Milgram’s experiments were later replicated in Munich, Germany, where 85% of the subjects (the teachers) were found to be completely “obedient to authority.”
Milgram himself said of this experiment in an article “The Perils of Obedience”:
“The legal and philosophic aspects of obedience are of enormous import, but they say very little about how most people behave in concrete situations.
“I set up a simple experiment at Yale University to test how much pain an ordinary citizen would inflict on another person simply because he was ordered to by an experimental scientist.
“Stark authority was pitted against the subjects’ [participants’] strongest moral imperatives against hurting others, and, with the subjects’ [participants’] ears ringing with the screams of the victims, authority won more often than not.
“The extreme willingness of adults to go to almost any lengths on the command of an authority constitutes the chief finding of the study and the fact most urgently demanding explanation.”
Should Milgram have subjected people to these experiments?
Keep in mind that Milgram had a goal: to learn the degree to which ordinary citizens are obedient to authority. Given that goal, was he morally justified in terms of Rule Utilitarianism in subjecting people to this experiment to achieve that goal? Explain.

What genre as outlined by Prince does your chosen film fall into, and how does it meet the genre requirements?

Watch Akira Kurosawa’s Rashomon(1950), Stanley Donen’s Singin’ in the Rain (1952), or Bong Joon-ho’s The Host (2006). Select two scenes/sequences. Assess how the filmmakers use genre and visual design. These questions should help:
1. What genre as outlined by Prince does your chosen film fall into, and how does it meet the genre requirements? It’s okay if your film meets more than one genre. Be creative!
2. Are there ways in which your film does NOT meet its genre?
Prove your points by citing your film AND Prince. Be sure to name the personnel (director, cinematographer, visual designer, etc.) when relevant.
Your reflection must be 1-2 pages long. Do not use terms like “I believe,” “personally,” “I think,” “I feel.” Do NOT use first person. Treat reflections as if they were short essays. Don’t evaluate these films (“Night of the Living Dead is a hilarious film”). Avoid a casual, chatty, gossipy tone.
Finally, your abstracts should mention in the first sentence what arguments you’ll make about your film.

Explain why a baby’s birth weight can be a good indicator for a baby’s health; however, the number is not always the perfect gauge since a tiny baby can be born completely healthy and an average sized newborn could have a host of health issues.

Explain why a baby’s birth weight can be a good indicator for a baby’s health; however, the number is not always the perfect gauge since a tiny baby can be born completely healthy and an average sized newborn could have a host of health issues. In general, important predictors for baby birth weight include gestational age (how much time the child spends in the womb) and genetics (a reflection of the parent’s physiology).
A sample of 42 babies was chosen at a local hospital and their birth weights (kg) were measured in addition to their gestational time (weeks), mother’s height (cm), and mother’s pre-pregnancy weight (kg). The purpose of this study was to see whether there is a relation between a baby’s birth weight and their gestational time, mother’s height, or mother’s pre-pregnancy weight.
1. What are the hypotheses? (3 marks)
2. Perform separate correlation analyses to compare the relation between baby birth weights and gestational time, mother’s height, and mother’s pre-pregnancy weight. Copy and paste your jamovi output. Include:

c. Figures. Create scatterplots illustrating your results (can be constructed using any software program including Excel). (3 marks)
3. Write a description of your results using words and figures in APA format explaining what you can conclude from this study and whether you feel the results are practically significant. (4 marks)
