What have you learned about yourself from this story/experience?
Introduction and Alignment
The Literacy Narrative essay begins the course with a personal, reflective, essay in which you will describe an experience that shaped your overall viewpoint of reading/writing/working literacy. Literacy Narratives tell a non-fiction story to make a point (thesis). It is often beneficial to begin with what you know, and search your memories for a particular experience.
Remember even though this is a story about yourself, your essay must make a point:
Why tell us this story?
To show WHAT point?
What have you learned about yourself from this story/experience?
How can it help you in the future in your personal life and with your present or future work?
Before you start writing this essay, you may want to decide exactly what is meant by literacy, and spend some time thinking about what literacy means to you. Discuss it with your family and friends. Find definitions on Google or look in the dictionary.
Upon completion of this assignment, you should be able to:
Demonstrate the basics of paragraphing, organization, thesis, audience, and basic APA formatting of a title page and body pages.

is related to the selected text
Describe the learning activity, what you hope the children will learn from it, how
the activity will incorporate the text, and how you will determine the effectiveness
of the activity
Film a defense of your classroom activity in which you reflect upon the process

You may focus on any one of the following: reading, writing, math, social studies, the sciences, physical education, or social/academic skills.
Allow the students to either listen to or — if age-appropriate — participate in a reading of the selected text (in whole or in part).
Encourage the children to think about and discuss themes and concepts from the text.
Offer an opportunity for active learning based on these themes and concepts (in other words, let children DO something with the ideas they’ve discussed).
Measure whether or not the desired learning outcomes have been reached.
Take no more than 45-50 minutes (a standard class period).

The defense video:
Graduate students who write a thesis or dissertation must go before a panel of scholars to “defend” their work before they are allowed to graduate. You will use a digital video camera (the one on your phone, tablet, or laptop will do fine) to record yourself “defending” your classroom activity project. Once you have completed filming, retrieve your video from your device (you may want to e-mail it to yourself if it is on your phone or tablet; if it is on your computer, just make sure you know where to find the file) and upload it either to your CCBC OneDrive or to YouTube (you can set YouTube videos to be private so that only people with the direct links to them can view them). Then you will copy the URL to your OneDrive or YouTube video and cut and paste it into the “add comments” box in the Classroom Activity Assignment dropbox.
Your defense video should do the following:
Show your face clearly as you introduce yourself by name.
Show a clear close-up of a school-issued or state-issued photo ID after you
introduce yourself.
Name the title of the book that you used as the basis for your activity, its author,
and the year of publication. If you have a copy of the book, show it to the camera.
Explain why you elected to use this book for the project.

If you were a retailer, are there any business functions that you would not even consider outsourcing to a third-party service provider (3PL)?
One of the many factors that a retailer, such as Walmart or Dell, faces has to do with supply chain business contracts with third-part vendors.
If you were a retailer, are there any business functions that you would not even consider outsourcing to a third-party service provider (3PL)? If not, why not? Your choice of a type of retailer could be some local one person business, such as Bob’s Fruit Stand or a larger company such as Walmart.

Question 1:
As managers and leaders it is important that we innovate and develop highly customized managerial methods and approaches. At times, a simple fact or research finding can encourage us to think and begin to design an effective managerial approach. Based on, “People who understand and manage their own and others’ emotions make better leaders,” and informed by this week’s concepts, tell us how you plan to master the art of managing your and others’ emotions to facilitate a healthy workplace and ensure great performance. Please be sure to propose an approach or a set of best practices that is unique and directly stems from your relevant knowledge, experiences, and observations.
Question 2:
Please complete Self-Assessment 4.1: How Much Career Adaptability Do You Have? (p. 91 in your textbook) and respond to the 3 discussion questions that are available at the end of this assessment (top of p. 93).
HIHF Reflection
Look back at the week that has past and write down a detailed reflection (at least 200 words) on what you have learned that you can apply in your life. Use the framework below:
Highlight (key takeaways) – A clear description that best expresses the main concepts of your learning experience. What are the main concepts / key takeaways from this lesson’s learning activities?
Insight – A deep or intuitive understanding of the main concepts of your learning experience. Tying together your highlights, what new realizations have you formed?
Hindsight – A recognition of the dangers and/or possibilities when looking back at past experiences related to your learning experience. Relate your insights to past experiences. Would you have been able to apply insights to these past experiences?
Foresight – Describes what can happen when lessons from the learning resource are applied to your personal and professional lives. How will your learning from your highlights, insights, hindsights, change your attitude, behaviors, and actions moving forward?
Explain how you have worked with the spiritual dimension in your practice?
Spirituality and Clinical Practice
In Unit 5, we discussed spirituality and religion as alternative contexts for social work theory. Healy (2014) states, “Some social workers and service users argue that social workers should respond to the client’s spiritual needs as an essential dimension of holistic practice” (p. 109). What is your view on this? Explain how you have worked with the spiritual dimension in your practice? Support your ideas with properly cited references from scholarly resources, which may include your text.
