Write at least one journal entry reflecting on real issues of community leadership (or lack thereof) in your personal and work life. This should be a place where you can, in a disciplined manner, have a running conversation with yourself about what kind of a leader in process you are, and want to become, and how you can get to where you would like to be as a leader (or, not be a leader, but be a better follower).

WRITING PROMPT: Choose a myth from either of your two texts. In this analysis, analyze how this myth functions—how it encourages you to see the world, either positively or negatively. DO NOT USE A MYTH DISCUSSED IN CLASS
Choose a myth from either of your two texts
1.) Myth and Knowing: An Introduction to World
Mythology (New York: McGraw-Hill, 2004).
2.) The World of Myth (New York: Oxford UP, 2014)-available online free PDF
Include three secondary sources
Include a contemporary connection— literature, film, media of any sort,
In this analysis, analyze how this myth functions—how it encourages you to see the world, either positively or negatively.
Other considerations:
Plot summary should not go beyond the introduction. The focus should be on your own analysis—not what happens. An essay that does plot summary will receive no higher than 50%. If you notice you are using chronological markers (first and other references to numbers, then, next, later, after), you are doing plot summary.
Proper Citation is required. Any quoted material and any referenced idea must be cited after its use. Use parenthetical (in-text documentation in MLA form, 8th edition). Failure to document constitutes plagiarism. An essay not properly documented will receive a zero. An example of parenthetical documentation is provided at the end of this document. If you do not have the MLA handbook for Writers of Research Papers, see Southeast A-Z /Writing Lab (Center for Writing Excellence) /MLA Style: http://www.semo.edu/writing/mla_style.html (Links to an external site.)
or use Purdue Owl: https://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/747/01/ (Links to an external site.)
Credibility of sources: Why should we believe the source you quoted? In part, an essay is only as good as the sources cited. This means no Wikipedia as or its variations as a cited source.
Provide a list of Works Cited (MLA form 8th edition) of all works referenced.
In addition to the fulfilling the criteria listed above, you will also be evaluated on the following:
A clear introduction: The introduction provides necessary background for what is to come. Keep in mind this is what your reader sees first. Attempt to make a good impression.
A clear thesis that provides a map for the rest of the essay: The thesis should be the last sentence in the first paragraph.
Ingenuity in analyzing your chosen myth. This is really key. Be creative.
Directive focus for each paragraph that proves the idea established in the thesis. Make sure you do not drift off topic.
Ample textual evidence and quoted material. This means you need to quote portions of the text to support your reading.
Insightful interpretative statements that comment on the textual evidence: A good interpretative analysis balances ample textual evidence with interpretative comment.
Integration of primary and secondary sources: Sources are well integrated into the essay and properly cited.
Organization: Avoid block quotations—they take up space. Also, avoid short paragraphing—this creates choppiness: For example, three sentences are not enough to demonstrate an idea.
Logic of argument: The interpretation makes sense and reflects what the text says and does. Your interpretation should not be your fantasy of what you would like the text to be.
Mechanics: The essay uses proper grammar and punctuation. Note that short stories and poems require quotation marks, and longer works, such as novels, plays, and films, require italics.
Clarity: Avoid wordiness.
What issues will influence your ability to help/counsel in an effective and ethical manner?
This personal reflection and position paper consists of four parts and should be a total 12-14 pages in length and have at least 6-8 sources in the bibliography. Properly cited WWW references are acceptable and encouraged. Citations should also be properly referenced throughout the paper. As you write your paper, draw from your experiences. The purpose of the term paper is to help you integrate the central ethical concepts of the course with both your personal and professional experiences.
Part I
The ethical decision making process: Describe your ethical decision making process? How would you address ethical issues that you are likely to encounter as a helping professional? What issues will influence your ability to help/counsel in an effective and ethical manner? Chapters 1 and 2 of the textbook and the professional codes are primary sources for this section.
Part II
An analysis of your personal values: What are your core values? How will these values help/hinder you as a helping professional? Because of your core values, what clients would you have difficulty helping? How will your values affect your working with clients from other cultures? Chapter 3 of the textbook is primary source.
Part III
Boundary issues in the helping professions: Chapter 7 of the textbook and the professional codes are a primary source for this section. Address multiple relationships and multiple responsibilities. When dealing with clients, what are some of the boundary issues that you might struggle with? How might you resolve these issues? What are some of the boundary concerns in such areas as training, education, supervision, and multicultural issues?
Part IV
Give your reactions to the professional codes, portions of which have been presented in the textbook chapters and in the online lectures. What are some of the strengths and limitations of such codes? Are there any areas in which you strongly agree/disagree with the professional codes (too strict, too lenient, just right)? Is there a professional code that you prefer over the others? For example, the NOHS (2015) professional code is specifically for helpers in human services; strengths/limitations?

Write a detailed case analysis of Office Depot’s sustainability strategy.
Write a detailed case analysis of Office Depot’s sustainability strategy.
Write a detailed case analysis of a firm of your own choosing( Office depot Corporation) . Make sure to select a firm that we did not cover as a case study during the course, and one that you did not analyze as part of your group project submission.
Identify what the firm is doing to strategically address responsible business issues and how these efforts do (or do not) fit with the firm’s overall strategy, business model and organizational structure. Evaluate whether these efforts are effective in moving society towards sustainability in addition to improving the competitiveness of the firm. I therefore expect you to critically evaluate whether the company is able to synergistically integrate ESG issues into the core of the business to generate both financial as well as social value. Explain how the firm can do so (or failing to do so) and moreover, please propose concrete actions (and justify them) that managers could take to better achieve both objectives.
In performing your analysis, I expect you to judiciously draw from the concepts, theoretical and practical frameworks, tools, key learnings and insights as well as resources, articles and data sources that we covered in this course. In the final session of the course, I will ask as many of you as possible to briefly present the company you have chosen and some of your preliminary findings. The assignment can be no longer than 4 single-spaced pages with margins of at least one inch and a font of at least eleven points. The page limit will be strictly enforced to be fair to everybody. You may include appendices which do not count towards the page limit. The grade will be given based on the core text, so please ensure that everything pertinent is in the first 4 pages. I will only look at the appendices if we need to verify a statement made in the core text.

Write a three-page double-spaced paper analyzing and comparing how the three different news outlets covered and presented the news. Use some of the conceptual tools from our class: Think about which stories were getting more, or less, attention? What kinds of frames did you see recurring across their stories, and were there any perspectives that were not represented? How might economics impact this flow of ideas?
How much of a balance was there between journalism and commentary?
*** The relevant lecture powerpoints are attached for your review. Please take a look at them because there are many concepts and ideas that may assist you in writing, such as media setting and framing…
Although I am asking for your observations, you should properly cite any story you quote or reference to support your observations. You should also include a separate works cited page listing all the sources for your paper. Cite everything!
Please start writing in the draft I have given you as it contains the right format. And the most important thing is that you have to write a three-page double-spaced paper, so this draft would gauge whether you have met the word expectation.
