Probability and Statistics Project – Due Tuesday, 3/15 at 11:59pm.
Directions In this project, you are going to graphically present and calculate statistics of a set of data that you gather. In addition, you will use the data to answer various probability/counting questions. The information in the file will instruct you on how to gather your data and what you will then do with the data.
The Data You will gather the ages (in years) of all of your immediate family members (parents, siblings) and extended family members (grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins). You should gather no more than 20 ages (in the case that you have a large family).
Graphically Presenting the Data You will be presenting the data in a number of ways. Use a separate page for each. 1. A table, with all the data present, that shows the individuals, their relationship to you, and age. 2. A stem-and-leaf plot that shows all the ages in your set of data. 3. A stem-and-leaf plot that shows all the ages of males and females “back-to-back”. 4. A bar graph that shows the number of individuals in the age categories below. Babies (0-1); Children (2 – 12); Teens (13-19); Young Adults (20 – 29); Adults (30 – 69); Seniors (70+)
Statistics Calculate and present the following statistics for your data. You may use StatCrunch, but you need to do screen captures of the results and paste them in your project paper. Please number them and present them in a neat and organized manner. Use a separate sheet for each item.

Is the definition of a local ‘terroir’ important for a new winemaker in a new area in order for them to develop a wine
style or is its value only for defining distinction among wine styles made in a traditional area with a long history of

In other words, can you change or improve perceived terroir (money no object) or is terroir fixed for a particular site? Small Group Communication
Assignment: Your group task is to work collaboratively as a group on a local or social problem and
present to the class the solution that your group has decided upon. Although some class time will be
set aside for group meetings, your groups will probably need to meet outside of class to work on the
project. The breakdown of the assignment should look like this:
a. The group will do a collaborative research project on a local or social problem. You will
be doing research in order to present what you’ve learned to a group of people (this class),
a public avenue online) in order to raise consciousness and propose novel ways of
addressing the problem. To avoid duplication please consult with the instructor about your
choice before you get deep into it. Approval is required before you proceed with the
project.
b. The goal of the project will be to report on the problem and implementing the hypothetical
solutions that you’ve chosen. You as a group will report your findings in a pre-recorded
presentation.
c. Decide on the best and most logical alternative to solve the issue/problem. You will need a
concerted effort for thorough research of the facts and figures surrounding the issue.
Suggest ways to implement your solution. The implementation may be only hypothetical,
of course. Justify every decision you make. Be sure to divide the responsibility so that
every member of your group will be involved in both preparing and presenting the project
in your presentation.
d. Turn in a 10-12-page paper. The paper should include the history of the problem, its
issues, and your suggestion on how to improve. A work cited (APA) is due as well.
e. Present, with necessary details, of the “problem/ social issue”, the issue that need to be
addressed, solution, justifications, and implementation. Your time limit for presentations is
15-20 minutes and this will be strictly observed. Everyone must speak equally (give or
take)! Please rehearse and time your presentation. Think of the best method to drive your
point home. Visual aids for your presentation are required. You can use zoom for the
pre-recorded video, with visual aids included.
f. Please submit a typed full sentence 1-2 page outline before the day in questions.
