What are the confirmation paragraphs?

What is next? Write the SECOND confirmation paragraph for your researched argument paper. This is a graded checkpoint for my feedback to help correct any mistakes before they appear in your researched argument paper.
What are the confirmation paragraphs? These two paragraphs are the heart of your paper because they support your position on your controversial topic. They introduce, explain, and support your two specific points from your thesis statement.
Follow each step below–carefully, with college-level skill. Also, use the sample researched argument paper as a guide.
STEP 1: Using the perfectly formatted MLA document that contains your introduction paragraph with your thesis, and your FIRST confirmation paragraph, write and add the SECOND confirmation paragraph.
STEP 2: Identify the SECOND point in your thesis so that you can write a focused topic sentence.
EXAMPLE THESIS with the SECOND point in bold: Although some people believe that pipelines pose too many risks to the health and safety of the environment, pipelines are the most efficient and economical ways to move resource because they boost the U.S. economy and they reduce dependence on oil from the Middle East.
STEP 2: From your second point, write a topic sentence for your paragraph. Make sure to identify your second point in the topic sentence of your paragraph.
In order for America to thrive in times of conflict and peace, it is necessary for the U. S. to reduce its dependence on oil from the Middle East. (Now all of the sentences that follow will prove that the use of pipelines in America is necessary to prevent our dependence on the Middle East and explains why that is so important.)
STEP 3: After your topic sentence, write a 150-200 word paragraph that explains why the topic sentence is true–and provide supporting evidence with your research material. You can do this by summary, paraphrase, or quotes. Make sure you use in-text citations for your borrowed material. See your Harbrace textbook, Chapter 13.
STEP 4: Check your work with the questions below.
Did you refer back to the topic sentence at strategic points in the paragraph? Just repeating a key word or phrase once or twice in a paragraph can focus the reader’s attention and add force to the entire point. However, avoid any repetition that doesn’t serve a specific purpose.
Did you begin a body paragraph with a quote? Revise it–Your topic sentence is not a quote.
Did you use sound logic to fully explain and prove your point? No fallacies.
Finally, did you make sure to tie all of this information together by showing how it relates to your overall position statement? (Look at the position section of your thesis.)
STEP 5: Proofread and submit your work.

Analyze the author’s writing style and how closely it fits with your understanding of what readers would expect based on the publication it was originally in, the content and subject matter, etc.

Analyze the author’s writing style and how closely it fits with your understanding of what readers would expect based on the publication it was originally in, the content and subject matter, etc.
Select an article about your career field (from a peer reviewed journal in your field) or from any SCHOLARLY ESSAY in TRP or a chapter from Firlik’s book to analyze for an educated, adult audience. This assignment will involve going into detail about the effectiveness of the writing given its purpose, audience, and format. Analyze the author’s writing style and how closely it fits with your understanding of what readers would expect based on the publication it was originally in, the content and subject matter, etc. Follow MLA format for paper formatting and for citation of sources. IF THE ARTICLE IS AN OUTSIDE ARTICLE, INCLUDE A LINK TO IT.. IF IT IS FROM TRP, CLEARLY INDICATE WHICH ARTICLE YOU ARE ANALYZING. IF IT IS FROM FIRLIK, CLEARLY INDICATE WHICH CHAPTER YOU ARE ANALYZING.
YOUR PAPER SHOULD ANSWER THESE QUESTIONS:
Which piece of writing have you chosen to analyze? Early in this section, give the author’s name, the title of the text, year of publication, and the general subject. What does the text have to offer about the subject? Provide a complete MLA (or other approved format) work cited entry for the text at the end of the paper.
What is the message the author is trying to get across to the reader? Where is the message found in the writing (give page references and quotations)? Some pieces of writing will have more than one major message; if so, what are they, and is the author trying to accomplish too much?
Who is the intended audience? How do you know? Again, give page references and quotations of text if they demonstrate the point you are making. Is the writer a member of the community she or he addresses?
What techniques did the author use to get the message across? Explain where and how exactly. Do you think the author accomplished her/his goal for her/his intended audience? Explain your answer completely. How is the author convincing or persuasive—or not? What assumptions does the writer make about the reader’s prior knowledge, biases, values?
What logical appeals does the writer use? Does the writer use sound reasoning and evidence? Are major objections overlooked? What emotional appeals does the writer use? Are these fair or are they manipulative? How does the writer establish credibility or develop a persona? Do you find the writer trustworthy?
Are the appeals the writer uses appropriate to the audience he or she is addressing? Do they serve the writer’s purposes? In other words, are they effective? This is a point your paper should return to continually. Assessments of the effectiveness of appeals and strategies should echo your thesis statement.

Remember that this Analysis is not a personal essay in which you get to express your opinion about the topic of the article. This is not a reactionary piece of writing, but an analysis of what the author does to convey his or her message to a particular audience using specific strategies. Look at the tactics, methods, and stylistic devices the author uses to present ideas. Then, evaluate the effectiveness of those choices. To do this, you need to establish some distance from the work (remain objective). The writer has made rhetorical decisions, and it is your job to tell us what they are and whether they were sound choices.

You may develop your analysis in many ways: you might describe the writing techniques in concrete details or images, explain them through clear reasoning, compare and/or contrast them, provide analogies for how they work, etc. Your paper will NOT be successful if you do not use abundance quotes from the text to demonstrate the points you are making.

Describe in detail the Sales Cycle in such an organization, including the different stages of the cycle and the type of information that would be processed in each stage of the cycle.

Read the following scenario, and write one or two paragraphs to answer each of the sub-questions below:

Consider a small, but growing, company that distributes kitchen supplies. The customers are primarily small retailers such as kitchen specialty stores, hardware stores, and other types of home retail stores. Managers currently keep track of all customers, orders, and inventory information using a spreadsheet.

(5) Describe in detail the Sales Cycle in such an organization, including the different stages of the cycle and the type of information that would be processed in each stage of the cycle.

(5) How would a TPS help the managers of this company keep track of orders and inventory? What would the advantage be in automating this process?

(5) Identify and discuss two (2) Managerial level decisions, and two (2) strategic decisions that can be made within this company. Explain your reasoning.

(5) If a TPS was set up to automate the order entry and inventory system, design (draw) one example of reports that could be produced at the Managerial Level, and one example of a report that could be produced at the Strategic Level. Explain/describe the reports.
