INSTRUCTIONS

You are a mutual fund manager for a successful investment company. You have been approached by a retail
investor to create an investment portfolio of six funds with an initial capital outlay of $500,000. The investor,
although risk averse, is aiming for a minimum return of 3.5% per annum.
You are required to construct an appropriate portfolio from your own selection of funds and to explain why you
have chosen them.
Funds can be found on most investment company websites (including Old Mutual, one of the largest) and can
be sourced anywhere worldwide.

Objective: Due to online shopping and changes in marketing strategies we are asked more and more to review products and services. It is always useful to be able to offer a measured, logical, and honest response to any request for a review. Film reviews are a fun way to explore how to write a review and to determine what is appropriate and what is not appropriate when writing in this genre. To that end we will view a film, look at some reviews of some current films and write a review of 2-4 pages.
Here are some other types of reviews you may be asked to write:
1. Employee/employer reviews
2. Product or software reviews
3. Literature reviews (when doing research)
4. Book reviews
5. Process reviews (how well does a new process at your job work)
There are many others, but this gives you an idea of what you can expect going into a university or career.
Method: After seeing the film Europa Report writer a 2-4page paper that honestly and thoroughly reviews the film. Treat your essay as if you are writing for an audience that might be planning to go see the film. Do not just retell the plot of the film. Discuss other things such as the acting, setting, special effects, sounds (Foley work), and musical score. You can discuss the nature of how the story is told, but not the entire plot.
If you choose to work in pairs I will be looking for an essay that is 4 pages long and one that has two opposing views about the film. You will be writing a blended essay that works together to gives both a positive argument and a negative one (for and against). Be sure you both upload a copy to the drops box with both your names on it so I don’t get confused about who is doing what.
Keep in mind that writing a review is just another kind of argument. You are trying to get your audience to trust in and believe in your opinion about this film.

Read Chapter 4: Documentation: Objects and Events 1839-1890 (page 155-207) and respond to the questions below in full sentences.

Biblical Worldview on Nehemiah Assignment You will write 5 leadership journal
entries discussing the various prompts below. While reflecting on the writing
prompt, focus on the following main areas. First, write your thoughts clearly
as they relate to the topic. Second, write your reflections on the topic. Use

This is where you will submit the revised version of your research paper.
Task: Write a research paper using evidence to support a thesis that addresses your research question by examining a current issue or event in the news from the perspective of your field of study. The audience is people who are generally educated but do not have extensive knowledge of your field.
Length: At least 2000 words
Sources: Minimum of 6. At least 3 of these must be from scholarly journals, and all sources should be selected based on reliability, currency, and level of information/analysis. Topic
This paper is the culmination of your research project, in which you are examining a current issue or event in the news from the perspective of your field of study. Before drafting your paper, you will have chosen a topic, developed a research question, and identified several potential sources in an annotated bibliography. You should write on the same topic for this paper unless your professor has asked you to make changes to your topic.
Organizing and supporting your paper
As you write your paper, be sure to include the following:
an engaging introductory paragraph that includes an effective and clear thesis statement
any definition of terms or background information that your reader is likely to need to understand your paper
unified, supported, and coherent body paragraphs that defend the thesis
an effective conclusion
Research is a key element of this paper. Take care to support your claims with research throughout the paper. Include APA in-text citations whenever you use sources, whether through quote, paraphrase, or summary. An APA reference list at the end of the paper should list all of the sources cited in the text of the paper.
Point of view
This paper will be written in an academic style. Use a third-person point of view. Do not use “I” or “you.”
Formatting your assignment

Working Conditions on TV Jobs
Exercise one: Examine the modern workplace as depicted on a current TV drama or sitcom. You’ll want to take notes as you view one episode of the program, and you may need multiple viewings to collect your data. Look at the way characters perform their jobs on the show. Often workers are shown socializing or engaging in other kinds of personal activities while on the job. How much real work gets done? And when characters are actually working, what aspects of that work are featured during the program? Often we see only the most unusual or glamorous aspects of work, while the day-to-day routine or behind-the-scenes aspects rarely appear. But when a guest is found dead in the house’s basement, Paige finds herself in the middle of a murder mystery. As she tries to piece together what happened, she discovers that the house’s dark history may be coming back to haunt her. With a killer on the loose, Paige has to find out who killed the guest before she becomes the next victim. Paige is also supposed to find the killer of the guest before she becomes the main suspect.
