Write a paper on the famous historical event or figureResearch a famous historical event or figure that interests you and that you do not know much about. Then write an informational essay in which you describe your topic and provide details. Explain why you think your topic is an important part of history and why it is important to remember, using evidence from three to five credible, relevant sources. Use MLA style to properly cite your sources, both in the text and on a Works Cited page.
Your first paragraph should contain a Hook or sentence to catch the interest of your reader. It should also have enough background information to create a general overview and to frame your topic for readers. The importance of your main idea to readers and how the topic relates to their lives. It should also have a thesis statement that states your main ideas and previews the topics of the body paragraphs in the order they will appear.
The next 3 paragraphs should give the reader the information you have gathered to support your first paragraph or subject you have researched.
You MUST CITE 3 – 5 Credible Resources. Meaning where did you get your information from. Websites, books, ……
You also must use MLA formatting for your citing of sources.
Website EX: Format: Website Name. Day Month Year, URL.
An MLA website citation includes the author’s name, the title of the page (in quotation marks), the name of the website (in italics), the publication date, and the URL (without “https://”).
Body Paragraphs: Lesson 8.2
Body paragraphs express your main ideas, one paragraph at a time. This is the part of your essay that will teach your readers the most about your topic, so it’s important to make it count!
Topic sentences appear at the start of each body paragraph. A topic sentence tells readers what the paragraph will be about. It forecasts the ideas to come. The rest of the sentences in the paragraph will all support and connect to that topic sentence.
At the end of the body paragraph, a concluding sentence directly sums up or reflects on the main idea and topic sentence of that paragraph.
Facts and Data as Evidence
Each body paragraph should contain evidence that supports its main point. All evidence should be relevant—meaning that it should connect to the paragraph’s topic sentence. If a piece of evidence does not connect, move it or delete it!
Evidence can include:
definitions
concrete details
quotations
facts
statistics
After you provide each piece of evidence, use your own words to analyze or interpret how the evidence connects to your topic. Make sure to properly cite every piece of evidence that comes from an outside source.
Transitional Words and Phrases
Transitional words and phrases help connect your ideas throughout an essay. They clearly show readers how your ideas are organized and how they are related. These useful words and phrases also help with the flow of your writing, making it clear you are not simply going from one idea to the next.
Transitions can signal cause and effect, sequence, continuation, or contrast. You can use transitions such as these in an informational essay:
first
then
later
eventually
for example
according to
additionally
also
therefore
This is an overview of what you should write in your 3 Body Paragraphs for your Informational Essay. In each paragraph, be sure to include
a topic sentence that states the main idea of the paragraph
several pieces of evidence (facts or data) that relate to the topic sentence
a concluding sentence that wraps up your paragraph
transitional words and phrases
Writing Your Conclusion Lesson 9.2
The Conclusion reminds readers of the most important points in your essay and restates why they matter.
An effective conclusion does the following:
summarizes the main ideas of the essay
restates the thesis statement
states the topic’s importance
links back to the introduction
What Not to Include
An effective conclusion should not
introduce any new ideas
introduce any new evidence
The end of your essay is not the time to bring up new information! It is the time for summarizing and illustrating any last connections for your readers.

Do you think Ehrenreich’s experience would be different in today’s economy?
Part 1:
Answer the following questions, from readings, in “answer and question format”:
Many campus and advocacy groups are currently involved in struggles for a “living wage.” How do you think a living wage should be calculated?
Were you surprised by the casual reactions of Ehrenreich’s coworkers when she revealed herself as an undercover writer? Were you surprised that she wasn’t suspected of being “different” or out-of-place despite her graduate-level education and usually comfortable lifestyle?
Many of Ehrenreich’s colleagues relied heavily on family—for housing and help with child-care, by sharing appliances and dividing up the cooking, shopping, and cleaning. Do you think Americans make excessive demands on the family unit rather than calling for the government to help those in need?
Nickel and Dimed takes place in 1998-2000, a time of unprecedented prosperity in America. Do you think Ehrenreich’s experience would be different in today’s economy? How so?
After reading Nickel and Dimed, do you think that having a job—any job—is better than no job at all? Did this book make you feel angry? Better informed? Relieved that someone has finally described your experience? Galvanized to do something.
Part 2: Essay Format
In two pages (not including cover or reference pages), write an Essay that addresses your views on low wage workers need for a $15.00 minimum wage in the US, including making an argument for or against the $15.00 minimum wage. Students are expected to cite sources to support arguments and format citations and reference list using APA (American Psychological Association -sixth edition).
As you think about your argument for or against the $15.00 minimum wage, consider some of the following questions:
What is a living wage? How much is it today? Is it really a living wage?
Why do you think caused the pay gap between men and women and how can we close the gap?
What are some of the challenges associated with organizing for increasing minimum wage to $15.00 an hour? Are some of the challenges specific to any low wage groups (i.e., women, young adults, elderly, or people disability, etc.) or industries (i.e., retail, restaurant, or domestic workers, etc.)
What are some of the key moments in the environmental history of the United States?
Since the early 1990s there has been an increase in the claims that poor, heavily minority communities bear a disproportionate amount of the negative health and environmental risks from the siting of polluting facilities, such as chemical factories, oil refineries, slaughterhouses, and so on. This problem has a name: environmental racism. Environmental social problems need environmental social solutions. They need an environmental sociological imagination for how to bring about justice in the biggest community of all.
In this week’s initial posting, consider the following questions.
How big of a problem is environmental injustice? In other words, should other problems take precedence?
What are some of the key moments in the environmental history of the United States?
How can fair treatment and meaningful involvement help promote environmental justice?

As a master’s-level health care practitioner, you are expected to consider a number of factors when supporting change by analyzing the feasibility of a new initiative or identifying an issue within your organization. For example, you must take into consideration the various types of risk (such as patient safety, physical plant, financial, or reputation), as well as the present and future value of the service line or economic opportunity you are invested in. Additionally, you must also balance your ethical and moral responsibility to provide quality care to patients and populations while protecting your organization’s assets and economic viability in the near and long terms.
For this assignment, you will develop a 10-slide business PowerPoint for the economic issue you have been working with as your topic in the previous week. MY TOPIC IS THE SHORTAGE OF RESOURCES INCLUDING STAFF, SUPPLIES,
EQUIPMENT, AND PATIENT BEDS RELATED TO FINANCIAL CONSTRAINTS AND STAFFING PROBEMS
This presentation asks you to examine the feasibility and cost-benefit considerations of implementing a proposed solution for your chosen issue, as well as analyze ways to mitigate risks.
Be sure to address each main point. Read the performance-level descriptions for each criterion to see how your work will be assessed. In addition, note the requirements for document format and length and for supporting evidence. Review the assignment instructions and scoring guide to ensure you understand the work you will be asked to complete and how it will be assessed.
You may also wish to consult the Guidelines for Effective PowerPoint Presentations [PPTX] if you need additional guidance as you are assembling your presentation.
Overall, your assignment submission will be assessed on the following criteria:
Summarize the problem and the potential impact the health care economic issue has on you, your colleagues, your organization, and the community at large.
This is an opportunity to tell your story and what the initiative means to you as a health care practitioner. Remember, this is a presentation. So, you want to be engaging and persuasive in order to build support for what you will be proposing to do later in the presentation.
