1) What is your reaction to the data presented in this chapter about the relationship between immigration and crime? Are these data surprising? Not surprising? Do you think these data are reflected in most people’s views of immigration issues? Why or why not?
2) How do you feel about the involvement of local and state law enforcement in the enforcement of federal immigration law? Do the potential benefits outweigh the costs or the costs outweigh the benefits? Why?
There are several resources in the “Optional Content: Links and Further Readings” section of the module that may help inform your argument for prompt 2. People sometimes say that you can’t teach someone to be a critical thinker. What do you think about that?

Lesson 1 – Can you be taught to think critically?
Lesson 1
This week we are exploring whether or not one can be taught how to think critically and how impediments might impact our ability to.

Watch the following video.

Answer the following question.
People sometimes say that you can’t teach someone to be a critical thinker. What do you think about that? Why or why not? Be sure support provide examples and support your thinking with sufficient resources. And, don’t forget to cite!

Submit your finalized project containing the four scenes from Alchemy as a single movie file that is playable in your post.

Submit your finalized project containing the four scenes from Alchemy as a single movie file that is playable in your post. Be sure the order of the scenes follows the CUE #’s, (m38/m39, m62, m79, m85s) and matches your cue sheet.

For help combining clips together using Apple’s QuickTime Player, follow the instructions here.

Be sure that you have not reduced the file size to the point where the audio has become mono—preserve the stereo audio. Remember, the
video can only have one stereo pair in the file, otherwise we may not hear your added audio!

Upload a screenshot of one completed cue sheet listing all licensed songs in the order of appearance. Be sure to include music cue numbers
for the Alchemy scenes from the spotting notes video.

If a scene contains a shift from visual to background usage, be sure to enter two complete separate entries of the song into the cue sheet with the proper use and duration for each entry. Use only VV, VI, BV or BI in usage column.
Download the Excel Cue Sheet Template (XLSX)
That will help get you started. Fill in all highlighted fields, and add in your songs and all other required details.

Some music libraries and song catalogs do not display detailed shares for writers and publishers. For this academic exercise, you can simply divide evenly amongst rights owners so the composers total 100%, and the publishers shares equal 100%. Standard division for 3-way splits is 33.33, 33.33, 33.34 which equals exactly 100% and doesn’t give too much extra to one party.

What text most shapes the Creature’s identity or sense of self, and how?

Research Question: What text most shapes the Creature’s identity or sense of self, and how?
In Volume II of Frankenstein the Creature finds three books that contribute to his education: Milton’s Paradise Lost, Plutarch’s Lives (also sometimes called Parallel Lives), and Goethe’s The Sorrows of Young Werther. Two other books that Shelley references are Volney’s Ruins of Empires (which unfortunately it is difficult to find quality information about), and also implicitly is one written by her mother, Wollstonecraft’s Vindication of the Rights of Woman.
Research one of the books listed above to learn more about it and to learn more about how it shapes the creature’s identity. You can read exerpts (or the whole thing, of course!) from the source you choose, they are all available for free on Gutenberg.org. Use quotations from Frankenstein to support your argument, as well as quotations and paraphrasing from your research sources (primary and secondary). Your paper should be 1000-1300 words long.
You will need 3 outside sources (besides Frankenstein) in your essay. For example, if you decide to read parts of the primary source, then you will need 2 more secondary sources. Once source must be an article from a library database. You will need to enter your library barcode number, located on the back of your BMCC ID card if you are accessing the databases from home.
Again, primary sources are available online at gutenberg.org)
For secondary sources, one source must come from a Library Databases. You can find a full list of English literature databases here: https://bmcc.libguides.com/english. I recommend Literary Reference Center (EBSCO), and JStor. Another one you can use is Literature Resource Center (Gale).
You may be prompted to enter your library barcode number, located on the back of your BMCC ID card.
While you are welcome to consult popular sources for background information, you should CITE only academic sources in the paper. That includes:
The primary sources
Articles found on databases through the library
Articles or websites from museums and libraries (e.g. The British Library, The Library of Congress, The British Museum, etc.)
Articles published on academic websites (.edu)
Other articles that explicitly indicate they have been peer reviewed by scholars (here is a good one, for example: https://romantic-circles.org/editions/frankenstein/V2notes/ruins)
