utilitarian argument

1. Why does Tom Regan reject a utilitarian argument for animal rights? Explain the argument for animal rights that Regan favors? Raise a problem for Regan’s argument. How might he best respond to that problem? Explain Norcross’ case of Fred. What lessons does he draw from this case?

Based on the film Mindwalk and class readings explain in what ways the Cartesian (from Descrartes) clockwork of the universe management approach is not adequate to account for interdependency in complex systems such as HSEM environments.

Based on the film Mindwalk and class readings explain in what ways the Cartesian (from Descrartes) clockwork of the universe management approach is not adequate to account for interdependency in complex systems such as HSEM environments.
Using
systems’ perspective discussed in the Mindwalk by the female scientist,
explain what leadership qualities would you expect to see in HSEM
professionals who accept ecological versus clockwork thinking?
In practical terms, what are the benefits of systems’ thinking in case of Jack and his political agenda and aspirations?
What
does Goleman mean when he says that Emotional Intelligence (EI) is a
sine qua non of leadersip? Do you agree with this statement when you
consider HSEM leadership? Why? Why not?
Discuss
the 5 domains of the EI; to what extent do you believe empathy should
be a critical trait of leadership in HSEM environments? Does it
surprise you that the EI accounts for potentially more executive success
than IQ, expertness, and technical skills? Why? Why not?
Using
Lorentz question “Does the flap of a butterfly wings in Brazil set off a
tornado in Texas” explain the different between managing complicated
versus complex operational environments. What is the major distinction
in making decisions in complicated versus complex environments based on
the Cynefin? Why is it counterproductive according to McChrystal to
attempt to use complicated solutions to solve complex problems?
Explain the usefulness of linear thinking in the clockwork versus wayward swirl universe (use examples from video/reading).
Using examples from HSEM (to include environmental threats) illustrate
how you might or might not agree with McChrystal’s (2015) statement
“Attempts to control complex systems by using the kind of mechanical,
reductionist thinking championed
by thinkers from Newton to Taylor – breaking down into component parts,
or optimizing individual elements – tend to be pointless at best or
destructive at worst” (p. 68).

Any specific national security issue

Students must choose a particular national security issue upon which she or he will research. The overall goal of the paper is the following: 1) Capture a summary of the principle issue; 2) advance a thoughtful analysis of the issue; 3) relate the subject matter to the course; 4) incorporate at least five different sources you have found on your own in order to advance a substantial and thoughtful analysis; and 5) address a specific policy conundrum related to national security, intelligence, and/or terrorism.

All papers must be typed in 12-point Times Roman font and double-spaced. Papers must use Word default margins. Students are free to use either APA or Chicago styles of citation. Citation style, however, must be consistent throughout the paper.

Organizational Optimization Plan-Part 3: Learning & Development

3.4 Organizational Optimization Plan – Part 3: Learning and Development
We now have a deeper understanding of both our organization’s design and what they do. With the ultimate goal of leading change in our organization, we have to develop a deeper understanding of the culture of learning and development in our organization. Is the organization filled with people ready to learn and grow? Or is it stagnant? Perhaps a mixture of both?
Andreatta (2019) gives us a framework to analyze the current culture of learning and development in our organization to start creating a framework of growth.
Use the following outline to analyze your organization’s concept of quality:

Deaf Community Research Project

Your mission is to think from a
friend’s point of view. If you were a friend of a hearing parent (or parents) who
just gave a birth to a Deaf child, what resources could you direct them toward?
Pick at least 4 of the prompts below to build your project around. You can choose
more than 4 if you like. No matter how many you choose, you will need to
elaborate I great detail about each prompt.
No matter how you decide to present your material, you will need an MLA or APA
works cited for your sources. You will be required to provide at least a minimum
of 3 credible sources. Sources can include books, internet articles, journals,
Odyssey Magazine, the RID Views, personal interviews, Harris Communications
website, DARS DHHS website, etc. You may use a wiki, but it will not count
toward the 2 sources minimum.

• Advice – If you knew a hearing parent/parents who just bore a Deaf baby,
those parents would most likely be going through a grieving process
knowing that their child was different from themselves. Often parents also
think that this means their child has no future as a Deaf person. What
consolation or advice could you provide to parents going through this
grieving process? Make sure that this advice is founded in research and that
it is not just your opinion.
• Cochlear Implants – Once parents find out that their child is Deaf, they are
often pushed towards getting a cochlear implant by their doctor. This may
or may not be a good decision for some people. Although it is not
necessarily our job to decide for them, what are pros and cons for the
cochlear implant that would give the parents a fair understanding of what to
expect? Make sure you are being fair to both sides.
• Education – You have learned about various types of educational
environments where Deaf children can be taught. If you had hearing friends
with a new Deaf baby, what are some educational options that you could
describe to them to help them make an educated decision of where to send
their child to school? Make sure to describe more than one setting and
discuss the pros and cons to each.
• Assistive Devices & Equipment – If you knew hearing parents with a new
Deaf child, what are some assistive devices and equipment that you could
direct them toward to make their home more accessible? Make sure to
discuss many pieces of equipment that the family should look into. How
does the item work? How much does it cost? Etc.
• ASL Classes – If you knew hearing parents with a Deaf child, where could
they go in the Houston area to learn ASL? Also, even if their child uses
hearing aids or has a cochlear implant, what are some benefits to still
learning sign language (themselves and their child)? Make sure to add in as
many specific local possibilities as you can find with contact information.
• Laws – If you knew hearing parents with a new Deaf child, what are some
laws that you could direct them toward to let them know the current and
future rights of their Deaf child? What do those laws say? List multiple
laws and be specific in the rights presented.
• Other Deafness Related Resources – If you knew of parents with a new
Deaf child, what are various Deafness related resources you could advise
them of. This could include schools, agencies, counseling, vocational rehab,
Deaf groups, VRS companies, etc.

List multiple resources and be specific in
what the resources provide.
The presentation style and requirements are concerned, this is your time to shine!
Be creative. You can do a standard PowerPoint; however, you are highly
encouraged to be more creative and then you can gain more points in your grade!
A PowerPoint would be the most basic thing you can do…you should try to step it
up. You can make a blog, a webpage, a video presentation, a prezi, a multimedia
show, a multi-page brochure (many, many pages), etc. You can make a
PowerPoint presentation but enhance it with other multimedia dynamics. One key
point of your presentation is accessibility. In many of our classes, we have both
Deaf and hearing students. Henceforth, if you have anything with audio, you must
do one of these things: provide captions, provide an interpreted version, or provide
a typed transcript. If fail to make your presentation accessible, your grade will be
affected, you possibly will lose up to the half of your grade. You cannot have
something, which only has audio unless you make it accessible. This is even true
if you have links to something with audio. Also, please assure that the colors on
videos or PPT are friendly and easy to read by having two colors such as black and
white opposed to each other rather than green and purple. If fail to do so, your
grade will be affected due to lack of accessibly.

Schoology a Learning Management System Evaluation

Please use Schoology to do the evaluation for the school questions charter schools USA Florida-
Please read the attachment as well

By successfully completing this assignment, you will demonstrate your proficiency in the following course competencies:
Competency 4: Evaluate learning management systems for classroom instruction.
Competency 7: Communicate effectively with educational stakeholders in a variety of ways appropriate to purpose and context.
Assignment Overview
In this assignment, you will design a presentation evaluating an LMS of your choice . You will take on the role of a technology specialist in your school. Imagine your school was adopting a new LMS in the upcoming school year. You have been asked, as the technology specialist, to advise the school board by choosing an LMS you believe would work well for your school. You can choose any LMS, including the one that is currently adopted by your school, but you might also consider Moodle, Schoology, Canvas, and Edmodo.
Assignment Based on your work in this unit, select one LMS you feel best meets the needs of your school. Using the SWOT Analysis Template (given in the resources), analyze the various components of the LMS. Remember that a SWOT analysis is used to assess both internal features and external features. Then, use the template to create the presentation evaluating the LMS.
After completing your SWOT analysis, design a presentation to the school board. In your presentation, you must:
Describe your school as it pertains to the process of LMS selection.
What is your student population like? What other technologies does your school utilize? What are community and parent expectations regarding technology?
What needs exist within the school that the LMS should address?
Summarize the relevant features of the LMS you selected. When determining which features to highlight, consider the needs of various stakeholders—teachers, students, administrators, and parents. Also, highlight features that are unique to the LMS you chose.
Evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of the LMS based on the internal school environment. Be sure your evaluation is based on the needs of your school and classroom. When evaluating the strengths and weaknesses, your focus should be internal. Use these aspects of the LMS to begin your evaluation:
Instructional tools and features. What capabilities does the LMS have to design various content and accept and embed technologies?
Student engagement, collaboration, and creation.
Ease of use. For example, navigation, number of clicks, intuitiveness, et cetera.
Terms of service.
Evaluate the LMS’s opportunities and threats based on the external factors and stakeholders. Be sure your evaluation is based on the needs of your school and classroom. Use the following aspects of the LMS to begin your evaluation:
Parent needs and concerns.
Student privacy and protection.
Outside of school access.
Turn your focus to teaching and learning, after completing the evaluation. Explain how the LMS will meet a variety of student needs within your school. Provide examples of how the LMS will improve the learning of diverse students within your school.
Your presentation can be designed using any presentation technology though you may consider tools such as Prezi or PowerPoint. Remember that your audience is the school board, so your slides should be professional and should contain appropriate level language and facts. Include any sources or additional information in the notes section of your presentation.
Record this presentation using Kaltura or other screencasting tools with which you may be familiar. It is important that your instructor can see the presentation and can clearly hear you give the presentation.
Submission Requirements
Your paper should meet the following requirements:
Written communication: Written communication is free of errors that detract from the overall message.
APA formatting: Resources and citations are formatted according to current APA style and formatting.
Length: 10–15 minutes.

Nursing Satisfaction and Health Care Distribution

Topic 1: Step 1 Read the scenario.
You are one year into your first nurse manager position, and you have noticed that your staffing is way below average. Your turnover rate is 13%, and you have noticed that new RNs stay only about six to nine months after orientation. You are hearing complaints from staff about constantly orienting new RNs. You also hear patient complaints that staff members are not anticipating their needs. This is affecting your budget, staff morale, and patient outcomes. Additionally, a number of documentation and medication errors have occurred over the last three months, and these mistakes are contributing to poor patient outcomes.
Step 2 Post your response to the discussion board.
Discuss short- and long-term decisions to help alleviate problems on your unit. Respond to the following questions and, if it’s relevant, include your own personal experience:
Discuss the concerns of this unit and any priorities that will need to be analyzed immediately.
Explain your short-term (zero- to six-month) decisions and plan.
Describe your long-term decisions and your rationale for making these decisions.

Topic 2: Step 1 Read the scenario.
While we would like to think that everyone has equal access to health care, as nurses it is important to consider the reality of how health care is distributed. Identification of distribution patterns contributes to an understanding of barriers to accessing health care that include geographic realities (urban vs. rural) and socio-economic inequities (insured vs. uninsured).
Step 2 Post a response to the discussion board.
In your post, address the following prompts:
Discuss the meaning of distribution of health care within the health care delivery system.
Discuss how the distribution of health care affects access to care.
*Each topic requires minimum 1 paragraph dedicated to each.*

Ethical Issues and An Effective Interdisciplinary Team

Topic 1: Step 1 In your initial post of approximately 150 words, identify an ethical or legal issues or dilemmas that you have encountered in your practice. Use defining ethical terms in your post (for example, fidelity, beneficence, nonmaleficence, and so on).How was the situation resolved? Did the resolution follow ethical principles?
Topic 2: Step 1 In an initial post of approximately 150 words, respond to the prompts.
Imagine that you are working as an RN on a medical ICU floor. You are tasked to assemble a multidisciplinary team to review the visitation policy in the ICU.
Who should be a part of the team and why?
Who do you think should lead this team and why?
How might the team go about studying the problem and seeking a resolution?
What challenges might the multidisciplinary team encounter?

*Each topic requires minimum 150 words each.*

PERFORMING BACKUPS WITH WINDOWS

This project requires that you use an existing installation of Windows
Server in your Cybrscore Lab shell. You will include a reflective paper of at
least 1,00 words in current APA format that details the installations,
configurations, challenges, and solutions to complete the following systems
administration project:

1)
In the Windows server environment, you will
create two separate scripts within PowerShell that will perform two types of
backups of a given source directory and store the backed up files in a given
target directory (preferably on a separate drive). The first script will
perform a full backup and the second script will perform an incremental backup
on the remaining days of the week. Lastly, using the Microsoft Management
Console Task Scheduler, you will set up a schedule for the first script (the
full backup script) to run on Sundays and Wednesdays and a schedule for the
second script (the incremental backup script) to run on the remaining days of
the week.

2)
Provide three pieces of evidence showing that
your scripts were successful: 1) a copy of your scripts; 2) clear screenshots
of the Task Scheduler interface showing the correctly scheduled tasks; and 3)
results of the backup processes (specifically the files in both the source and
target directories).
