What do you think about the era’s of police reform that occurred in the past like the progressive or professional era?

During this week’s lecture we discussed the origins of the institution of law enforcement within the United States and its relationship to communities of color. Now that you’ve learned about various events that occurred throughout the history of law enforcement within the United States do you fully support the institution in it’s current state or do you think there needs to be another era of major police reform? What do you think about the era’s of police reform that occurred in the past like the progressive or professional era? Were these transformations helpful or harmful? Which group do you think bears the most responsibility for the poor relationship between communities of color and law enforcement and why? If you lead the next era of police reform what changes to the institution of law enforcement would you encourage?
During the lecture on Colorism we discussed how the phenomena affects U.S. society and race relations globally. Do you think that colorism is a serious problem in America or do you believe other race related issues are of more importance? Have you experienced colorism, if so how did it make you feel. What do you think should be done to address the global skin bleaching problem?
the response should be broken into sections when answering the questions
My view on Current State and Police Reforms/My view on past police Reforms/Discussion on Institution and Reforms
Who to Blame for Racism? /Who helped
Changes I would encourage
Colorism in Americas /My experience Colorism
Solving the global skin bleaching problem
my professor likes the responses to be in referenced to the power points to make sure we under stand the concept i will be attaching them to the files as well.

Describe the Case Against Energy Drinks Is Getting Stronger

No need for any citations, this is just an article review from a classmate. Please make comments and any questions you may have.

In The Case Against Energy Drinks Is Getting Stronger, did Alexandra Sifferlin convince you of the dangers of consuming energy drinks? Explain why or why not.
The topic I chose this week to elaborate on is “The Case Against Energy Drinks Is Getting Stronger by Alexandra Sifferlin”. To begin I consume energy drinks on occasion since I work night-shift at a hospital; I feel like it helps me stay awake. However I can feel my heart race inside my chest and I even put a heart monitor on one time while I was at rest position and it was 130BPM (beats per minute) which is extremely high at a resting position. I think in this particular story it didnt give true background on side effects and what the consequences are of consuming energy drinks. I dont think there’s enough research to prove that it is really bad for you, and our knowledge is very minimal when it comes to this topic especially since everyone reacts differently to certain things. Was this post persuading enough to make me never drink energy drinks again? No, not convincing enough. In my opinion everyone has the ability to stop consuming something when they know it isnt good for them but it’s ultimately uo to them if they want to make the switch. We all can understand from broad knowledge that energy drinks can cause high heart rates, high blood sugar and can even affect blood oressrure, etc. but until reaserches can prove energy drinks affect someone’s life negatively and that ws the preliminary cause then I dont think any writing piece will be effective in convincing people of the dangers.

Explain how the level of rigor increased from one grade level to the next one.

Explain how the level of rigor increased from one grade level to the next one. Consider the Student Expectations as they move from low-level thinking to high-level thinking.
Standards (TEKS) and Objective:
Write one TEKS -and one student expectation
Write one related objective (Remember Bloom’s Taxonomy! And use the ABCD method) Audience, Behavior, Condition, Degree
Example: The student will be able to identify the upper and lower case “Bb” after going on a letter hunt around the class and correctly identifying the capital and lower case “Bb” five times.
Materials:
List the materials needed for this lesson. (Be sure to include materials that will support individualization.
Describe an explicit connection to how the materials consider the cultural and developmental needs of the students.
Describe an explicit connection to how the materials consider various interests of students.

Differentiation:
Describe how you will differentiate for all developmental needs listed below. How will the lesson support a child who:
Speaks a language other than the language of instruction
Comes to school with a cast on his/her arm – How did you individualize your materials, content, and environment to support this child?
Has a limited attention span, but it is not diagnosed.
Guidance: How did you support positive behavior
Describe how you applied ideas from Guidance into your lesson
(See Instructional Procedure) Describe routines, steps (or guidelines) for distributing, using and cleaning-up materials.
(See Instructional Procedures) Describe how the lesson will consider students who might finish earlier or later than expected.
Instructional Procedures: 5E’s
Considerations while you are developing each of the 5E’s:
Indicate how long each section will last.
Include examples of high-order thinking (HOT) open-ended questions throughout all 5E’s.
Describe routines, steps (or guidelines) for distributing, using and cleaning-up materials.
Describe how the lesson will consider students who might finish earlier or later than expected.
Engage: (indicate how long this section will take) How will you motivate students to get excited about the ideas/concepts in the lesson? How will you spark their interest? Examples: thought-provoking question, scenario, picture, word, song, artifacts, a book, etc. No videos!
Explore: (indicate how long this section will take) How will students investigate the ideas/concepts through concrete materials that can stimulate dialogue and disequilibrium? This section should be child-guided with little to no teacher-direction – No worksheets!
Explain: (indicate how long this section will take) How will students explain what they learned during their exploration? How will the teacher describe, elaborate, and deepen on the ideas/concepts of the lesson? This section can be more teacher-directed with child-guided discussion- No worksheets!
Expand: (indicate how long this section will take) How will the students apply the ideas/concepts they have explored and learned to new scenarios? To the real world? This section should support child-guided learning and consist of activities that engage children in inquiry-based learning and connections to experiences. – No worksheets!
Evaluate: (indicate how long this section will take) How will the teacher close the lesson? Which of the following assessment tools will you use to evaluate children’s learning: for example, grading rubric, checklist, inventory, anecdotal record? Which assessment criteria will you use? Be sure this aligns back to the lesson plan Learning Objective. The teacher should be able to see skill mastery of the decided learning objective. No worksheets!

Connection to Theory:
How did the lesson connect to theory? Identify the theory from the theorist and use key terminology- Ex. Piaget’s types of cognitive play, Isenberg & Durham’ s types of social play, 4C’s, Vygotsky’s zone of proximal development, and/or Gardner’s multiple intelligences).
How did the lesson incorporated DAP’s “Principles of child development and learning and implications for practice”? (See Appendix pages 1-14)

Developmentally Appropriate and Culturally Relevant Approaches
How did the lesson incorporate four of the following developmentally appropriate approaches: oral communication, child-initiated inquiry, free exploration, teacher modeling, centers, technology, units of study, manipulatives, hands-on learning, the arts, cooperative learning, play?
How are you being culturally aware of your students and the ways in which they might feel included and/or excluded in your lesson?

Writing Conventions
Written plan is clear, well organized, professional, and free of grammatical and spelling errors. A reference sheet should be included per APA 7th edition for all cited references.

Describe two to four traits and/or characteristics of effective leaders in teams and organizations.

For this discussion forum, you will examine a case study of two leaders on a senior team, Ahmed and Damon, who are in conflict with one another. After reading the case study, you will start your discussion by describing traits and characteristics of effective leaders in teams and organizations. Your perspective on effective leadership will provide a point of comparison for how this team is currently led and how it would be better led. You will then analyze the points of conflict between the leaders, especially as they relate to issues of power and politics. As you read this week, you will discover that conflict can be avoided or better managed through appropriate structuring of teams and by fostering a collaborative climate. Using this knowledge, you will analyze how the team structure and climate can be enhanced. Finally, you will share strategies that may alleviate the conflict and improve team performance.
