Instructions: you will focus on submitting the technical brief and you should be strongly encouraged to apply the knowledge from your decision aid in addressing the brief. However, I would like to make it clear that submitting the original milestone with your edits will not be viable because the decision aid was not a one-for-one draft of the technical brief. Therefore, in preparation for your Project Three assignment for the week.

proactive adversarial detection plan that your director will be creating. The final product represents an authentic demonstration of competency because, as a
security analyst, you will need to be able to develop skills that employ a variety of methods and tools necessary to detect, characterize, and counter cyber threat
actors. Your work will contribute to larger team projects across your organization. This project will also help position you to cultivate an important mind-set:
thinking responsibly, proactively, and in terms of what threat actors would do to attack organizational assets.

Scenario:

In a course announcement, your instructor will provide you with some scenarios for you to choose from. You will situate yourself as the security analyst in one of
the provided scenarios, creating a technical brief that explains to the security/IT director how the situation informs the larger proactive adversarial detection
plan that he or she is writing for the organization. You do not require specific technical information from the system at hand, as the results or determinations are
supplied for you within the scenario. Rather, you should address each critical element in the Project Three prompt, speaking broadly to what your best-practice
tactics or methods would be, based on your research from the decision aid you completed as the milestone for this project. The Conclusion section of this
activity requires you to extrapolate on all the research you have done for the decision aid.

In your technical brief, you must address the critical elements listed below. The codes shown in brackets indicate the course competency to which each critical

Katerina: (in the middle of a session that was first focusing on a problem at work) Something that bothers me very much lately is that I am overloaded with work, and I have a conflict with my roles as a mother, a wife, and a professional. All these roles are very important to me; I love them all. My family comes first, and I would like to be there whenever they need me. I want to prepare their meals, help my children with their homework… But right now there is so much work to do that I cannot spend the time I want with my family, and this provokes guilt feelings in me.

Case Study 2: Hurricane Katrina
Stephanie, an African American college student, comes to the university counseling center to meet with you for academic advising. She was a student at a historically Black university in New Orleans and had to evacuate because of Hurricane Katrina. She does not know whether her house flooded, and she has not been able to contact many of her friends.

The university where you work is a state university in which the majority of the students are White. Her New Orleans university is closed because of flooding, and she is not sure when it will reopen.

Stephanie would like to take courses at your university while her university is closed. When you tell her that only one of the classes in which she would like to enroll is open, she bursts into tears and has trouble talking. She apologizes and tells you that she knows she should be stronger.

Review past research (you should have a good starting point from the Annotated Bib assignment for Module 2, and continue the search for more/better articles) to build a solid foundation and support for your study. As in research articles you have read, you must, in due diligence, describe what is currently known about your topic. In particular, how do past research and existing theories inform and lead up to your particular RQ and Hypothesis? This literature review provides background and a supportive argument for your study’s RQ or Hypothesis.

As per APA style, you will label this section with the heading, Literature Review. Rely on the current edition of APA for formatting headings, supplemental chapters, and sample paper. Assuming you have laid a strong foundation in this section, you will have developed the framework of the paper.

The Lit Review is without question the most revealing section of your paper. You must describe, explain, and evaluate existing research that informs our understanding of your topic. This literature review helps justify your RQ and/or Hypothesis, which are listed at the end of this review section. Find a way to logically organize the past research chronologically, general to specific, contrast-comparison, trends, topical, problem-solution (much like you would a speech). Be careful not to quote too much – put information/research findings in your own words as much as possible.

You connect the research by linking back to the research idea you are studying.

You can present the RQ/Hypothesis in one of 2 ways: 1) display it as it emerges from the literature review, or 2) incorporate it as a total summary to the literature review. Remember that you type RQ1 and H1 (not the full words: Research Question or Hypothesis).

Citing from at least four to eight articles from scholarly peer-reviewed journals, write a 2-3 page Literature Review on your chosen research problem/ topic. Be sure to utilize the Research Proposal Template as a guide.

Re. 1 &2. The program or policy that you design/create has to assist probationers and/or parolees effectively and help them in their successful community adjustment and reentry. The program, intervention or policy that you propose needs to be based on known literature (published studies). Either you choose a very narrow, specific topic (e.g. mental health issues, women and children relationship, drug issues, employment etc.) or your approach is wholly, multi-dimensional. Regardless what you decide, this should be clear from the beginning.

Re. 3. If you select a program, an intervention or a policy that already exists, you need to also include evaluation research that proved its effectiveness. The examples of programs and interventions were provided in many of our articles and reports, for example, in the Vera Institute of Justice report.

FORMAT

The paper should be between 8 – 10 pages (excluding, title page, abstract, and references), double-spaced, 10 – 12 size Font (e.g. Times New Romans). All papers must be formatted in the American Psychological Association (APA) citation method and style for written assignments. APA guidelines can be found on the John Jay College Library website under “Library publications.”

You need to include at least 8 references – published studies in the scholarly journals. No more than 2 references can come from the course articles. All articles have to come from the peer-reviewed scholarly journals. The list of the journals is already posted on the Blackboard.
