Connections
Two Kinds of Research
Let’s say that a researcher wants to find out whether the 400,000 adults in a county are satisfied or dissatisfied with their public schools. She can’t very well ask them all, so she decides to ask 2,000 of them. Although that’s a very small percentage [what is it, by the way?], 2000 itself is a big enough number to produce reliable results IF chosen at random to avoid bias and judgment. To do so she will use random sampling.
It’s also too large a population to observe and interview all of them, but that’s OK because there’s a very basic question here which can be easily asked, answered, and collected. This is a single issue which is simple but also significant; It requires wide and broad coverage, like a wide shallow pond. This study describes one kind or branch of research.
The main question can also be written as a statement which can be tested; proven or disproven, so to speak. In this way, despite a huge amount of statistical data, the researcher can report the findings by repeating the question; and then the hypothesis, reporting that it was either confirmed or rejected, with statistics and analysis to support it. Another researcher wishes to study the public or community status of veteran high school teachers in the county: when they’re out and about and “in the marketplace” so to speak. He decides on carefully focused observation of those teachers as they go about their daily lives outside of the school over a period of several months.
While “veteran H S teachers” must be defined, this is clearly a much smaller group and may be a small enough population to study all of them. But more likely it’s still too large because such time-consuming and exhaustive observation is required, that a small number of subjects – veteran teachers – is necessary.
This study requires intense and in-depth coverage, like a deep narrow well. That describes the other branch of research, where a human interest question is explored: through motives, or relationships, or an everyday phenomenon. Interpretation, judgment, and/or potential bias in this kind of study all focus entirely on the researcher, who must avoid polluting the results by finding what he wants to find. The qualitative researcher reports the findings in narrative form and not with empirical evidence; through in-depth composition rather than statistics & tables.
About This Unit
As our course introduction, Unit 1 begins by considering the nature and purpose of research, and explores research data, research designs, and applications of education research. From the very beginning our study of research includes personal articulation of educational issues or problems which each student identifies as professionally and personally significant. Besides sharing your profile, and posting early reflections, you will also create a working bibliography this unit, followed by a research proposal in the next unit. (Unit 2).
Unit Objectives
Upon successful completion of this unit’s activities students will:
Understand and appreciate the nature and purpose of research data and its appropriate applications for education; and
Understand the applications of both qualitative and quantitative research methods, and appreciate the values and essential differences between them.
Identify topics worthy of further investigation as a thesis or capstone
Create a reserach bibliography

The Process of Research Writing – Open Textbook Library
The title of this book is The Process of Research Writing, and in the nutshell, that is what the book is about. A lot of times, instructors and students tend to separate “thinking,” “researching,” and “writing” into different categories that aren’t necessarily very well connected. First you think, then you research, and then you write.

Content and Assignments
Your course content and assignments are arranged here in the order that you should work through them.
1.1 A little about me – Read the document titled All about me and select 3-4 questions that you are comfortable answering. In the pray and chat area, post your asnwers to the questions you have selected.
1.2 Journal – Identify three topics you are interested in reseraching further for your capstone/thesis. Include a brief descriiption of each of your potential topics and why you feel each topic is worthy of further study.
1.3 Begin an annotated bibliogrpahy for your research topics. This intial bibliography assignment should include at least 10 peer reviewed research articles. You should have several articles for each potential topic. Use headings to organize your bibliography. Your bibliography must be formatted using APA 7th edition. You will be adding to this bibliography in the upcoming weeks.
Ongoing assignment: As you create your bibliography, start organizing your reserach and notes so you are reaady to start writing your review of literature in the next couple weeks.

write a paragraph describing your idea for your research essay and explaining, in detail, what examples from your chosen short story or poem you intend to analyze in your research essay.

Essay 2 will ask you to write a plan for your research essay. The assignment must have the following parts:
write a paragraph describing your idea for your research essay and explaining, in detail, what examples from your chosen short story or poem you intend to analyze in your research essay. Which short story or poem will you choose and why? Which perspective (biographical, historical, gender, or cultural) do you think would best show an outside influence on your chosen work? What examples from your literary work will you use to support your idea? —–FOR EXAMPLE, write about the short poem “Excuse Me America” and U.S.-Cambodia relations”
An annotated bibliography with at least three MLA cited academic sources. Each citation will include a 3-4 sentence descriiption of the main topic of this source and how it can support your essay idea. See the sample annotated bibliography on Blackboard for annotated bibliography format.

How would you use the bioethical checklist recommended by Bennett and Naranja to address this situation?

1)Access the Nano.gov web site. Click on Nanotechnology 101 and read about, what it is and how it works. Then click on Nanotechnology and You and review the 6 subsections.
2)After reading and studying information about nanotechnology, outline a research study question that measures the impact of nanotechnology in health information technology.
3)Read this case study and answer the questions below:

Case Study: Consider the following scenario: A patient with diabetes is about to be stamped
with a tattoo that will identify the patient at the molecular level; the tattoo comprises tiny particles that are configured to detect biochemical shifts in metabolism
to monitor glucose levels. This is now a part of the scientific revolution related to
the use of nanotechnologies and nanomaterials in the field of nanomedicine and
may become a common treatment for diabetes. Tattoos used to monitor glucose
levels are an example of the miniaturization of medicine. This particular patient
has watched sci-fi movies, is familiar with the term “grey goo,” and is fearful of the
treatment approach. The physician explains to the patient that the use of the tattoo
will be the best for her treatment plan. When the physician leaves the room, the patient states, “I don’t know about this tattoo thing. I have never wanted a tattoo,
and this sounds like some sort of sci-fi movie I watched a while back.”

a) How would you use the bioethical checklist recommended by Bennett and Naranja to address this situation? (See
(. Getting nano tattoos right – a checklist of legal and ethical hurdles for an emerging nanomedical technology. Semantic Scholar.

b) What ethical principles are at play within this scenario?

c) How might you educate the patient on what nanotechnology is and how it works to alleviate concerns?

d) What common treatments for smoking cessation and cardiac disease might you use to compare the tattoo treatment to and to explain how nanotechnology works?

Discuss on Critical Ethnography for Urban Planning Methods

Discuss on Critical Ethnography for Urban Planning MethodsThis 25-page paper constitutes the methods chapter for my dissertation, which uses an ethnographic approach to urban planning. It lies at the intersection of urban planning and sociology. It asks how “storytelling” as a method can advance our knowledge about the built environment. The research explores the lived experiences of Black trans women in the District of Columbia, an overlooked and understudied population. The researcher is non-trans nor Black but exercised methods that dismantle the researcher/participant hierarchy to gain access and build trust. Due to the difficult-to-reach nature of the studied population, snowball sampling was integral for recruiting participants. The ethnographies led the researcher to locate the physical site in the urban environment where the studied population assembled and formed a community. Moreover, the researcher asked participants to produce mental maps to visualize how they perceive the built environment and help planners further understand their lived experiences. Please focus on:
– Storytelling as a method for spatial knowledge
– Methods for understanding liminality and spaces of marginalization [subaltern and invisible social constituencies]
– Accessing difficult-to-reach populations and snowball sampling
– Importance of critical ethnography for urban planning methods
– Mental mapping and psychogeography

Write a paper about changing retail trends , challenges and opportunities in the gulf countries

Write a paper about changing retail trends , challenges and opportunities in the gulf countries
I have attached my proposal for my PhD and I attached the direction of my thesis that I made, now I have to start writing the literature review so in the beginning I want you to write about the meaning of international retails and how it works and more details about it , than to discuss the changing trends in gulf countries that happened for example talk in deep about how they were relying on the oil than they changed the retail trends and opened the international market after this talk about the challenges happened and will happen in the future and then I want you to discuss the opportunities in deeply about it and whats my current argument ,moreover to write a small summary about each county in the middle east and how was the international market going on in it and mention later that not all of the gulf countries made a good business and because of this we will focus about only UAE and KSA,
I also wants you to talk more about the international market theories because the supervisor told me to talk about all of the international market theories.

Analyze Project Alternatives Using PW and FW

Analyze Project Alternatives Using PW and FWThe CIO has asked you to conduct an FW analysis to inform their decision on renewing the contract for hosting the corporate website cluster with the current local vendor or replacing the current vendor with Amazon Web Services (AWS). Recently, the local vendor has been having issues with climate control and site security. The move needs to be done ASAP. You need to develop courses of action that includes FW analysis to compare the two alternatives, local vendor, or AWS. This work was not included in the current budget, so you will need to also propose adjustments to the currently forecasted budget, as well. You will want to include budget Excel spreadsheets and cash-flow diagram(s).

You are given the following information:

Current Vendor: Starting next year, renewing the contract with the current vendor will require a $1,000,000 capital investment in the current vendor’s firm for each year for a period of 8 years. Googolplex is expected to earn 14% per year on this capital investment expense due to contract incentives from the vendor.

AWS: Starting next year, initiating a contract for hosting services with AWS will require a payment of $800,000 per year for 8 years. Googolplex is expected to earn 10% per year on this capital investment expense due to contract incentives from AWS. AWS will also provide a $50,000 credit at the end of the contract if Googolplex renews its contract at that time.

Conduct FW analysis on each of the two alternatives. Use this analysis to offer a recommendation based on your comparative FW findings. Include recommendations for:

Budget reductions in other areas.
Both economic and non-economic project alternative attributes.
Future cash flows to fund the project.
Linkage to strategic plans with vision, mission, goals, and objectives.
Ensure your recommendation conveys linkages to Googolplex strategic priorities. Show your analysis, to include your cash-flow diagrams.
