social structure and social process theories

Arguably, social structure and social process theories may have a lot to say about preventing crime in the first place through economic and social interventions in communities, but do they have much to say about policing once crime is rampant in a community?
Describe what insights those theories might suggest for how to structure policing, punishment, and rehabilitation that go beyond a rational choice focus of deterrence.

Specifically use the Criminology Today text by Frank Schmalleger and a couple of other reliable sources.
Conduct a strong critical analysis of the topic and incorporate evidence from the text that is relevant to the argument. Employ a consistent thesis throughout the essay.

Existential analysis Objective In this unit, we will examine authors whose texts may be interpreted using an existential reading.

For assignment, you may choose a short story, lyrics, poetry, a movie, an animated series, an anime series, or a television series for your analysis. You may not choose a text that we have already discussed in class, though.
Existential analysis
Objective
In this unit, we will examine authors whose texts may be interpreted using an existential reading.
Assignment
You will then choose a text of your own and present an existential analysis of it. You will use three of the four following points to substantiate your thesis: choice, absurdity, alienation, or rebel. Your text will be your primary source. You should, however, bring in outside associations from current events, news, politics, social norms, essayists and other aspects of popular culture in order to strengthen your analysis.
Things to think about
Be sure to show how the theme of your chosen text remains relevant in universal terms. In short, how can we relate to it in 2022?

Write a story about your life, how your family, your community, and your own life experiences have shaped you to become the person you are today, with the purpose of eventually connecting it to the issues, events, and ideas in American history.

Write a story about your life, how your family, your community, and your own life experiences have shaped you to become the person you are today, with the purpose of eventually connecting it to the issues, events, and ideas in American history.
Write a five-paragraph essay (introduction, three main paragraphs, conclusion), 750-1000 words. You decide what each main paragraph is about. They can be chronological, they can focus on different aspects of your life, etc. Consider the following as you construct your essay:
Family can be just your parents and sisters and brothers or it can include extended family like grandparents, aunts/uncles, cousins, etc., but it can also include other people who have had such a significant role in your life that they have become your family (or you have become their family).
Your community can be the neighborhood where you grew up, the places you have lived, gone to school, worked, etc., and your friends and other people you have various relationships with in those places. But community can also be any group of people that you share something in common with who are important to you or that had an impact on your life. Types of communities could include racial/ethnic/language, gender/sexual orientation, religious, political, medical/disability, sports/recreation, art/music, other lifestyle/interests/hobbies, etc.
Your individual experiences can include anything from ordinary, everyday experiences that shaped your life over a long period of time to major life-changing one-time events that reshaped your life all at once. These can be good experiences, bad experiences, and all kinds of experiences in between. Usually, your family, your communities, and your individual experiences are all intertwined and overlapping, but sometimes they can impact your life separately.
Questions to Consider
How important is family in your life? How much do you know about your parents, grandparents, or other ancestors experiences before you were born? What roles did your immediate family and extended family play in your childhood, in your adolescence, and as an adult?
How important are the communities you belong to in your life? Which communities have shaped your identity in the most important ways? Which communities or parts of your identity have changed over time?
Which individual experiences have had the biggest impact on you? Have your day-to-day experiences been more important? Or have larger, more significant specific experiences been more important? Are your most important experiences connected to your family or communities? Or have they been separate experiences?

Clinical Field Experience B: Teacher Placement Process

Having a working knowledge of content-specifics and an ability to select talent gives the principal and the placement team a proactive approach to identifying, interviewing, hiring, and placing teachers based on the needs of the school as it relates to teaching and learning and meeting the needs of students.
Allocate at least 2 hours in the field to support the field experience.
Using district resources, review the teacher placement process in your school’s district. Focus on the legal aspects of hiring, shifting, and transferring certified staff based on quality teaching requirements and district procedures. Evaluate how the placement process aligns with the school’s mission and vision on teaching and learning. Collaboratively discuss your review of these resources with a human resources representative from the district. Then, discuss with your principal mentor the school administrator’s responsibilities related to hiring and placing teachers.
Use any remaining field experience hours to assist the principal mentor and, provided permission, seek opportunities to observe and/or assist the principal mentor.
Write a summary that addresses the following:
The setting of the school and district you reviewed (i.e., public, private, charter, and size).
District policy and/or collective bargaining procedures, seniority requirements, union or professional association mandates.
Teacher screening procedures and rationale for established procedures.
Your evaluation of the alignment between the district’s placement processes and the school’s mission and vision.
How the process you evaluated is fair and equitable and/or how the process could be improved in these areas.
Why familiarizing oneself with these policies and procedures is vital for administrators in making purposeful and legal decisions in the best interest of the school environment.
How you will apply what you have learned to your future professional practice.
APA format is not required, but solid academic writing is expected.
