Assignment
4 asks you to prepare a detailed research proposal on the topic and research question developed in Assignment 3.
Although this assignment is asking you to develop a research proposal, it
is important to note that you are not to
conduct the actual research.
The

Your
written research proposal must adhere to correct APA citation style and must
include the following elements in this order:
1. Title: The title should
reflect the general topic area covered in your proposal and should be derived
from the topic approved from Assignment 3.
2. Introduction: The
introduction section, or literature review portion, of your research proposal
will form the largest segment of this assignment. You should use the articles
summarized in the previous assignment as the basis for your literature review.
In addition to the four (4) articles you summarized for Assignment 3,
you will need to find and refer to at least four (4) more articles to
inform your literature review. Think of
this literature review as a short (4–5 page) essay whose main purpose is
to contextualize the research question you have framed. As you write this segment, you should consider using your introduction
as a space that will answer, for the reader, questions such as: “What have other researchers said about the
topic?” “What main findings do other researchers present to support their

your study proposes the use of a survey or interview instrument, provide a

This basically answers the what, when, where questions. Then you need to identify Ward-Perkins’s main arguments. You should not limit yourself to a single-sentence thesis like this: “Ward-Perkins says that a lot of economic, cultural, and political stuff happened because of the fall of Rome” Instead, you should devote a few sentences to the thesis and identify the specific issues that you’re going to analyze.
Body—3-4 pages: In this section, you are going to explain how Ward-Perkins demonstrates his thesis. Identify some of his sources and explain several specific examples he uses.
