Compare “To an Athlete Dying Young” and “Ulysses.”

The research paper represents a culmination of all that you have learned during the course of the semester. You must rely on your abilities to analyze literature and use outside sources, as well as the literature itself, to substantiate your theories and analyses.
For this assignment, choose one of the following topics and, using the Elements of Poetry, compare the two poems.

Compare “To an Athlete Dying Young” and “Ulysses.” These poems are very comparable because they both express the theme that fame is temporary. They are drastically different, however, in their statements regarding how one should deal with the temporariness of fame. “Athlete” says it is best to simply die, or retire, at the height of one’s fame, whereas “Ulysses” says it is better to try and fail than to never try at all.

KEEP IN MIND THAT THE RESEARCH PAPER IS WORTH 40% OF YOUR GRADE!

A research paper on literature is a paper where you use the literature and OUTSIDE sources (NOT THE LITERATURE), i.e. commentary, overviews, and analyses from reliable sources, to further explain and substantiate YOUR analysis.
Note: Quotes from the literature in an outside source do NOT count as using an outside source! You must use ANALYSES from outside sources!

Before beginning this assignment, copy and paste the following link into your browser to visit the Online Writing Lab at Purdue University:

http://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/658/01/

There you will learn what a research paper is, what it contains, and how it is written. MAKE SURE YOU UNDERSTAND WHAT A RESEARCH PAPER IS! Many research papers in this class receive grades of zero simply because the student does not understand what a research paper is.

After reviewing the information at the OWL, write a minimum 1250-word compare/contrast research paper, using one of the topics listed in the Research Paper module. FAILURE TO MEET THE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS (THIS INCLUDES WORD COUNT) WILL RESULT IN AN AUTOMATIC GRADE OF ZERO FOR THIS ASSIGNMENT. Remember, you are not limited to just comparing or contrasting; you can use both if your topic calls for it. Use current MLA parenthetical citations and a Works Cited page to credit the sources you used, and no, WIKIPEDIA IS NOT A RELIABLE SOURCE. The essay must be double-spaced and in Times New Roman, size 14 font.
Be sure to turn your essay in on time! As usual, you are not permitted any personal pronouns or contractions in this essay. This is where your adherence to the strict policies regarding omitting “you,” contractions, and writing in past tense will pay off. Also, pay close attention to how this essay is graded (see Research Paper module). This paper is graded VERY strictly, so pay close attention to EVERY aspect, MLA, AND content, of the paper. As usual, e-mailed essays will not be accepted for ANY reason. KEEP IN MIND THAT THE RESEARCH PAPER IS WORTH 40% OF YOUR GRADE.

Write a paper on Personal Leadership Philosophies.

Write a paper on Personal Leadership Philosophies.

Many of us can think of leaders we
have come to admire, be they historical figures, pillars of the industry
we work in, or leaders we know personally. The leadership of
individuals such as Abraham Lincoln and Margaret Thatcher has been
studied and discussed repeatedly. However, you may have interacted with
leaders you feel demonstrated equally competent leadership without ever
having a book written about their approaches.
What makes great leaders great? Every leader is
different, of course, but one area of commonality is the leadership
philosophy that great leaders develop and practice. A leadership
philosophy is basically an attitude held by leaders that acts as a
guiding principle for their behavior. While formal theories on
leadership continue to evolve over time, great leaders seem to adhere to
an overarching philosophy that steers their actions.
What is your leadership philosophy? In this Assignment, you will explore what guides your own leadership.
To Prepare:
Identify two to three scholarly resources, in addition to this
Module’s readings, that evaluate the impact of leadership behaviors in
creating healthy work environments.
Reflect on the leadership behaviors presented in the three resources that you selected for review.
Reflect on your results of the CliftonStrengths Assessment*, and consider how the results relate to your leadership traits.
*not required to submit CliftonStrengths Assessment
The Assignment (2-3 pages):
Personal Leadership Philosophies
Develop and submit a personal leadership
philosophy that reflects what you think are characteristics of a good
leader. Use the scholarly resources on leadership you selected to
support your philosophy statement. Your personal leadership philosophy
should include the following:
A description of your core values.
A personal mission and vision statement.
An analysis of your CliftonStrengths Assessment summarizing the results of your profile
A description of two key behaviors that you wish to strengthen.
A development plan that explains how you plan to improve upon the
two key behaviors you selected and an explanation of how you plan to
achieve your personal vision. Be specific and provide examples.
Be sure to incorporate your colleagues’ feedback on your CliftonStrengths Assessment from this Module’s Discussion 2.

Write a paper and summarize the key points you think the author is trying to communicate about healing and the mind.

Write a paper and summarize the key points you think the author is trying to communicate about healing and the mind. Also, please give your personal opinion about the essay. Do you agree or disagree with the author’s perspective? Is any of this relevant? If so, why or why not? Why does any of this matter? How do the healing methods discussed promote health and wellbeing of the mind? What did you find compelling about the findings in the readings? In what ways do these healing methods demonstrate the connection between the mind and spirit?

Write a paper discussing camp elements of Gorey’s work.

And now for your next trick. . .

Susan Sontag describes camp as “The whole point of Camp is to dethrone the serious. Camp is playful, anti-serious. More precisely, Camp involves a new, more complex relation to “the serious.” One can be serious about the frivolous, frivolous about the serious.” Write a 1000- to 1500-word (4 to 6 pages) paper discussing camp elements of Gorey’s work.

When is my paper due?
The final draft (i.e., double-spaced, 12-pt. Courier) is due via TurnItIn by 11:55 p.m. Newberry Time (EDT) on Tuesday, 12 April 22.

What does this paper mean to my grade?
This paper is worth 15% of your grade.

What will Dr. Moore be grading in this paper?
I will be asking the following questions:

Does the paper fulfill the assignment? (i.e., does it do the things I mentioned higher on the page?)

Do the letters/notes make their points clearly and understandably?

Does the work meet the conventions of college-level writing (e.g., spelling, punctuation, various grammar issues)?

A paper that does all these things will be satisfactory. A paper that does all these things and is interesting/pleasant to read will be better than that.

Will Dr. Moore be available to discuss my paper with me?
Of course I will. See me during my office hours or make an appt.

Some advice from your Uncle Warren:

The length suggestion is a guideline, not a straitjacket. Do not be afraid to write a little longer or shorter, if you do the job well.

I’m not expecting the definitive interpretations of these works. I’m wanting to see if you have something to say, and if you can support that argument.

Good luck, and good writing.

Do you think the mission statement you found is well constructed, or poorly constructed?

This is not an essay, these are disccusion board questions so
they have to be answered individually.

1. The article you read this week by Weiss and Piderit, about the value of mission statements in public agencies, suggests that they can be important to organizations and staff. But they do not go so far as to say
that they are essential to performance or success.
In your experiences with mission statements, what is your opinion of their worth? Have you found them to be useful, marginally important, or not worth your time? Why?
As always, please do not name organizations or specific people in your responses.

2. Surf the web and find an example of a real world mission statement for an organization, or program, of your choosing. Post the mission statement to this thread, and examine it using Hatry’s formula for
building mission statements (found in the Lecture Notes).
Do you think the mission statement you found is well constructed, or poorly constructed? Why? Can
Hatry’s formula improve it? If so, tell us how and why.

3. What are input, output and outcome measures all about? How do they connect to a mission
statement?
Cam you provide me an example of each type of measure using an example of your own choosing?
If you can’t come up with an example, think about this class? What are some input, output and outcome
measures for PAD 314 (Public Administration: Leadership, Supervision and Performance)?

4. On page 588 of his article entitled, “Why Measure Performance? Different Purposes Require Different Measures,” Robert Behn lists eight purposes that public managers have for measuring performance. Take a look at the list, and rank these eight from the most to least important purpose.
Post your list here, and explain your most and least important entries on the list. In other words, tell us
why one purpose is the most important of the eight, and why one is the least.

6. What did you find to be the main lessons from this week’s chapters, discussion board and lecture
notes?

Briefly discuss all assigned readings from that week.

Briefly discuss all assigned readings from that week. A response paper is meant to be your response to the readings. An excellent response paper will focus on a theme/major point/observation from the reading replete with examples from everyday life to highlight your understanding of the material.

Please use at least one direct quote in your paper

Requirements:
at least 2 full pages
12pt. Times New Roman font
1″ margins
Double-spaced
At least one direct quote
Examples from everyday life that reflect important concepts/ideas

Important: Please do not use internet sources, blogs, other outside material in your paper. A response paper is meant to be YOUR response only. If you copy/paste material from the internet or paraphrase material from the internet, this is a form of academic dishonesty and will result in an automatic 0 for this assignment. A second offense will result in a 0 for the entire course. Please see “course procedures” and “forms of academic dishonesty” on the course syllabus for more information.

Write a Survey for Interpersonal Values.

Write a Survey for Interpersonal Values.I need to write an article to publish. I wrote the methods and results secction. It is missing: abstract, introduction, discussion of results and conclusion. The article is regarding patients that participated previously in phase II and III clinical trials and it was applied the Survey for Interpersonal Value (SIV) scale to asses:
– if patients results have a different distribution comparing to the normative population;
– if patients results have a different distribution comparing the patients from different diseases.

The SIV scale are grouped into six personal values subscales: support, accounting the need to be treated with kindness and to receive encouragement from other people; conformity, relating to doing what is acceptable and what is considered socially correct; recognition, considering the need to be highly regarded and admired, to be considered important and recognized by others; independence, in which individuals are free to make their own decisions; benevolence, for the capacity of being understanding and generous with less unfortunate people; and leadership, assessing the value of coordinating the work of others, of being selected for a leadership position, and of being in a position to tell others what to do.

It was done a previous study in healthy subjects and it was concluded that Interpersonal values of participants in phase I studies differed from the general population.
