case study analysis and strategy proposal social responsibility

T‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌he final project for this course is the creation of a case study analysis and strategy proposal. Social responsibility is an ethical philosophy that suggests an individual or a group of individuals, such as an organization, has an obligation to act for the benefit of society at large. Corporations in any industry have experienced change in corporate social responsibility (CSR) due to both internal (employee) and external (customer, regulatory agencies, environmental) influences. These influences require leaders to better educate themselves and the organization on their strategy in regard to CSR. The purpose of this project is to analyze and critique an organization based on what is expected of a corporate strategy in regard to social responsibility. The project is divided into two milestones, which will be submitted at various points throughout the course to scaffold learning and ensure quality final submissions. In this assignment, you will demonstrate your mastery of the following course outcomes: ? Critique social responsibility principles and concepts as they relate to scholarly research, evidence, and real-world relevance ? Analyze internal and external influences to organizational operations as they relate to the effective application of social responsibility ? Analyze the potential benefits and risks of the strategy planning of an organization for ensuring organizational effectiveness ? Develop strategy plans that appropriately draw from modern principles of social responsibility and are substantiated by evidence ? Assess the ethical implications of real-world issues and problems in corporate social responsibility from multiple perspectives Prompt For this project, you will analyze the case study, ITC LTD: Toward a Triple Bottom Line Performance. You will look at various aspects of both the daily operations of the company as well as management strategies to determine the impact they have on the social responsibility of the company. You will examine the impact this has on the internal and external stakeholders of the company, as social responsibility impacts them the most. Then, you will devise a revised strategy plan that addresses any gaps and risks you have identified in regard to social responsibility. Specifically, the following critical elements must be addressed: I. Introduction: In this part of the project, you will introduce the company present in the case study, describing the important attributes of the company that should be considered when analyzing its consideration of social responsibility. Describe the organization in the case study. In other words, how is the organization described in the case study? What are its key attributes? What are its strengths and weaknesses? II. Analysis of Social Responsibility: In this part of the project, you will begin your analysis of the case study, examining how the strategy plan of the organization in the case study considers social responsibility. a) Analyze the organization’s strategy plan for compliance with the current acceptable standards or norms relative to social responsibility today. b) Analyze the organization’s strategy plan for any gaps in social responsibility that might be potential risks to internal and external stakeholders. c) Predict the potential positive and negative impacts to internal and external stakeholders regarding social responsibility that would result from the strategy plan. In other words, what might happen to the employees and/or people involved in the company regarding social responsibility from this strategy plan? You could consider both the present and future impacts. d) Critique the evolution of strategy planning related to social responsibility within the organization. In other words, what may have influenced the evolution of strategy planning related to social responsibility unique to this organization? e) Explain how this organization is or is not consistent with regard to social responsibility when compared within its own industry and when compared to outside industries. Be sure to justify your response. III. Ethical Decision-Making: In this part of the project, you will continue your analysis of the case study, examining how the strategy plan of the organization considers ethics in decision-making processes. a) Analyze the organization’s strategy plan for decision-making processes that it employs. In other words, based on the strategy plan, how does the organization make decisions? b) Explain how aspects of ethics were considered in the decision-making processes of the organization. In other words, what were the ethical considerations related to social responsibility in the decisions made by the organization? You could consider the connection between ethics and organizational decision making and how ethics influence those decisions. c) Analyze the organization’s strategy plan for any gaps in the decision-making process that could be considered potential risks to internal and external stakeholders. IV. Cri‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌tique the Organization: In this part of the project, you will continue your case study analysis, critiquing the organization regarding how it considers social responsibility and how its processes have been influenced internally and externally. a) Utilizing the information in the case study and your previous analysis, determine the appropriate components for a strategic CSR plan for the organization. b) Compare the components chosen pertaining to the organization with other organizations with similar or different strategic components. c) Explain how the organization’s internal and external influences have impacted the strategy plan’s compliance with industry standards and common practice in regards to social responsibility. d) Determine potential risks in the current strategy plan and compare them with other relevant organizations (in particular, the same industry) to determine if these risks are common or unique to the organization. V. Revised Strategy Plan: In this part of the project, you will imagine you have assumed a leadership role within the organization. You will utilize the case study and your previous analysis to develop a new strategy plan for the organization addressing its social responsibility. a) Develop a revised strategy plan for the organization, addressing any potential risks or gaps regarding social responsibility previously identified in your case study analysis. b) Explain the process regarding how the revised strategy plan was developed. Be sure to describe why certain components were selected and how they are important to the organization as related to social responsibility. c) Discuss how you considered the influence of internal and external forces when developing your revised strategy plan. In other words, how did you account for the internal and external influences that affected the first strategy plan in the development of your revised strategy plan? d) Explain how issues of ethics were considered when developing the revised strategy plan. If issues of ethics did not need to be considered or revised, explain why. Milestone One: Introduction Milestones In Module Two, you will submit the introduction. The final project requires that you analyze ITC LTD, a diversified company that has heavily invested in tobacco and cigarettes in India. For Milestone One, you will introduce the company in the case study, describing the important attributes of the company that should be examined when analyzing its consideration of social responsibility. How is the organization described in the case study? What are its key attributes? What are its strengths and weaknesses? What do you see as its primary CSR issue? This milestone will be graded with the Milestone OneRubric. Milestone Two: Analysis of Social Responsibility and Ethical Decision-Making In Module Four, you will submit Sections II and III of the final project, which are the analysis of social responsibility and ethical decision-making. As part the analysis of social responsibility, address the following issues: define the primary stakeholders both internal and external, the organization’s compliance to social responsibility, and gaps in social responsibility that may be potential risks to internal and external stakeholders. What might happen to the employees and/or people involved in the company regarding social responsibility from this strategy plan? Consider both the present and future impacts. What may have influenced the evolution of strategy planning related to social responsibility unique to this organization? Explain how this organization is or is not consistent with regard to social responsibility when compared within its own industry and when compared to outside industries. Regarding ethical decision-making, examine how the organization’s strategy plan involves ethics in its decision-making process. How does the organization make decisions? What were the ethical considerations related to social responsibility in the decisions made by the organization? How do ethics influence these decisions? Are there any gaps in the decision-making process that could be considered potential risks to internal and external stakeholders? This milestone will be graded with the Milestone Two Rubric. Final Submission: Final Case Study Analysis and Strategy Proposal In Module Seven, you will submit the final case study analysis and strategy proposal. It should be a complete, polished artifact containing all of the critical elements of the final project. It should include the information from the two milestones plus Section IV, Critique of Organization, and Section V, Revised Strategy Plan, making sure to reflect the incorporation of feedback gained throughout the course. This submission will be graded with the Final Project Rubric. Final Project Rubric Guidelines for Submission: Your case study analysis and revised strategy plan should follow these requirements: 8–12 pages, double-spaced, 12-point Times New Roman font, one-inch margins, and APA sixth edition c‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌itations and style.

Adulthood Analysis

A‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌pply conceptual frameworks and developmental theories in describing human development and behavior for young, middle, and later adulthood. Explain how biological, psychological, and sociological developmental dimensions affect one another throughout the lifespan. You are to identify an adolescent or an adult (young or middle) who is known or was known to you, upon which you will base your assignment. Criteria 1 The individual should be well known to you. He or she can be a present or past client, but does not need to be. He/she can be a current acquaintance, a relative, or a friend from the past. It is critical that you know, or knew, details about this individual’s life. You will not be able to do the assignment if you do not/did not know this individual well. Criteria 2 This child or adolescent, or family with children and/or adolescents, should have, or have had, a clear interaction with a large system, such as the medical system, school system, penal system, foster care system, welfare system, social service system, psychiatric service system, or housing system. The assignment is most easily done if the nature of the relationship with the system is either notably problematic or notably helpful. Criteria 3 This individual should identify as a member of a group that has experience with prejudice and discrimination based on, for example, SES, health status, immigration status, race, ethnicity, psychiatric history, gender, sexual orientation, sexual identity, religious affiliation, or ability. To understand the impact of the system on the life course of the individual, we will need to know the following: A description of who this individual is based on biological, psychological, and social issues, and an identification of a theoretical framework appropriate for the individual’s age, gender, race, ethnicity, religion, family constellation, and/or other significant events in the individual’s life. What is the physical environment in which this individual resides? This will be more relevant to some than to others, but in a nutshell, all of your “subjects” reside somewhere—where is it, literally? Does it matter that they reside in Southern California or Northeastern .? Urban or rural? Share something substantive about the system and how it works and doesn’t work for the individual. Describe how the individual interacts with the system and his/her environment. How do the system and the environment influence the individual’s behavior? What is different before and aft‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌er the system became involved, OR, in what way has the system changed the individual? Organize the information you garnered for your review in terms of other cultural factors, environmental concerns, governmental policies, and environmental issues and their impact on the individual. Begin your conclusion with how this informs your understanding of the importance of a life course perspective. What is the implication for practice based on this evaluation? Please ensure the following: Introduction Provide short introduction related to the purpose of the paper. Application of theoretical framework Describe the individual based on biological, psychological, social, and theoretical framework appropriate for the age. Apply an appropriate framework for the case with an excellent description. Review of the system Review all the systems that the individual is interacting with and explain how systems influence the individual. Explain what works and doesn’t work for the individual. Interaction with the system and the environment Describe how the individual interacts with the system and his/her environment. Excellent linking of the life course to the case Self-reflection Outline implication for social work practice: What is the implication for practice based on your evaluation of the case? Use critical thinking skills in self-reflection on the usability of the theories applicable to cases and their advantages and disadvantages. Summary Provides summary of the case to include summation of thoughts and understanding of various skills. Rogers, A. T. (2019). Reducing our Carbon footprint

Calculate Your Carbon (CO2) Footprint, and in Four Hopefully Easy Steps:

1. Find an online calculator (two possibilities shown below) and calculate either your personal or your household Carbon (CO2) footprint and compare your footprint to the national average;
2. Provide a working estimate of how much, and by when, you can reduce that footprint on your own, either individually or as a household;
3. Provide a thoughtful set of policy and/or program suggestions which might help you get to near-zero emissions by 2040; and
4. Write a short 3-page summary (or so) describing your findings, with an estimated (or an inferred) set of costs and benefits.*** Information can be pulled from the Griffith book, and the EPIC-Rhodium Group noted in the February 10 lecture, among other references. Included at least 3 linked references; and again, one interview.
*** Note: We are looking for insights, not precision. Both quantitative and narrative descriiptions of costs and benefits are acceptable — as long as they are reasonably accurate and documented. Do not hesitate to talk with the instructor if you have questions.

Importance of the use of theory in clinical practice
The use of theory is a constant part of clinical practice, even when it’s not obvious. Most interventions are rooted in theory and used because they’ve been shown to be effective. Using theory encourages reflection so we can come to an understanding of what works (Hothersall, 2016). Base theories are used to help “describe and predict human behaviour and assess the need for intervention” to give us an idea of where to begin our work (Gordon & Mackay, 2016, p. 69).

How theory relates to mothers
Since theories are used so extensively in clinical practice it is likely that they would relate to almost any topic area. Since I want to work with mothers, theories can help inform effective interventions for issues like postpartum depression and anxiety. The theories can give an idea of what works best for specific issues. Some issues facing mothers are more macro, like the lack of adequate childcare and maternity leave, and systems theory and other theories that consider the effect of the environment on the individual could be useful. These theories can be used to take a broader look at the mother in her environment and see which level is causing the most struggle.

RE: Discussion 2 – Week 1

Describe the schism that developed between Jane Addams and Mary Richmond with respect to an understanding of the social work profession through policy advocacy and action.

Jane Addams believed that social condition was the cause of poverty and welfare concerns being an advocate for social action (Studypool Inc, 2022). Addams worked on changing policies by improving social conditions that have been affecting different populations. On the other hand, Mary Richmond believed the people were responsible for their situation and rehabilitation would help with their individual needs (2022). Jane worked more on the macro level and Mary worked more on the micro and mezzo level. They both worked to help people and the community but at different levels (2022).

Describe similar schisms that exist in contemporary social work.

A schism that exists in contemporary social work is the division of micro, mezzo, and macro levels. There are social workers that are not interested in working in a macro level and stick to the micro and mezzo level. Very few are known to work in the macro level which we do need social workers in the macro level in order to continue improving social conditions. Jansson (2018) states how other politicians (nonsocial workers) can make a decision that would affect the people even more unless there were social workers taking their place that have more knowledge about what the communities and the people need. It would be great if policies were changed by social workers to address social conditions, but I have never taken an interest in macro. There is a need of social workers in all levels in this time and they are mostly focusing on helping the client in a micro and mezzo level.

Explain how the contemporary schisms prevent social workers from fulfilling their ethical obligation(s).

NASW’s code of ethic shares how social workers are to help individuals concerns but also the social injustice at the same time (2022). Social works have just been providing therapy and other micro/mezzo services, but not wanting or taking an interest in trying to change policy to improve social conditions. On the other hand, NASW also shares how social workers should continue to grow within their area of competence (2022). Contemporary schism prevents social workers form fulling their ethical obligation maybe because a lot of the social’s workers are overloaded in their cases and there no room to think about working in a macro level. There are a lot social workers needed to help individuals and I think that is the most important area that social workers are trying to focus on to bring down the caseloads. There’s also a need for social workers in a macro level and maybe social workers do not have enough education about becoming an advocate or it is time consuming that some people want to stick with micro/mezzo levels.

RE: Discussion 2 – Week 1

Hello class,

Describe the schism that developed between Jane Addams and Mary Richmond with respect to an understanding of the social work profession through policy advocacy and action.
Since the early days of the profession, social workers have viewed their role and mission in a variety of ways. For instance, some social workers like Jane Addams view the role of a social worker as best actualized when advocating for social reforms such as housing regulations, stronger policies that protect workers, and programs that aid those in need (Jansson, 2018, p. 28). On the other hand, other social workers like Mary Richmond have viewed rehabilitating the individual as the most appropriate intervention (Montalvo, 1982, p. 104). While Addams’approach places a greater emphasis on systemic issues, Richmond’s approach may be perceived as emphasizing the idea that an individual’s challenges stem from their own choices and circumstances.

Describe similar schisms that exist in contemporary social work.
Similar to the schism between the perspectives held by Addams and Richmond, social workers are divided today when it comes to the place of macro-level practice in the profession (Hill, 2010, p. 514). While the profession’s history is rooted in progress made through macro-level practice, social workers may argue against the efficacy of macro-level practice, feeling that it fails to produce adequate change in the circumstances faced by their clients (Hill, 2010, p. 514). As a result, social workers are far more likely to be engaged in micro-level practice, providing interventions such as counseling and linking clients to available resources.

Explain how the contemporary schisms prevent social workers from fulfilling their ethical obligation(s).
While the reluctance of society to change for the improvement of life for all people may make macro-level practice difficult, this form of practice is challenged further when social workers are divided on the issue. By failing to produce a united front, social workers negatively impact their ability to advocate for the positive changes which would significantly aid their clients and those in similar circumstances. While micro-level practice addresses immediate needs of individuals, this form of practice may be viewed as producing a similar result as what one would expect when placing a bandage on a wound.

RE: Discussion – Week 1
COLLAPSE
Characteristics, Challenges, and Opportunities of Evidence-Based Design
Characteristics of Evidenced-Based Practice

Evidenced-based practice is an essential component of social work practice. Distinguishing characteristics of EBP is essential when working with vulnerable populations. EBP is necessary when providing clinical treatment to vulnerable populations (Whittaker, 2009, p. 167). For example, when working with high-risk children, providing EBP to the family assists with treatment and implementing these practices in the home setting. Often it is easier to explain modalities through EBP to provide the family with support and evidence of the modality used. In doing so, parents will understand and see the effects of the EBP. Through experience, parents respond best to EBP that supports interventions implemented in their child’s treatment services. The information is presented and explained, allowing the parent to see the positive effects and outcomes of the intervention implemented in all domains.

Supporting Factors

Implementing EBP can determine the difference between “efficiency” and “effectiveness” (Whittaker, 2009, p. 168). To implement EBP, first, the target population must be identified. For instance, I work with at-risk youth, so EBP for this population should be researched and evaluated. In determining the target population, specifics help narrow the search for appropriate and effective EBP. For a program to be successful evidence-based programs should be implemented for positive and effective outcomes. For example, the Intensive In-Home (IIH) program I am the case manager for implements Seeking Safety, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectal Behavioral Therapy (DBT). When these modalities are implemented in sessions and the home, children, and families can function and behaviors are managed. National Association of Social workers (n.d.) discusses the importance of randomized controlled trials are the most valuable interventions. The target population and the client’s specific needs determine the EBP intervention that would be most effective towards their healing process.

RE: Discussion – Week 1
COLLAPSE
Implementing EBP can determine the difference between “efficiency” and “effectiveness” (Whittaker, 2009, p. 168). The efficiency will determine the success of achieving the desired result. The effectiveness is the degree to which something is successful. To achieve both goals, one will have to select the appropriate EBP to engage with the client. Just as you have mentioned, the population that you serve is at-risk youth. I concur that the research is important when providing the appropriate EBP to achieve the goal for the client. Some examples of EBP are Acceptance and commitment therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy. The presented examples can lead to the engagement having structure. The structure will allow the client to achieve their goals. Our definitions of EBP are similar. Some may differ in using EBP. The reason is that EBP fails to consider cultural competence.

Migration paper (poc)

Summary:

Watch this video and answer the following question: should Dreamers be allowed to become US citizens?

We know the migration issue is multi-dimensional and difficult. For the US, Dreamers are a particularly complex demographic. After watching this video, what are your thoughts specifically about people who are brought to the US without any independent decision-making of their own (i.e., involuntary migrants)? Does this complication change how we think about their migration status? Why or why not? In your answer, be sure to refer to something specific in the video to support your answer.

Impact of socio-emotional intelligence of school leaders on school culture and student achievement

N‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌ame of Author: Fabienne Estigene School: St. Thomas University ***In APA (7 EDITION)** *Must be a Qualitative dissertation research paper *Contain Headings and Subheadings. Double Spaced Topic: Impact of socio-emotional intelligence of school leaders on school culture and student achievement DISSERTATION PROPOSAL: 20 Pages (See instructions below) Deadline: Nov. 30th, 2020 1. Module 1: Proposed Dissertation Title & Introduction to the Problem • Introduce the dissertation topic area. • Describe the social/educational/practical problem of interest and what we know about that problem from the existing research literature. You may also provide evidence of the problem in your proposed setting, such as national or local statistics, assessment data, previous surveys in your setting, etc. • Tell the reader why the problem is worthy of further investigation/why it is meaningful. Who does the problem impact, why is it important to gather further information about this problem? • Introduce the specific research problem (gap in the literature) that your study will address. Cite experts who agree that further study is needed on this specific research problem. 2. Module 2: Bibliography, Setting and Theoretical/Conceptual Framework • Setting: Describe the setting for your study–the place or setting in which you will collect your data. The setting for the study refers to the physical location of the research and the natural or artificial (simulated) properties of that setting. In some research these properties are called “experimental conditions” or “study environment.” • Theoretical/Conceptual Framework: The purpose of the theoretical or conceptual framework is to provide an overarching structure for the dissertation and to tie the different pieces of the dissertation together. As the researcher, you should approach the proposed research from a theory or set of theories that provide the backdrop for the work (researchers do not create theory; they use established theory in which to embed their work). This section should describe how this study will be framed based on existing theories and/or conceptual models. The following items should be addressed in this section: • What are the theory/theories or conceptual models that (with citations from the original authors) will provide the framework for your study? • Explain how the framework either supports the proposed study or provides a theoretical context for developing the research problem. • Be sure that the theoretical framework is appropriate for the topic. • Be sure that the theoretical foundation is strong and can provide a structure to tie together all components of the study. 3. Module 3: Statement of the Problem: This section clearly states the research problem to be addressed, the population affected, and how the study will contribute to addressing the problem/filling the gap in the literature. A well-written problem statement also clearly communicates the significance, magnitude, and importance of the problem. The problem statement will clarify, outline, limit, and bring into being a distinct image the problem to be investigated. The most effective problem statements are (a) expressed simply, (b) to the point, and (c) clear in stating the nature of the problem. 4. Module 4: Purpose Statement: This section provides an expansion of the problem statement into how the study will be accomplished. It also explains how the proposed study will contribute to the field. Included in this statement are the research design, population/setting, variables (quantitative) or phenomena (qualitative) to be studied, and geographic location. Further, the section clearly defines the dependent and independent va‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌riables and whether variables and groups will be examined in relation or comparison to one another (for quantitative studies). For qualitative studies, this section clarifies the nature of the phenomena to be explored. 5. Module 5: Research Questions: In this section you will narrow the focus of the study by stating your proposed research questions. The questions are derived from the research problem and the purpose of the study. Within the general purpose of the study, what are the specific questions the research will attempt to answer? Because the study is qualitative, state the research question(s) the study will answer, and be specific about the phenomena to be studied. Qualitative studies will typically have one overarching or central research question with three or more sub-questions. Develop a central research question that mirrors the purpose of the study but is phrased as a question rather than a statement. Follow the central research question with any additional or corollary research questions.
