The Controversial Topic paper is the culmination of the work and research that you have done on the controversial issue that you chose during the first week of class. You will be writing a six to eight page final paper which analyzes the issue using the theories that you identified in Discussion Forum 1 and further developed in Discussion Forum 2, instructor feedback, and peer interactions from the discussion board. The paper should fully explain the issue and controversy, fully articulate the conflicting arguments, identify which demographic groups benefit and which are harmed by the social issue, identify which demographic groups support and oppose the issue, compare how the issue is manifested in the United States compared to several other selected countries, your personal stance on the issue, and how you propose our society meaningfully works to solve this issue. Demonstrating your understanding of how theory and course materials connect to your issue through your analysis is important. Course concepts like statuses and roles, culture and subculture, deviance, inequality, gender, race, dramaturgy, socialization, etc. will be combined with our major theories of structural-functionalism, symbolic-interactionism, race-conflict theory, gender-conflict theory, and social-conflict theory to provide a rich sociological analysis of the controversial issue.

Team Leadership: Leadership and Decision Making
team leadership involves monitoring a team to help individuals achieve goals and to enhance performance. Please refer to the image below from Northouse (2022, pp. 464).
Jamal works for a technology firm in the KSA. He has been assigned as the team leader of a group of five engineers, from different countries, responsible for creating new phone technology. This organization favors the team leadership approach and has given Jamal the responsibility to monitor and act as needed, to ensure the team is effectively performing.
During the first week of work, Jamal evaluates the overall situation in relation to the team’s needs and he discovers that the team is not focusing on the goals, there is conflict between three of the engineers due to communication issues, and there is not enough sharing of information among several of the engineers due to professional competition and a fear of being left behind.
Thinking about the above situation, please answer the following:
Explain what the team leadership approach is and how it impacts the decision-making process.
Identify the current issues Jamal is encountering. Explain the best way to address these issues based on the team leadership approach.
Determine how a country’s culture and the culture of each team member impacts the team leadership approach.
If you were Jamal, what team model would you use to make the team more successful? Explain why you selected this team model.
