up your points.
Cite the source for these examples, using the Chicago style. Please note that correct
Chicago-style citations are compulsory.

Notes:
A successful essay will devote most of its space to comparing and contrasting specific aspects of
the documents, supported with examples. In other words, do not simply summarize the two
documents (although a very brief introduction to the nature of each source and the context in
which it was written should be part of the setting up of your analysis). Rather, focus on
analyzing the contents of the documents and thinking about what that comparison helps us to
understand about the historical questions weve been studying and/or about the advantages and
challenges for historians of using the particular type of source youre examining.
