Activate Creature Report (a.k.a. your take home final exam question)
Objective: Discuss and demonstrate your knowledge of how changes in the environment induce responses within an organism at various levels of biological organization (molecular, biochemical, physiological, morphological and behavioral) and time scales (accommodation, acclimatization and adaptation).
Using your knowledge how biotic and abiotic factors create specific challenges for the organisms and the various examples of biological responses these organisms employ to survive, live and/or thrive under such environmental conditions you will design an organism that is ideally suited for a specific environment/habitat.
Your animal should not be an already existing organism but instead a novel organism that is an ultimate specialists for its particular environment or a “super organism”. You are encouraged to be creative in your combination of adaptive responses but you must stay within the realms of physiological reality.

Step 2: Compose a detailed & creative creature report by completing the following:
Provide a detailed description of your habitat, providing your interpretation of the time scale of the various environmental challenges. You may create a name for your environment if you wish (e.g. boreal forest, tropical coral reef).
Identify the physical and chemical effects or pressures the environmental conditions of the habitat create for your organism.
Create a novel name for your organism (both common name and latin based species name).
Provide a detailed description of your super organism, providing a description of the mechanisms or biological responses the organism relies upon to overcome each environmental challenge. Keep in mind each habitat has several environmental challenges and from course discussions we know that the energetic investment of responding to the stressor is typically directly related to the duration and magnitude of the stressor (think time scales and levels of biological organization).
Directly link each biological response to the specific environmental condition & explain HOW the biological response or mechanism increases the organism’s fitness (ability of an organism to survive and produce future progeny).
It is not required, but you will receive extra credit (5 pts) for including a visual (drawing, digital image, etc) of your organism with your submission.

Your project is to draft a legal contract with terms that both the buyer and the seller agree to.
Your beloved German Shepherd dog, Generous Offer, has just given birth to a litter of pure‐bred puppies. You would like to sell the puppies for $2000 each. You know you need to have each buyer sign a contract so that there will be no misunderstandings in the future.
Mr. Snoop D. Dogg wants to buy one of your puppies. Mr. Dogg eventually intends to show this dog in the ring and wants your guarantee that the dog will do well and win prizes. He insists that he will not buy the puppy unless you can guarantee him that the puppy will win prizes.
Create a contract in which you sell one of the pure‐bred puppies to Mr. Snoop D. Dogg for $2000.
It is a brown, male dog, named “King of Contracts.” His litter registration number is 02‐500. His Sire is “Legal Star”; registration number 5544332. His Dame is “Generous Offer”; registration number 9977886.
You may use any sources you can find, including any sample contracts you might locate on the Internet. This is the one time that you do NOT have to worry about plagiarizing work…lawyers use samples from other lawyers all the time. BUT you do have to make the sure the contract is legal and enforceable and contains all the terms that both you and Mr. Dogg want.
The key to success with this contract is to remember that parties can agree to any terms they want (as long as they are legal) and the buyer of this dog wants a guarantee that the dog will win prizes.

Unconscionable Contracts
Instructions:
A court will usually look at two main factors when determining unconscionability:
Bargaining power, i.e., oppression
Unfair terms, i.e., surprise
Read the following fact pattern and answer the question.
Fast Eddie is the only car dealer in the west end of Anytown. The west end is in the slums and has a high crime rate. Eddie sells junkers with a high markup — typically twice what a similar car would cost in the north end where there are three car dealers.
Fast Eddie has just bought a brand-new electrified fence at a substantial cost and hired several security people with attack dogs to patrol his lot at night. Up until the new security measures, one out of three cars had been stolen off of his lot. “The security cost me a bundle,” Eddie says, “but I bet I’ll only lose one out of six of these junkers now.”
Only one bus drives through the west end and makes only two circuits. It picks people up at 10 am and drops them off in the north end at 11 am. It starts from the north end at 3 PM and drops them off in the west end at 4 PM. There are no other buses. There is no way to reasonably walk out of the west end. You either take the bus or have a car.
Laura is a welfare mom. She dropped out of high school to have her baby. Laura is about to lose her welfare money as part of the new welfare-to-work program. She has secured a job in the north end which pays her $1000 a month after taxes. She must report to work by 9 am each day and stay until 4 PM or she will lose the job. There are no taxis willing to go to the west end.
Laura goes to Fast Eddie to buy a car. He offers her any car on the lot for $2400, which is approximately twice the cost of the same vehicle if you bought it in the north end. She tries to negotiate with Eddie, but he brushes her off by saying, “It’s part of my ‘No Haggle Policy’. One price for everything — $2400. Take it or leave it. Here’s the contract.”
The terms are that Laura can pay off the $2400 over the course of a year in 12 equal installments, or $200 a month. If Laura defaults on any payment, then Eddie gets to repossess the car and keep all of the payments. Laura’s expenses are $750 a month, which Eddie is aware of. The interest rate on a good loan in this city would be 20%.
Laura reads the contract but doesn’t understand the part about keeping all of the payments and repossession. She’s desperate for a car, however, so she signs an agreement to these terms and buys the car. She starts work and everything goes well until the 11th month when her baby gets sick. Laura has to pay the doctor and misses a payment on the car. Eddie repossesses. Laura loses her job, gets evicted from her apartment and ends up in a homeless shelter where her baby gets even more sick because of the drafty conditions. Laura’s boss says that if she can get the car for transportation, then she gets her job back.
Question: Does Laura have a remedy under a theory of unconscionable contracts?

Your textbook discusses the First Amendment and freedom of speech. One of the more visible issues of free speech has been the banning of certain books in public schools. variety of significant issues. We are all influenced by the media and pop
culture we consume. For this paper, you have two options.
General Standards: MLA

Follow one particular story in the news media
throughout a specific time period, taking a close look at how the reporting may
have changed throughout that time. Argue for how the coverage of the story has
impacted the event itself. How is the identity of those included in the story

pictures? Through music? What is the outcome? Is someone’s identity changed? Is

series, a film, a song, video, etc. – and discuss its influence on the identity

of work about this particular individual or group? You will want to be specific
in your selection (i.e., you might want to select a few episodes of a TV series

This is the feedback I got from the first part of the project:
The sections on company and industry research are a good start, but your report needs to be more in depth . Elaborate more for the vertical and horizontal analysis sections. You also offer no explanation or reasoning for any of the key ratios you put in your report. May find a different way to present your pie chart. Right now it’s not effective with a lot of different companies and various shades of grey – not able to tell which belongs to which company.
Table of contents needs to be re-formatted.

The components of the final report should include (depending on your company and industry, not all components may apply)
1. An executive summary, which should conclude with an estimated value of the stock price of the company and an investment recommendation.
