Lit Review for Com 221

For our third paper, you’ll start with an idea of a specific research question, look for and summarize research that responds to that question, integrate that research into a 6-7 page essay in APA Style.
If you have the name of the author, it will likely look like (Rivera, 2015, p. 77). If you don’t have the author’s name, you’ll use the title, and it will likely look like (“Caring in Teaching,” 2015, ¶ 4). Note that the page or paragraph number is included; you’ll use the page or paragraph number if you directly quote your source, not if you only paraphrase or summarize your source. think about your use of sources:
Are they organized into sections or are they a series of summaries?
Are they responding to your research question or are they broadly related to your topic?
Are they a mix of paraphrases and quotes or all quotes/no quotes?
As you can imagine, the former for each question is best.

You might also want to take a look at your APA Style citations.

=An overarching finding uses thoughtful analysis to answer a narrow, insightful research question.
=Findings show a depth of analysis with integrated quotes and paraphrases from diverse sources.
=Multiple sources are (a) used in an integrated style that contributes to the paper’s overall synthesis and (b) correctly formatted as in-text and Reference citations.
=The introduction progresses toward a research question, the conclusion proposes a research gap, and transitions are subtle yet clear.
=Stylistically mature sentences are varied, and grammar, tone, and spelling are always correct.

Course content reflection

Journals entries are completed in weeks 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, and 12.
The journal entry for week three is submitted on Sunday of week three. This is to allow you to receive early feedback to apply to your remaining journal entries.
The journal entries from weeks 5-12 are graded cumulatively. This means that you will only turn in one document (in week 12 of this course for those five entries). Your journal entries must move beyond a basic reiteration of the text, should not be based on opinion, and should incorporate lecture material, concepts from the textbook, or other evidence from scholarly sources. This means you will spend extra time developing these entries. Each entry must be 2-2½ pages, typed, double-spaced, Times New Roman size 12 point font, and have one-inch margins all around. Please follow APA formatting to include a separate cover and reference page and all other formatting guidelines. Although you have six individual journal entries, the assignment should be submitted as one document, for a total of 12-18 pages (maximum, excluding cover and reference pages).
