In March 2022, a social media company is launching an online merchandising store similar to the Google Official Merchandise Store (www.shopgooglemechandisestore.com). They have learned that data from this store is available as a Google Analytics demo account. They would like you to use Universal Google Analytics to analyse the demo data so that they can learn more about the patterns and trends in online customer behaviour. They have asked you to prepare a business report based on the Google Demo Account data from March 2021 to June 2021. They would like to know the answers to the following questions.
Audience: Who is visiting the Google Official Merchandise website? Are there demographic insights that can be gained? Would you recommend focusing on a particular target market?

The differences I see right off in these two pictures is first off one is fruits and vegetables which are great source of nutrition and vitamins and minerals. The second picture I see lots of carbohydrates and junk food. There isn’t a bad food when used in moderation. However, to much carbohydrates are not good for you and can cause health issues. I see fresh food versus refined processed food. In the second picture I see great energy boosters that don’t last long at all and you have a blah feeling after the sugar rush goes away.

I am one who has struggled with weight my entire life. I would eat anything and everything without any care on how I knew I felt and looked. I didn’t consider myself obese but I knew I was overweight and carried it mainly in my stomach. I ate a lot of junk food, chips, candy, breads ( oh how i love bread). It wasn’t until 2017 when I was told by a dr that I was obese. I felt horrible. I cried. It wasn’t until then that I really sat and looked at myself. I weighed 140 lbs but I am only 5 ft tall. When I would hear obese I would think of someone who was a 100 lbs or more overweight. I didn’t take into account the BMI or height as a factor to obesity.

I think the biggest challenges our society faces right now when it comes to healthy eating is way to many fast food restaurants that don’t have many healthy options to choose from. Everyone is always in a rush on their lunch hour because like me I get an hour lunch but usually have errands to run considering I get off when stores or drs are already closed for the night. People are looking for quick and easy. Is it cheaper to buy the cheeseburger and fries at McDonald’s or the salad or subway sandwich? Which is quicker? There are many factors that play into the choices we make as to where or what to eat.

The picture that looks like my current diet is probably a little of both. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia and severe IBS back in 2017 and it wasn’t until then that I really sat and look at what I was putting into my body. It wasn’t necessarily bad things but it wasn’t necessarily healthy either. I had to cut out gluten and lactose and once I did that I started to look and feel better. I didn’t realize I was eating a lot of foods that was causing inflammation in my body which was causing me to feel so horrible and in severe pain. I started to loose some weight. I started watching my carbohydrates that I was taking in. I stopped drinking pop and sweet tea (which was always my drink of choice, can’t pass up a good sweet tea) and turned to drinking mostly water. I didn’t feel bloated and didn’t look like I was 8 months pregnant either.

I have been on a journey modifying my diet as best I can with the time I have to do it in. I don’t ever have time to meal prep because I do help raise my grandsons, one of which is medically complex special needs, and the weekends we are always so busy doing everything we need to do that we didn’t do during the week. Making a grocery list and doing Walmart grocery pick up has saved us a lot on compulsive buying and able to make healthier choices when getting those groceries. I don’t buy as much junk food but I do still buy a lot of easy to make food to help with the busy days and for the grandsons quick and easy. Let’s face it they don’t have patience. The one thing with the special needs baby is that he has oral aversion and takes very little by mouth so whatever we can get him to actually put in his mouth and eat is always a great hurdle jumped over and closer to our goal. So in that instance he gets whatever his little heart desires. As we get better with the oral aversion we can start making healthier choices for him as well.

I am super excited about this class to hopefully learn more to be able to not only help myself continue on this journey I am pursuing but also to help my grandson get the nutrition he needs to so desperatly to gain that weight.

I think the biggest challenges our society faces when it comes to eating healthy is social media imaging. Everyone nowadays wants to look like the people they see online and when its not instant they lose motivation. The one picture that is most like my current diet is the second picture/the junk food. I can modify my diet by not eating out everyday when i dont want to wait to eat, when i know there is food at the house. I also can stop drinking coke everyday and drink more water.

As you prepare for composing a comprehensive reflection of the entire course, you are already performing a mental synthesis of the various class elements, assignments, readings, and likely you already know what the most valuable part of this class was to you. Think back to that element, name it, and explain why it is the most significant for you, the one aspect of the class you benefited from the most.

Your Journal Article Review Paper is designed to provide you with an opportunity to apply and critically analyze the information that you have studied during the semester. You will be asked to describe and apply the Multipath Model of Mental Disorders to the professional journal articles you review. This model can be found throughout your textbook. Chapter 2 of the textbook covers this model in-depth.
Begin by identifying and selecting two (2) psychological topics (psychological topic A, B, C, D, or E) from the list below that interests you the most. You will use your textbook to learn about the psychological topics/disorders that you choose.

Next, you will need to search for two (2) journal articles on the psychological topics that you chose – one (1) article for each psychological topic. I do not want you to review websites, and if I see that you based your paper on a website, I will not accept your paper. There are two things to keep in mind when you search for and select your articles. First, be mindful of your psychological topics, be sure to search for and select journal articles that are related to your psychological topics. Second, journal articles often have many sections. You only need to read the Introduction/Background (the beginning) and Discussion/Conclusion (the end) sections. Once you read those sections, you will need to summarize what you read. I am not looking for direct quotes, but you will need to provide enough information to allow me to understand the issue that the articles are addressing.
Make sure that you double-space your paper with 12-point font, indent the first line of each paragraph, limit your paragraphs to about 7-9 sentences, and include a reference page. You may refer to the following link for examples on how to format a reference page: APA Style reference examples (Links to an external site.). Do not, under any circumstances, give me a cover page. Make a header with your name; make a footer with page numbers; and then be done with the “fancy” stuff! Please note that I will be grading your grammar, spelling and so forth, so make sure that your paper has been edited and proofed before submitting it. Write your paper in sections, and identify each section with a heading in bold, for example, Introduction. The title of your paper will be “JOURNAL ARTICLE REVIEW PAPER FOR ABNORMAL PSYCHOLOGY (PSY 1730).” Please use the following outline for your paper. I have included some general thoughts, hints, and suggestions for each section.
I. Introduction
Write this section last. Keep it to about 4-5 sentences. Briefly tell me what I should expect to read in your paper, for example, the title of the journal articles that you reviewed, what year they were published, your two psychological topics, what you found, and so forth. Basically, give me a one-sentence preview of each section of your paper.
This section will have only one (1) paragraph!
II. Multipath Model of Mental Disorders
Provide a summary of what this model is.
This section should be at least four (4) paragraphs long – one (1) paragraph for each of the model’s 4 dimensions.
III. Psychological Topic 1
This section will have two (2) sub-sections. In the first sub-section, I want you to summarize your journal article. Pretend that your reader does not have any background in psychology and it is your job to make him or her understand your journal article.
Try to keep this sub-section to about three (3) paragraphs (21-27 sentences). Much more than this, and I think that you may have written too much.
In the second sub-section, use the Multipath Model of Mental Disorders and tell me how it might be applied to (or help to explain) the psychological topic/disorder. It’s important to note, the Multipath Model of Mental Disorders is a comprehensive approach to understanding psychological occurrences. It can be used to gain a complete picture of what’s influencing a person’s mental health – which includes your topics as well.
Do not get carried away here. Just do a good job. If you write more than three (3) paragraphs (21-27 sentences), then you may have written too much. Now, if you give me three paragraphs of three sentences each, then we will have a problem!
IV. Psychological Topic 2
Using your second journal article, do the same thing in this section as you did in the previous section.
V. Conclusion
The conclusion is to be a short (4-5 sentences) summary of your paper.
There is to be no new information in this section. Basically, I want a one sentence summary of each of your previous sections.
Think of your conclusion as your introduction in reverse (i.e., past tense). For example, in your introduction, you will write, “I will…” and in your conclusion, you will write, “I did…”

A 12 Step Process for A Painless Research Paper
Using MLA documentation style, you will write a 2000-word paper using one of the following short stories found in Portable Literature, 9th edition.

The paper must be based on your own original thesis (prove the theme by means of analyzing the use of 1-3 literary elements) and must include references to four (4) secondary sources. THESE SOURCES MUST BE SCHOLARLY AND CREDIBLE! THE DATABASES ARE ALWAYS THE SAFEST BET.
It is suggested that you work through each of the following steps in order to complete a successful research paper.
Step 1: Prepare
List the major elements of short fiction which we have discussed: plot, character, foreshadowing, setting, point of view, symbolism, style and theme. Write a brief description of each element as it pertains to one or two of your favorite stories. During this process, you will probably hone in on one to three elements in one story that seems to stand out to you. Brainstorm, jot down ideas, and choose something interesting to you which has possibilities for a detailed analysis. (Review Critical Questions assignment)
Step 2: Select
Choose one story; reread it carefully two or three times.
Make notes as you read.
Look for a focus.
Step 3: Analyze
Write a sentence expressing your interpretation of the theme of the story. You cannot proceed until you have an understanding of what the author is trying to tell us about human nature.
Step 4: Focus
Write a tentative thesis statement. This should include the title of the story and the author’s name. It should also include the one element which you will focus on in your analysis and it should relate that element to the theme of the story.
Here is an example of a good thesis from an earlier short story:
In “The Lottery” Shirley Jackson uses simple objects—a box, some stones, some slips of paper—to symbolize the narrow-mindedness and brutality that result from superstitious thinking.
The element to be examined is the symbolism of objects. The theme is the danger of superstitious thinking. Remember, you can select up to three elements if you’re concerned about meeting word count for this essay.
Step 5: Research.
Begin the hunt for four required secondary sources. Secondary sources are written about the primary source (the short story).
The best sources are literary journals. No Wikepedia, Schmoo University or Sparknotes.
When you have found secondary sources, read and study them carefully and select at least four usable ones.
*remember, we are approaching this essay in the same way we’ve approached Essay 1 & 2- you simply have more room to “play” with the interpretation.
Step 6: Make source citations
Prepare a citation for each of the sources you plan to use. Consult the textbook or website for proper MLA form. Write each citation as it will appear on your Works Cited page. You should have a total of five (5) sources, four (4) secondary sources and one primary source. Arrange them in alphabetical order for your Works Cited page.
Step 7: Read
Read through your secondary sources and mark important passages. Consider jotting notes in the margins and using symbols to draw your attention to certain ideas. Highlight only the portions of each source which you are interested in quoting or paraphrasing in your paper.
Step 8: Plan and organize
If your tentative thesis still applies, write a rough sentence outline combining your own thoughts with those from the outside sources. If needed, revise the original thesis statement before writing. Review the Outline example in the Resources Module.
Step 9: Works Cited
Prepare your Works Cited page. The title Works Cited should be centered on the top line. List the sources in alphabetical order. Remember to use a hanging indent. Consult MLA link for detailed instructions.
Step 10: Start writing
Begin writing the first draft of the paper.
Try writing the introduction first. It should begin with an interesting lead-in and move smoothly to your thesis statement. It may end with an essay map or forecasting statement briefly naming the main points to be covered in the body of your paper. Each paragraph should have a topic sentence (follow your tentative plan), and each paragraph should follow through on the idea in the topic sentence. When you include any borrowed information, use the MLA in-text citation system. The conclusion should be strong and should refer to both the lead in and the thesis in the introduction.
When you have finished the rough drafting phase of the paper, remember to let it rest for a while, at least 24 hours. Review the concept of plagiarism before you begin any revision. See Avoiding Plagiarism on page 81.
Step 11: Revise
Check for coherence (smooth flow of ideas in an understandable sequence).
Check for unity (single focus of all material within each paragraph). Cut any unnecessary or irrelevant information.
Make sure each quote blends in to the flow of ideas.
Eliminate all material that does not support the thesis statement.
Use the Using Materials page above as a checklist for MLA form.
